What is the definition of greek and latin affixes?

In Greek and Latin there are root or base words which can take a prefix, placed before the root, or a suffix, placed after the root, which in combination with the root or base word determines the final meaning.

So, prefixes and suffixes are known, collectively, as affixes; in other words, affix is the general term while prefix or suffix is specific to before or after a root or base word.

An example of a prefix is "micro-" which means "small." Combining this prefix with the word "scope" results in "microscope."

A suffix example is "-able" which means "capable of" or "able to be." Combining with the word "fix" results in "fixable."

Combining all three is also possible, as follows:

- We take the suffix "pre-" which means "before" or "in advance of"

- To this we add the root "-dict-" which means "to say" or "to tell"

- And we complete it with the suffix "-able" which means "capable of" or "able to be"

Together the result is the word "predictable," which means "to be able to say/tell before, or in advance of."

What were some of the horrors of World War I?

World War 1, The Great War, or at it's end so commonly called "The war to end all wars" was probably one of the most horrendous wars ever conceived by man. At it's start it was to be considered a short war, but when the French dug in to stop the German advance the Germans did as well, creating a front that would remain unchanged for years. On that very field the act of trench hopping became a vain attempt to gain just a few yards of land where most were cut down by machine gun fire. Trenches themselves were just as worse, as the land turned from countryside to mud fields you often had disease spread rampant as sanitation was lacking. Rats consumed the dead that were often left in the fields and skeletal remains were often a result from this. Through the night soldiers would often have to listen to the cries of their fellow injured servicemen and the constant shelling which gave term to the phrase "Shell shock".

If you were lucky to survive the carnage it often was not a feeling of relief. It is said that only one in four soldiers made it back from the war, and those that had come back either became emotionally disconnected or mad. It's difficult to imagine what it really was like back then, but it was obvious enough that its devastation left many nations to pursue isolation and mass disarmament.

What is an Example of horror drama?

It's in the middle of the night at a cemetery... four teenagers lurk among the headstones, searching for a thrill. Their heartbeats quicken as the moon peeks out from behind a cloud. Behind them, they can hear twopolice men's walki-talkis and murmured voices. Light from flashlights graze over the teens' backs and they drop to their stomachs behind a large mausoleum. They can hear the jingle of keys as the men approach. They hold their breath and wait for them to pass. The teens shifted their bodies to watch behind a gravestone. The police officers give up the search and as they disappear from view, the teens high-five each other. Just when they think they're safe, they're yanked into the ground by bony fingers.
