GPA is an acronym for Grade Point Average. On a normal scale, a grade of A is worth 4 points, B is worth 3 points, C is worth 2 points and D is worth 1 point. To calculate GPA you would add up all the points and divide by the number of grades.

For example:

Algebra: A

English: B

Biology: B

US History: B

In this situation the student would receive 4 points for Algebra and 3 points each for English, Biology and US History. That would be a total of 13 points.

Since there are 4 classes you would divide 13 by 4 and end up with a 3.25.

So a 3.10 GPA is slightly above a "B" average.

You can go to college with pretty much any GPA. You can always go to a community college and then transfer to a university. College admission boards look at your Junior year of High School more than anything else, so make sure you did well then. If not, go ahead with the community college course. But make sure that your credits earned in the community college are transferrable to the University. Good luck!

You may find it difficult to get into any college with a 2.4 GPA. Having very high SAT scores can help, as can personal letters of recommendation from some of your teachers.

to be honest, stanford doesn't accept students based soley on gpa; they accept based on what the school can offer u and what u can offer in return

Yes, I'm almost positive you can. But there is a possibility that they'll put you into required study skills courses to make sure that you have the ability to keep up with the college academics.

Our friend's daughter got in with a GPA of 2.30/4.0, but she got a 1280 on her SAT, and her she had attended a prominent private school. No racism intended, but race is also a factor. Minorities are usually admitted with lower scores. The SAT seems to be more of a factor in admission than the GPA, since, these days, teachers seem to inflate grades to help students get into school. the SAT can't be inflated.

Take 6-12 months off from school and get a job. When you have the money start with 1 class at a time to raise your GPA. Once you get your GPA back up you can go back fulltime with financial aid.

Variants or B-Grade shoes are shoes that are not fake/replicas but just does not meet the perfection by Nike corporate.

If you do VERY well on your ACT or SAT test then it wont really matter too much what your GPA was. Very well mean at least a 32 on the ACT test. Not sure about the SAT though... didn't take it. I received a 34 on my test so I can go almost anywhere I choose for college.

If you don't do well on the ACT or SAT then you MUST get your GPA up to at least a 3.9 otherwise you'll be just average joe shmoe and no university is looking for the average.

A good GPA will depend on the college that you are looking to get into. An average GPA is considered anywhere between 3.0-4.0.

If 4.0 is perfect - 3.6 would be B+

Typically it is a B+. However some colleges and universities use the plus grading system, while others use a minus system only. In that case the 3.6 could be considered an A-.
