If you are not a Christian do you go to heaven or hell?
In the answers which follow, several contributors answer the question, from their own points of view, or from the point of view of their particular branch of Christianity.
Other opinions and points of view exist - and must not (on this site) be shouted down or over-written.
There are many, many sects and branches of Christianity - each with its own take on how the Bible is to be interpreted - and as far as this site is concerned - all are equally valued.
Opinion
You go to Hell. Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Opinion
I am not Christian, I believe in many of the main religions(such as Judaism, Muslim, Buddhism, Bahia, etc.) and I believe that one day, we will all end up in the Kingdom of God. I think that you misinterpreted the Mark 16:16, I think it means if you believe in god, not just Jesus. Besides, if you were a true Christian, why would go around telling people they're going to hell because they do not believe in Jesus. I have never understood that. All in all, I agree with most of what Answer #1 had said.
Opinion
John 14:6 " I am the way and the truth and the life. No One comes to the Father except through me. 7. If you really knew me you would know my Father as well.
A "true Christian" , Testifies to the Truth....Jesus IS Truth. Do you understand any better now?
Opinion
Okay... We are NOT God to judge... I am a Greek Orthodox Christian... But anyways... I cannot remember exactly where it says this in the Bible but it does say "Jesus is the pathway to heaven." I don't think it necessarily means if you're an Islam, or a Hindu, or whatever other than Christian that you go to Hell, the place of the wicked. But it does mean that LOST people go to Hell. (That means Atheists.) Obviously Satanists go to Hell.
It also says in the Bible false teachers are SEVERELY punished in God's court room.... You don't know who's going to Heaven or Hell because you're not God. So don't go around telling Jews, or Buddhists, or whoever they're going to Hell... It says in the Bible to tell them the truth is Christianity in a gentle and loving way. In my eyes though, I think this means it's harder for you to get to Heaven if you're not a Christian... But I'm not God... That's something you would have to ask him; and don't be focusing on who's going to Hell and who's not...
Opinion
I turned them down(church) and told them why. "The church has been lying to us," I said. "They say that all good people will go to heaven. But I have read the Bible, and I am convinced that only 144,000 persons will go to heaven. Other righteous people will live on a paradise earth."-Matthew 5:5; Revelation 14:l1, 3.
Opinion
The world's religions offer differing answers to these questions. Some teach that if you live a good life, you will go to heaven but if you live a bad life, you will burn in a place of torment. Other religions teach that at death, people pass on to the spirit realm to be with their ancestors. Still other religions teach that the dead go to an underworld to be judged and are then reincarnated, or reborn in another body.
Such religious teachings all share one basic idea-that some part of us survives the death of the physical body. According to almost every religion, past and present, we somehow live on forever with the ability to see, hear, and think. Yet, how can that be? Our senses, along with our thoughts, are all linked to the workings of our brain. At death, the brain stops working. Our memories, feelings, and senses do not continue to function independently in some mysterious way. They do not survive the destruction of our brain.
Opinion
Simply, when you die,you return to dust and you have the hope of living in a paradise earth if you obey God.
Opinion
The only religion that will take you to heaven is Islam. I am glad I am a Muslim and I'm happy I'm going to heaven because I follow the right religion.
Is there a heaven or hell in Mars?
It's very doubtful, there is no life on Mars (as we might know it).
How does God determine whether you go to Heaven or Hell for Catholics?
You determine wether you go to Heaven or Hell. Its your choice who to serve.
Hell is a state of eternal punishment originally formed by or for the fallen angels. It will become a "place" at the final judgment as the damned souls in hell will receive their bodies back, but for now everybody in it is entirely spiritual: the fallen angels, and the souls of the damned. As they have no bodies, hell just defines a state of separation from God and eternal, unending suffering. But, as it said, it will be a place at the end of time when the damned receive their bodies back. But as it really isn't a place right now, it can hardly be above us, although the Bible speaks of it as being "below."
Why do people believe in hell and heaven?
