Why do bathroom light switches usually have a cord hanging from them?

I have never seen a bathroom light switch with a cord hanging from it and I've seen a lot of bathrooms. But if i had to guess. I'd probably say to turn them off.

Electricity is conducted very easily through water. So if you let water run from your wet hands into a light switch in a bathroom there is a chance you could get a shock, even get killed. So some bathrooms have the switch on the roof with a long string to turn it on and off. So there is no chance of water getting to the switch.

What are the major factors that you should consider before choosing the type of suspended ceiling?

What are you using the ceiling for? Aesthetics, sound control, maintenance access, etc. Where is the ceiling? Residential basement, retail store, office building, etc. What is my Budget? Unlimited, extremely limited or some where in between. How large is the ceiling? 200 sq ft or 10,000 sq ft. Will light duty T-bar work or will I need heavy duty runners and mains. Do I need 2" perimeter molding. Am I in a SEISMIC ZONE? This one gets a lot of people in our area because of support, stabilization and flexibility/separation. Is this part of a fire or sound rated assembly? Is it attached to wood floor/ceiling or metal or concrete. How much room is in between the floor/ceiling above and the droop in ceiling below. Can I easily remove and replace tiles. What are the local building codes? How easy will it be to get replacement tiles in 10 years? Do I need to have additional for replacement? This is just a starter list, but it should give you an idea. This is something a lot of people do not have... an idea, in mean. :) Hope this helps! Maintain

What subjects do you need to take when in high school to become an interior designer?

This answer is completely dependent upon the school - each has differing requirements for degree, so review each carefully. Schools with an emphasis in art and design may not suit you as well as schools which stress family studies and communications. Make sure that your education is as broad as possible, and take every opportunity to intern in different fields; interior design as a profession can lead you into many areas (this writer has worked in corporate, retail, residential and hospitality design in about 15 years). Technology continues to take us into bold new directions, and adaptability will always be crucial for success. One important consideration is accreditation in your field, as some schools which offer design degrees are not accredited by any Interior Design professional organizations - and, after all, it is these professionals who are going to be looking at your resume after graduation. Personally, I would favor a school which offers classes in construction and engineering, as designers in the real world need to be conversant with How Things Work. Remember, good design must be able to be built - and professionals in the building trades will respect you if you show some understanding of their work. Good luck, and welcome to the trade!

Does gray and green match?

It depends how you wear it, but yes, it does match. It would be cute if you wore grey jeans and a green shirt. But all and all, yes, they really match well.

What size drill bit to use to drill holes for vertical blinds?

Why are Venetian blinds called Venetian blinds?

The early history of the venetian blind is conjectural. The early Venetians, who were great traders, are thought to have brought the idea of the blind from Persia to Venice.

The venetian blind proved to be more popular in commercial and institutional markets, where technical supremacy overshadows charm. Superblindsmart.com.au

Standard closet door size?

Because there are no building codes governing closet sizes, there is no such thing as a standard size closet door. There isn't even a standard style. Some are prehung, others are sliding doors and still others are bi-fold doors. Some common sizes for bi-fold style doors are 24 inches by 80 inches and 30 inches by 80 inches.

Hi I'm looking to build a walk in closet with 10 linear feet of hanging storage and 20 linear feet of open storage. How can I find out how big of a walk in closet do i need to build?

I would think you would need to build your closet at least 8X10. The two width's would be 16 of your 20 linear feet of open storage with about 2-3 extra feet along the opposite wall of your 10 linear feet to add shelves or drawers for additional storage (considering about a 3 foot door). Hope this helps. Good luck!
