How climate is an important factor in deciding what type of building materials to use when constructing a house?

Climate is an important factor in deciding what type of building materials to use when constructing a house because on a sunny day for example asphalt absorbs light energy and converts it into thermal energy, becoming hot. Shininess, colours, and texture are three important things that tell the amount of light energy that's absorbed or reflected. Therefore, in cold places like Europe the outside colour of the house should be dark thus it attracts the sun and keeps the house warm, and use asphalt and aluminum to be built. However, in hot places like Africe the outside colour should be light so ONLY SOME of the light energy is absorbed, because it will be reflected.

Does the dining table have to match the hutch?

No, the dining room table does not have to match the hutch. For example, if your table were to be finished in paint, while your hutch is in a stained finish, (or vise versa), it would give the room a chic eclectic look. While if you wanted a more traditional style in your dining room, matching the dining room table to your hutch would be a wise idea.

How does condensation affect a false ceiling?

Condensation can form for the same reasons it does on windows, if one side is colder than the other.

Condensation in extreme cases can make a false ceiling wet and soggy.

In mild cases it just tends to increase the chance of sagging as the moisture absorbed often makes the material less rigid and sturdy so it doesn't stay in place perfectly.

There is also the risk of mold and mildew growth if the area remains perpetually wet all the time.

To prevent this, most false ceilings include adequate ventilation and air circulation to prevent moisture build up in a localized area.

You removed a load bearing wall they had reinforced the post and put in a beam 2 months later you are noticing cracks in the wall and a previous crack had lengthened what are my walls saying?

If I am reading the question correctly, a load bearing wall was removed and replaced with a beam? Clear span, no post in the middle? If cracks are appearing, the beam that was used was not big enough. For any space of 8 feet or more, 2x12 and plywood should be used for the beam or an engineered truss used.

What to do about tongue and groove paneling shrinkage?

Wow.... how old is your tongue & groove--

to be honest this would not be a job for a novice.

this job may involve taking all of the slabs off from that side of the wall and re-using them because this would be the easiest way to remedy the problem.

T & G has a Tongue on one side and a Groove on the other side.

When I do T & G I usually start with the "Tongue" facing left.. so when I place my last piece; my last piece may have a groove on the right side flushing into the wall on my right---but sometimes the slab has to be ripped down because the original slab is 4 inches wide but your last space to be filled was only 3 inches wide---and so the right side of that last piece is totally flat now because it was ripped down to accomodate the 3 inch space and does not have a groove on the end anymore. Please keep this in mind as I mention to you that you can probably tap a flat piece of wood strip down along the right side of the last piece placed and perhaps another flat piece of wood strip down along the left side of the first piece placed. I didn't even ask if the T & G was diagonal at a 48 inch height with chair rail, or if it is diagonal from cieling to base, or if its straight to 48 inches with chair rail. There is a lot to be looked at here..as I said; this is not a job for the novice.

Please study How To Videos and you will see the involvement and perhaps you may even see the best way to remedy your situation.

How high to hang pictures above a couch?

You don't need to hang it too high tht it looks really wierd or too low that you can easily bang your head on the picture . Here is my advise, if you have kids and they love to climb onto your couch well then you should just hang it higher than you intend it to be so they won't scratch it or make it dirty.