Seeing as the only people who will believe in heaven and hell are religious. Denying that there is a heaven and hell would be going against Gods word. people who are religious are absolutely terrified of God and this imaginary place called "hell", a place in which you are tortured for all eternity, so they are beaten into submission believing whatever The Bible says as to not anger their imaginary God. As death terrifies most people they feel forced into wanting there to be something nice for them after they die so they accept heaven as a real concept
Despite the overwhelming lack of evidence and how illogical it is, people will still believe in heaven and hell because they are absolutely terrified of death.
//There is something inherent in the human mind and/or soul that needs to believe there is something larger and more powerful than ourselves. It transcends time and cultures, truly a global, human experience. From ancient Egypt's many gods and goddesses to modern Christianity, mankind needs to believe. Humans seem to know instinctively that we are not an accident, and for most of the world's population, it makes more sense than that of atheists, that have no beliefs at all outside of evolution.
Is saying give you hell haram for muslims?
Answer 1
Sending somebody to hell or heaven is the sole prerogative of Almighty Allah. We should not curse somebody like this.
Answer 2
In American English, the phrase "give 'em hell" is an expression to fight an enemy as hard you can, not necessarily an invocation or curse to send them to hell. Regardless, a Muslim should be careful in the way that he speaks to as not to imply that he may wish hellfire on anyone. There are far less crude expression such as "do not give them an inch" or "resist them 'till your dying breath" that are much less problematic.
Is there proof that hell is real?
By most people's standards, no there is not concrete proof that hell is real. In saying this, one assumes that by "proof" a person would be looking for video, pictures or accounts of hell.
There has been, for example, an account (and over time there have probably been more than one) of a person who claimed that God showed him a vision of hell and that he felt his "ministry" calling was to tell others about it. Other than such so-called "first person" accounts, there is no concrete proof. Three notes should be made about this, however:
First, many claims of faith are not proven. In the case of Biblical Christianity (assuming that this is the "hell" the question is referring to), for example, it seems that the Christian God perhaps prefers it this way.
Second, virtually all aspects of "proof" require belief. For example: if one were to open a science textbook and find a picture of the sun, it would likely be shown as a photograph of what looks like a giant round flaming ball. Most modern humans would accept this as a fact; undeniable and proven. However, if one considers something seen first-hand as proof then one would have to say there is no proof that the fireball shown in thousands of pictures is, in fact, the sun. Because to us on Earth it appears as a bright shining light in the sky (and does not look like it does in scientific pictures) it requires an aspect of faith to believe that it is also what it is claimed to be in the textbook pictures.
Third, let us pretend that a person actually had found a way to go to hell and come back and they took a camera with them. If a person were to show a video of their trip to "hell" or "heaven" it is highly probable that most people would not believe it were real. So in essence, there is no concrete proof, however it is possible that too much emphasis is placed on "proof" in modern religious debate because often times "hard evidence" does not do very much to encourage or discourage individual belief.
.
Catholic AnswerOf course there is proof that hell is real, but not if you are a modern, secular man who only accepts physical proof that he can see, touch, etc. Of course by this theory, then most of us in the United States are not really sure that India exists except that others have told us about it and we hear about it all the time, even if we have never met anyone who has been there. Ah, but then we have never met anyone that has been to hell, then, either, have we? Back up a bit though, the Christian heaven and hell are NOT places, they are states of being and we call them hell when our bodies die and we can no longer change. So this is entirely different, because a lot of people we know are living in hell right now. And each one of us at some point in our lives have been living in hell, you know those days or situations where you wonder why you even bother to take the next breath? Well, the only difference between that hell and the state that you may end up with in the next life is that hell on earth is always (for most of us) bearable because we still have HOPE that tomorrow, or next week, or even this afternoon will be better. (For those who can't bear it, they sometimes choose suicide only to discover that the situation only gets worse, much worse, as it is now permanent.) The very definition of hell is "no hope". So think about the worst day of your life, and then think how bad it would have been if the way you felt that day will be the way you are, not just for tomorrow or next year, but for eternity. There, now you know what hell is like, and that feeling of living with no hope? That is what we call trying to live without God - that is the definition of hell. So, although it is not a proof that will stand up to scientific investigation, you and I both know that it is very real, and that never, ever want to see it, even for an instant. What if you killed a sociopath and they ended up in hell?
