Mike, dont know what state you are in sooo cant say if you had to have "notice" or "repo papers". The LENDER is liable for Damage to the car. As I recall, Indiana and Wisconsin (poss Ohio now too) have a right to petition Illinois if you don't pay an out of state ticket. They can petition to suspend your license. I got a ticket in Indiana and kept calling for two months to find out what I owed. Repeatedly a very ignorant woman told me I didn't have one on file so I stopped trying until 6mon later I got a letter from Sec. of State that I had 30 days to show them I paid it, or they would suspend my license. Most states are members of an interstate compact that notifies other member states of traffic violations of drivers licensed elsewhere. That notification appears on your driving record and has the same consequences as if it happened in the driver's home state, including suspensions for not paying tickets. I had a speeding ticket in Ohio and my license was from Pennsylvania. Within a few days I received a letter basically saying if I did not pay the fine, they would report it to Pennsylvania.
