The Honda Pilot key fob takes a #1616 battery. Start by removing the (often very tight) screw and gently pry the cover off from the key edge to the keyring edge. Pop the transmitter module out by pressing the buttons.

Now, using a wide screwdriver, or thin coin, release both clasps, one under the panic button, and one near the lock button. You'll find the #1616 battery inside here. Replace the battery, reassemble, and test.

No, you should use the ATF fluid from the dealer. The Pilot is particuliarly finicky with fluid. Probably the best example of this is the VTM-4 unit (all wheel drive) if you even think about using anything other then dealer fluid it will start chattering. Just an FYI though, if you *need* to use a substitute fluid (perhaps not near a dealer etc), you will have to perform the flush and fill procedure (outlined in the manual). It requires basically filling, running and flushing the transmission a number of times to expunge the foreign fluid from the torque converter. The fluid is not terribly expensive and Honda is better versed in whats recommended fluid wise for the vehicle then generic off the shelf fluids. It is a 5 hour job for a licensed mechanic. Water pump should be checked at same time. This is an interference engine so if timing belt breaks it will very likely cause valve to piston contact(or big $$). Replace evry 105 K miles. Service techs will also check valve clearances and adjust if necessary. About a $500-$700 job at dealer.

To engage the 4x4 manually (VTM-4), you would need to be in 1st, 2nd, or reverse gear. In those gears and while stopped, you can then press the VTM-4 button, and will engage 4x4. It will only be engaged when around 18mph or lower. Above that, and it will disengage. It will re-engage when it dips down to that speed again. To turn it off, you can just press the button, or shift to a higher gear Keep in mind that even with the button off, VTM-4 will engage occasionally when there's slippage.