By definition, a sociopath lacks a sense of moral responsibility. Those who lack a sense of moral responsibility automatically wind up in a hellish dimension after physical death. They have no choice. The non-living higher power on the Other Side known as The Light judges all regardless of belief system; this is confirmed by near-death experience and inter-life regression research. Regardless, I strongly suggest letting the police handle such matters and not doing said individual in on your own. With one rare exception: if you were to transition and were spiritually advanced enough to expand your consciousness into a Godhead in The Light. In which case, if you were to investigate - as people and events on the physical plane are much more obvious to those on the Other Side - and said individual is indeed confirmed beyond a shadow of doubt to be a sociopath, then, as a Judge in The Light you would only be serving "that which is good and true" by ousting his or her soul from corporeal life and letting The Light indirectly force him or her to reside in an appropriate hellish dimension. (A sociopath who happened to murder an innocent who expanded into a Godhead on the Other Side would not live for very long.) But for the vast majority who read this: best to just let the police handle crimes committed by a sociopath.
Does the Bible say that being gay you will bust hell wide open?
No. It says homosexuality is a sin. If you engage in those activities, according to God's word, you will go to hell.
When you have intercourse with a succubus do you go to hell?
Well, first and foremost, I would try to avoid having sex with a succubus at all cost. No matter what, you don't want to test your theory one way or the other, so staying away from a succubus would be the most logical solution.
If you do have sex with a succubus, it is not scientifically proven whether or not you go to hell. In my opinion, God would judge you based on your own life, not by whether you have terrible taste in women as evidenced by choosing a succubus for a girlfriend. That being said, many religions are very strongly against premarital sex, so that in itself could be enough to put you on the highway to hell.
However, don't fret! You are most likely safe considering that succubuses don't actually exist.
Do the majority of people go to heaven or hell?
Is Angelica Zambrano a real story?
It is a true story, about the young Ecuadorian girl who had visions of Heaven and Hell. Whether her visions were actually a miraculous occurrence is widely debated.
A:
One way is not to believe in hell. You can not go to a place that does not exist.
If you a a Catholic or belong to some other Christian denominations, the way not to go to hell is to live a good life andsee to it that the sins you will inevitably commit are forgiven.
If you belong to most Protestant denominations, the way not to go to hell is to believe in Jesus. Nothing else matters.
.
Catholic AnswerThe only way to go to hell is to reject God, regardless of your beliefs or membership in any Church or religion. The way to not go to hell is to accept God, which, means following His directions for living a life of love of Him and your fellow men. Thus, the only way to not go to hell is to put others first, their interests ahead of yours. To not love one single human being is to not love God, you must love everyone - read St. Matthew 25:31-45."When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left. Then the King will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.' Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' Then they also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?' Then he will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.' And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
Is the Islam religion belief in heaven or hell?
Islam religion belief is in both Heaven and Hell. Heaven is the reward for good Muslims and good believers in God and in His oneness. Hell is for those who are expelled from God love and mercy.
Are heaven and hell actual places?
Some people do not believe so. Christians are just one religious group known for believing that these are two actual realms of physical being, though separate from this earthly realm, as though different stories of a house that do not touch, except where connected by a ladder, in this case, death.
Well if you want to hear the truth this is what happens you are not reborn or anything like that! You see most people will go to hell 'cause they do not believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and now Jesus Chirts is the only way to heaven If you believe In Christ if you believe that God gave his only son to take all the sins that we have away than when you die you will go to heaven! if not you will go to hell all your night mares will come true and you will there forever! Scary I know but that's just the way it is and one more thing, our life is getting worse everyday there crime and other thing soon it will be illegal to be a believer but you most keep your faith it's the only way to heaven, No matter what!Someday God will return to earth so everybody can see at the same time He will put all the believers in the air and the rest will be rone into the lake of FIRE! I'm not tring to be scary just take a breather and try to suck it in it's going to pay off in Heaven! :-D
The end state of mankind who do not go to heaven will be to go to the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:11-15). You will not be oblivious to this fire but will suffer horribly for an eternity.
That George Washington is in heaven or hell?
The only people that we can know about are the saints because God has declared them, through His Vicar on earth, to be in heaven. Beyond the saints, we have no knowledge of anyone in hell or anyone else in heaven.
