How does the Google Maps interact with other technology?
The answer really depends on what you mean. If you mean how it was created:
Google maps is take by space satellite that take images of the earth from space and stitches them 'together' to make one large image.
If however, you meant how does it react to external technology:
Google Maps Works in accordance with your web browser or iphone app. The computer gives permission allowing it access to the computer. It then uses the processing power of your PC to run. If you are using a 3D view such as Google Earth this will often be installed on your PC to speed up loading time and for easy access of resources.
Historic street maps exist for many cities; you can find them at the city library, local historical society or at the State Archives.
To find the precise address: the 1880 and later censuses include a column for house number, and the street name is usually written along the lefthand margin of the page. For earlier censuses, or if the address was omitted or unclear, your best bet is to look at the city directories (which are available for most major cities and many smaller ones). City directories are great for tracing the whereabouts of your ancestors between census years as well. These can usually be found at the repositories listed above, and can also be borrowed on microfilm through the LDS Family History Library system.
Keep in mind that some cities (such as Chicago) changed their street numbering systems at some point... so the address given on a historic record may be different from the current address. If this is the case, a librarian or archivist may be able to direct you to a resource to help you determine the current address.
Thanks for your response.
I'm working with the 1870 and 1880 censuses, and, unfortunately, there were only a couple of streets and addresses recorded in the *entire county* for the years I'm researching.
And I have so far been unable to find any sort of old street maps or city directories for the two small towns I have been focused on.
I was hoping there was some sort of map of enumeration districts that could be used.
This web site may be of use to you. I have not downloaded this to make sure the instructions are on it. But the people who were hired to take the census were given spectific instructions on how the travel the area they were given, to insure they did not duplicate and to insure they counted everyone in their sector.
Each sector was given a code and and each dwelling another code. By using the codes and the instructions for the census taker you should be able to determine the location of the residence. Hopefully it will not be a office complex or parking lot now.

Where is Cewek Telanjang located?
There seems to be a mistype of the name. Google maps does not provide a specific location for Cewek Talenjang as it does not recognize it, but Telanjang is located in Washington.
When does Google Maps update Street View?
Street view photos are updated on a continuous basis, but there is a tradeoff between adding new cities and keeping the existing street view imagery current. More new cities are added every day in addition to existing imagery being updated, but it may be several years until a given city is updated.
See related links for more details including list of cities by country where Google's fleet of Street View cars are currently driving.

"Upside down" from our current maps. That's why "Lower Egypt" is that area nearest the mouth of the Nile and "Upper Egypt" is that area up river from the mouth of the Nile. Does this answer your question?
How many different Google maps are there?

The Queens Highway and Kings Highway are both two way traffick. The Queens Highway has two lanes going South to Suva and one lane going West to Nadi.
The Kings Highway is paved all the way to Korovou, Tailevu. Going through Ra Province is half gravel until Rakiraki where its paved. Kings highway stops at the roundabout in Ba, it is also where Queens Highway start - from the rounabout in Ba.
When were the last pictures taken for Google Maps?
Google Maps doesn't display the imagery dates, but Google Earth does. That's Google Earth the desktop application not the 'Earth' mode found in Google Maps.
Google reports that the imagery in Google Maps and Google Earth is on average one to three years old.
Since both use the same imagery database you only need to visit the same area in Google Earth and enable the 'Status Bar' in View menu to show the approximate imagery date for a given area in the lower-left corner of the screen.
How does someone use the Street View feature in Google Maps?
Go to a city or a location on google maps. Drag the yellow man on the left side of the map to the exact location you would like to see on the map. At the exact location, let go of the mouse button and let go of the yellow man icon. You can use the map in the lower right hand corner to navigate, the circle in the top left corner to rotate and look left, right, up or down. The plus and minus icons on the top left can also be used zoom in and zoom out.
If the overall travel time is two hours then it could be assumed the 45 minutes is included in that delay - without knowing distance and route its difficult to ascertain accuracy of the route planner
How does Google Street View on Google Earth differ from the one that is part of Google Maps?
The Street View images that are used are not necessarily taken at the same time as the images that are used in the mapping version of these online tools. Therefore one might be a couple of years older than the other.
just google "google maps" and you should find them. And google maps has like every location on the planet so yeah its all there.
What variant of Mercator projection does Google Maps use?
Google Maps is based on a close variant of the Mercator projection. Google Maps uses the spherical Mercator, but the coordinates on Google Maps are the GPS coordinates based on the WGS 84 datum. Also, because Mercator projects the poles at infinity, Google Maps cannot show the poles so instead it cuts off coverage at 85.051125° north and south.
How do you find longitude and latitude without Google Maps?
You have to look at the globe or map and see that it is divided into Northern Hemisphere and the Southern, then East and west. Look at the lines and what are you going to measure ask your self if it is east to west or north to south. find the lines of latitude that measures it and remember to do latitude then longitude first if it is not matching up exactly just make something accurate line say if the line is 30 and it's in 35 write 35 :) Hope that helped

Why can't you see yourself on Google Maps?
It varies on the location of the individual, technically there are so many people in the world that it's hard to find yourself, especially on google maps and google earth.
Additionally
In particular the satellite imagery isn't of high enough resolution to make out individuals, but Google's Street View imagery is. That's the reason faces are automatically detected and blurred by Google but finding yourself in such an image is like finding a needle in a very big haystack. If, however, you notice a Google Street View car going by (with a Google logo on the side and a large camera on the roof) and make note of the location then you could search that location over the next year to see if the street view imagery at that location happened to be updated. Just because a Google car passed you doesn't guarantee it was filming at that moment, but chances are good.
Why is there a 3D option for Google Maps but not Google Earth?
From Street View in Google Maps while viewing a panorama pressing the letter "t" or the number "3" enables 3D mode.
This feature, however, is not yet implemented in Google Earth simply because Google decided to first implement the stereoscopic 3D feature in Google Maps presumably because there is a lot more users of Google Maps than Google Earth. With enough demand the Google Earth developers may add this to a future version of Google Earth.
