I have been fighting with this one for months now. I finally called in the big guns and had them fix it in techienow site. They are $9.95 per month for unlimited support on your computer. We discovered that the culprit was actually the TrendMicro software that I had installed on the computer. They disabled the TrendMicro and we have resolved the issue. They also recommended that we go to Trend Micro and ask their support team for settings that could resolve the issue before reinstalling. Worst case. uninstall Trend Micro and use Webroot or Kapersky (#1 Software) per their suggestions.

I went to tools- internet options- advanced- browsing section- unclick 'enable third party browser extensions' and in the accessibility section click 'enable caret browsing for new windows and tabs. This worked for me!

after yo browse click arrow pointing down on google, bing, search bar, etc. on google find clear history and click it on the search bar go to the end of what u searched and there should be an x click it and its erased! hope this helped :)

go to start -> run and type "regsvr32 /u vsfilter.dll" (without the quotes) and press enter. from Spike then nothing happened except a message stating expired or something, i then went into my folder where the problem was it was still the same. so i then tried the next option which was stated by Peddant Go to Start/Run/and type - regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll click OK. which this fixed the roblem this information is to help those whom are still struggling --------------------------