Actually, that is a belief held by Roman Catholics, no one else. The condition of the soul of George Washington has no relevance to your life or your spiritual development. You are responsible for the condition of your soul no one elses. You have the responsibility of practicing and developing your spiritual virtues so that when you die you will be able to function in the next world, a totally spiritual world. Those souls which are not developed enough to function will be distant from God, a condition known as Hell. Those which are developed enough to function are closer to God, the condition known as Heaven. Just as there are different forms of life and levels of functioning in the physical realm (rocks, trees, animals, humans) so too there are different levels of functioning in the next, spiritual realm.
What is the difference in a christian and a Muslim heaven and hell?
In most respects they are very similar. But the defining difference is Jesus Christ as saviour. The Christian bible tells us that only through Christ will one attain heaven.
When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead had he been in heaven or hell?
Answer:
Lazarus' soul was in Hades.
Lazarus' soul wasn't asleep, of one of rest. His soul wasn't in a haven. His soul wasn't in the Kingdom of Heaven, the true Jerusalem.
His soul was in Hades.
Hence Jesus saliently wept for his soul. Also the risen Lazarus became a byword for resurrection, because of the fame generated with the people in which that miracle resonated, in that one had came back from the dead, back from Hades.
John 11.
Have babies gone to hell in the Bible?
No. There is no Scripture in the Bible that states this directly. Neither does the Bible teach of anyone who died immediately going to a place of reward (Heaven), or an intermediate waiting place like Purgatory or Limbo, or a place of eternal punishment (Hell). Rather, the Bible teaches a future time of Judgment for all mankind. To this end, Solomon was inspired to record these words (Ecclesiastes 12:7 New International Version - NIV): "and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it."
Contrary to mainstream beliefs on eternal punishment in hellfire, the Bible teaches that only the incorrigibly, unrepentant 'wicked' will be punished by fire in their Judgement - but not the mythical hell of men's imagination. God is a God of mercy and love. Those who willfully choose to reject His way of life, characterized by obedience to His law of love will die the 2nd death in Scripture (see Revelation 21:8), not suffer forever. They will be consumed by fire and forgotten. They will not be tortured for all eternity.
What is hell like according to Christians?
Hell was the third most frequent topic Jesus taught about (in 172 verses) however the bible does not say exactly what hell is like.
In the New Testament Hades/Hell is described as a place of torment, of eternal fire, the blackness of darkness, a place you cannot escape from.
Jesus spoke of hell as a place where "their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched". Mark 9:46
It will be 'hell' because God will not be there.
What is the Sikhs' version of Heaven and Hell?
"That place is heaven, where the Kirtan of the Lord's
Praises are sung. You Yourself instil faith into us."
SGGSJ Page 749
"Hell and disease do not afflict one who joins the
Company of the Lord's humble servants, O Nanak;
the Lord attaches him to the hem of His robe."
SGGSJ Page 531
"Keep me near You, O Merciful Lord God - that is
heaven for me." SGGSJ Page 1161
"One who enjoys peace in the Company of the Holy,
even for an instant, obtains millions of heavenly
paradises." SGGSJ Page 1208
Heaven in the Afterlife
Once our time on Earth is complete and it is our time
to depart then our soul rises through the 5 spiritual
realms to meet God in its formless state (Nirankar).
The Guru is the boat which carries people across the
earthly plane.
"The Boat of the True Guru is the Name of the Lord.
How can we climb on board? One who walks in harmony
with the True Guru's Will comes to sit in this
Boat. Blessed, blessed are those very fortunate ones,
O Nanak, who are united with the Lord through the
True Guru." SGGSJ Page 40
"Remembering Him in meditation, the door of liberation
is found. You shall go to heaven, and not return
to this earth." SGGSJ Page 971
Is Hell also a Physical Place?
The physical hell in Sikh dharma is the reincarnation
and the samsara cycle. Our karma keeps us locked
to the Earth plane through this eternal cycle of life.
This is why Sikh dharma is geared at releasing us
from this physical hell by changing our state of mind
and enjoining us to perform good deeds and meditation.
