Golden Retrievers

Both the Bernese Mountain dog and the Golden Retriever would make a great dog for a beginner. Bernese Mountain dogs tend to shed less but are slightly less social around strangers than the Golden. The Golden does require more trimming/clipping than the Bernese however they are easier to train and don't grow to be giant like the Bernese. Both of these dogs are just about equal so whichever one you choose is going to be determined by your own personal preference.

Light colored Golden Retrievers are known as English Cream Golden Retrievers. English Cream Golden Retrievers are given the name of Cream Retrievers due to their light color.

While most drugs given to pets are human drugs one should NEVER self medicate their pet, but take them to the vets. If you are short of money then you can simply get a prescription from your vet, go to a drug store and have the prescription filled. I've done this many times and it's a great deal cheaper. I just tell the pharmacist it's for my dog and how much my dog weighs (much like giving medication to a baby.) I do repeat that a vet should see your pet first and decide on what course of action is needed.

The reason gauged ears smell is because there is a build-up of dead skin cells and oil collecting on your jewelry and around the hole. It's a natural process, but one tends to notice it more, particularly with bigger gauges, because there is a larger skin surface collecting gunk. The best way, I have found, to keep them from smelling, is washing them whenever I am in the shower, and letting my ears and jewelry dry before putting them back in. I've heard some people recommend taking them out while sleeping, and if you are brave enough to risk them shrinking, by all means. At least your skin will have a little time to dry. If nothing else, take a tissue and wipe down your jewelry and ear once a day, that should help alleviate some of the stink.

The easiest way to tell a Hovawart and a Golden Retriever apart is by the hairs on the chest, belly, and tail. The Hovart has longer hair than the Golden Retriever.

It's just part of her retrieving instinct. They generally will move shoes (or stray socks!) around, but not chew them up. Just keep your shoes in a closet if you do not want her to move them.

Humping is a one way that canines try to display dominance. It is often part of the puppy learning their place in the pack. They can start trying to display they are "top dog" at a very young age. Males and females do this. If the adult has been in the family and comfortable in their position, they will likely put the pup in their place sooner or later.

Many do, especially sporting dogs like retrievers and other dogs with high prey drives, such as herding dogs. Unfortunately, even if a dog has the drive to play fetch, if he was not introduced to the concept of toys as a pup it may be difficult to get him engaged in a game of fetch.

Golden Retrievers and Black Labs are actually pretty close in size and build. An adult male of both breeds average around 85 pounds, the females around 75. It is not too uncommon for both breeds to get larger though. My black lab was about 110 pounds and quite tall. He was very healthy and muscular. The father of my Golden Retriever puppy is around 95 pounds, and also not fatty.

Good luck. About the only thing you can do is overwhelm him with other toys and lots of things to do. He's bored. Give him lots to do and hopefully he'll forget about digging. If you can keep him occupied for a few months,he'll probably forget about how much fun digging is, and by then he'll have grown up a bit more and won't go back to it.

leave them be they will work it out. If u try to enterfere they may turn on u. You didn't mention if you were divorced, single or your husband is still living with you and if he is ... get him involved! If he isn't then remember "YOU'RE THE BOSS IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD!" I disagree that kids of any age should be allowed to threaten their parents. If they are in their mid-teens and if you can, separate them into different bedrooms. If this behavior continues then call the police (they'll work with you) and have them booked at the jail. It may scare the pants off them. Never relent and don't put up with it! Good luck

If you leave the clippings, they will act as a mulch which can be beneficial.

On the negative side, it can cause a build-up of thatch, reduce the amount of light reaching the grass, increase the likelihood of disease due to both the decomposition process and the reduction in air circulation, and can cause the soil to become water-repellent.

One thing to consider is the laws within your individual municipality. Many cities have enacted laws prohibiting citizens from sweeping, dumping, or disposing of grass clippings into the stormwater system. Stormwater systems, unlike wastewater systems are not treated. Everything that is disposed of into the stormwater system will over time make it into a river, bay, creek or other water body. Grass clippings will eventually clog the stormwater system which may result in flooding. Also, as grass decomposes it releases chemicals which may damage the ecosystem. Mulch well and keep it out of the storm drains.

No...their body is designed to keep them cool in the summer and hot in the winter. Their fur protects them from the sun and getting things like skin cancer, sunburn, etc. So if you did, you should be fine...just don't do it again.
