What year model did the Honda Pilot start using a timing chain?

Never as of today (Jan 2013)

SOME "Earth Dreams" engines are timing cain driven. That "new" 3.5L engine is slated to be delivered with the Pilot starting with the redesign due for 2014 models. However per Honda's press release here.

They only reference the 4 cylinder getting chain driven cams and balance shafts so I suspect the 2014 Pilot will still have that silly belt. 90K mile maintenance item, expect the bill for the 90K service at your dealer to be between 1,000 and 1,600.

How do you replace the two hydraulic lifts that raise the rear hatch on a 95 Grand Cherokee?

If you're even slightly mechanically inclined you can do it. First don't go to a dealer. Locate the replacements by searching most any online auto parts seller. The dealer would like to charge you $70 each, but I bought them for $26 each and installed them in 1/2 hour. The only tools you'll need are needle-nose pliers, a socket set and a broom handle (to prop the gate while you're working). Try this site: rockauto dot com Their site is great...simply look up your jeep, model year, engine size. Then look under "Body-Exterior" and click on the "lift support" folder. Be careful to select the correct lift support and measure the supports length both open and closed. The supports come with installation directions. It's that easy! Answer JC Whitney had them at a good price. They came with instructions. Perfect fit. No measuring necessary. I agree with other answer. Answer I just did this to my '97 grand cherokee. Advanced auto parts had them for $22! Not a bad deal. I would suggest using something a little more sturdy than a broom handle, those tail gates get pretty heavy once the lift arms are removed. Other than that, it's all gravy baby.

Honda Pilot 2007 windshield wiper replacement?

The 2007 Honda Pilot takes a 24" drivers side, 21" passenger side and a special 14" rear blade. Take note that not all blades have the correct mount. When buying windshield wiper blades be sure to always use the application guide book at the store or now-a-days you can google 'lookup wiper size'.

You want to look this up because correct wiper fit is more than correct length, it's also proper attachement. Not all attachments fit all arms. Using the application guide or looking up wiper size online will avoid headaches of buying the right lengths with the wrong attachements.

The rear blade will be a little more challenging because this vehicle has a "Roc Lock 3" rear arm . You can go to your dealer or I know Trico makes a model 14-B (Exact Fit Rear Integral Blade 14-B) that you can find online. There may be others available too.

The replacement wiper blades will come with step-by-step, illustrated instructions and once you have the instructions and the wiper blades/arms in your hands in front of you, it will all make better sense and will an easy maintenance task.

Very simple and takes 2-15 minutes usually not requiring any tools.

What is the fuel efficiency of a Honda Pilot?

How do you change a 2005 Honda Pilot remote key battery?

to have it done.

What size wiper blades do you need for 2007 Honda Pilot?

The 2007 Honda Pilot takes 24" driver side, 21" passenger side and a fairly specialized 14" rear wiper that is difficult to find in the stores. See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are currently over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.

What does service code B12 mean on a 2009 Honda Pilot?

What is a Honda maintenance minder?Starting in 2007, all Honda models came equipped with a maintenance minder system. This system calculates the life of the engine oil, transmission fluid, air and cabin filters, coolant, spark plugs, timing belt (if equipped), and rear differential fluid. Because the computer is calculating the lifespan of the different items, a scheduled maintenance list based on mileage is no longer used.

The computer determines the life of each item based on the driving conditions of the vehicle. If the engine runs at higher temperatures and rpm, or at low temperatures during short trips, the oil life will deplete faster than an engine running under normal conditions. It will indicate a percentage of oil life on the vehicle?s display.

This system is unique in that it has the ability to move up or delay other services so when it?s time to have an oil change, it will tell you the other services needed at the same time to keep the service visits to a minimum.

A percentage will show on the display starting at 100 %, diminishing as the vehicle is driven. Once the percentage gets to 15, a wrench is illuminated on the dash letting the driver know that service is due soon. At 5% the service is due now, and at 0% the service is overdue. The system will count in negative numbers when service is past due.

The first code is either ?A,? requiring an oil change, or ?B,? requiring and oil and filter change. The second code will be a number, indicating one of the following:

1. Tire rotation

2. Air filter and cabin filter replacement, and check the drive belt

3. Transmission Fluid

4. Spark plug replacement, timing belt replacement (if equipped), inspect water pump and valve clearance

5. Engine coolant replacement

6. Differential fluid replacement

Once the vehicle is service, your technician will reset the maintenance minder system, so it can begin the calculation process again.

You bought a used Honda Pilot with navigation system and found out after the sale that you needed a special disk to use the navigation system that costs 250 and want to know what your recourse is?

Your "recourse" is to go on eBay and buy one for less than $100. Used cars are generally sold "as is." If you bought a year-old Pilot from a Honda dealer, you could always take it in for an oil change or something and "casually" remark, "my navigation system doesn't show maps, you got any ideas?" and they might (MIGHT is the operative phrase here!!! They don't HAVE to!) have one to give you out of another car, or just out of parts stock. If you bought it from a used-car lot, or from a non-Honda new car dealer, you're back to buying one from eBay.

What is the front shoulder room in the 2009 Honda Pilot?

How do you change the transmission filter on a 2003 Honda Pilot?

First find the filter... Honda has it for $50 but their general practice it not to change it. NAPA has it for $25. After you have the filter, you want to remove the battery and plastic tray. Then remove the air intake hose coming from the air filter box to the intake. At this point you can see the spin on Trans filter on top of the transmission. (Cylindrical, about the size of your fist.) It is threaded on one end and has a line connection on the other in. The line connection uses and "O ring" to seal it up and there are two screws that hold the line in place. You may have to loosen the brake module to have better access. Next remove the screws and then gently pry out the line. Doesn't take much force. After you have the line out of the way, you will have to unscrew the filter. You can do this with a 1" wrench. Limited access so, needs to be a wrench. After you break it loose, it should unscrew pretty easily. Now just reverse the order to put everything back.

When i did mine, i pulled the plastic engine cover too... makes it easier to get hose off. 10mm screws on engine cover, 12mm screws on break module and 10mm screws on transmission line connection. Total took about 45mins. Hope this helps.

How much does it cost to replace brakes on a Honda Pilot?

How do you unclog the rear window washer sprayer on a Honda Pilot?

With a small standard screwdriver CAREFULLY pry out the nozzle, then disconnect the hose from the nozzle. Blow compressed air back through the nozzle from the spray end towards the hose end. DO NOT attempt to use a pin or small wire! While the nozzle is off the car activate the rear washer switch and make sure the hoseline is clear and pumping fluid.

If not - your trouble probably lies with the washer pump itself. Hondas have two stage pumps but both run off the same pump motor. Even if the pump motor runs, if nothing comes out the rear hose, the rear pump mechanism has failed. I had this happen to me on my CR-V, and it requires the replacement of the entire pump assembly.