"O Nanak, forgetting the Naam, he is reincarnated
into heaven and hell." SGGSJ Page 298
"He is caught and thrown into the most horrible
hell, the well of pain and suffering." SGGSJ Page
309
"You shall not see the 8.4 million types of hell; sing
His Glorious Praises and remain saturated with loving
devotion" SGGSJ Page 1072
"Without meditative remembrance, they come and
then go, and are cast into the hellish womb of reincarnation."
SGGSJ Page 1030
"The faithless cynic has to endure 8.4 million hellish
incarnations." SGGSJ Page 1028
It would be worth noting here that the mention of
womb refers to all places where life is generated
including mother Earth. Hell does not label the female
gender as bad, but it simply refers to the reincarnation
cycle.
"He saves us from the hellish pit of the womb, and
carries us across the terrifying world-ocean." SGGSJ
Page 210
"The Lord dwells in both the lower and higher
worlds. Leaving the earth, the soul ascends to the
heavens; then, the lower and higher join together,
and peace is obtained. 25" SGGSJ Page 341
Conclusion
Sikhs do not desire heaven or hell and only desire to
be close to God. Heaven is where the lords saints
abide and where His praises are sung. Heaven is not
exclusive for any specific religious group but it can
not be accessed through simple beliefs. Actions
speak louder than words and this holds true in both
the spiritual and material worlds.
Where do homosexuals go when they die heaven or hell?
Jehovah God states in Genesis 3:19: "From dust you are - - to dust you shall return."
Before we existed, we had NO EXISTENCE. Any sign of us was in the dust - - lifeless. When we finish our existence (when we die) -- we RETURN from whence we came. We came from nothing - - and will return to nothingness.
Ezekiel 18:4 states: "The soul that is sinning - - it itself shall die."
While many people have been taught that mankind was given an 'immortal soul' and that the soul keeps on living --- this scripture states otherwise. Souls do die. They return to 'NON-EXISTENCE'. That's what 'death' is. That's why we use the word. 'Death' is the opposite of 'living / existence'.
The concept that there is a place of 'eternal torment' in a fiery hell, is not in the Bible. Anything that sounds like it is merely 'figurative'. Jehovah God would NEVER, NEVER in a billion years permit such a place of eternal torment to exist in his universe. Therefore homosexuals do not need to worry about that.
Likewise the concept that all good people migrate to heaven, is not in the Bible. "The meek shall inherit THE EARTH," not heaven.
Answer:
Romans 1:27: "And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."
Homosexuality is a sin, there is no other way to view it. No matter which side of the equation you are on. God says it is sin, period.
Another Answer:
Throughout the Bible, there are many Scriptures associating 'death' of ALL mankind as a 'sleep.' It also speaks of a Final Judgement period and the reward of eternal life for many and the 2nd death for some physical humans who refuse repentance and are incorrigible. The concept of an eternal hell fire is the punishment of Satan and his demons - spiritual beings cannot die.
King Solomon was inspired to write down what happens to all physical humans:
Ecclesiastes 12:7-8 New King James Version (NKJV):
7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it. 8 "Vanity of vanities," says the Preacher, "All is vanity."
There is no escaping the first death and then the promised Judgement. However, there is a 'choice' allowing many others to escape the 2nd and final or permanent death -
1 Thessalonians 5:23 New King James Version (NKJV):
Blessing and Admonition
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation 2:11 New King James Version (NKJV) :
11 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death."'
Contrary to Greek Philosophical teachings of an Immortal Soul, we humans are physical and will be resurrected to Judgement - physical again (live again). Revelation 20:5 New King James Version (NKJV):
5 But the rest of the dead did not live againuntil the thousand years were finished.
//According to the Holy Bible, our bodies return to dust until we are resurrected at the second coming. Those that have lived as they should will reside with Jesus in His kingdom. Those, which the bible tells us will be the vast majority of people, will reside with Satan, since it was Satan they followed while on earth. This includes homosexuals, liars, thieves, basically, those that don't live by the 10 commandments. There are many people now that don't believe there is a God or Satan for that matter, they have concluded that the bible is a book of myths. They will find out much too late that every word in the bible was the truth. There is a God, and a devil also. Heaven is a real place as is hell. Once the average person finds this out it will be too late. While you are alive there is the chance to escape hell.//
