You can't switch it out for anything else that I'm aware of, and I wouldn't suggest you try this. Too many systems are affected by the hydraulic oil.

I buy my hydraulic oil (HSMO)at http://www.motorcarsltd.com. They have the best price I have found online and they ship pretty quick. You'll find it in their online catalog under materials & supplies.

dealer has accss to radio codes, a 4-digit number you punch into the radio keypad. you need to provide them with the VIN number and the seial number of the radio. sometimes the previous owners will write this number into the inside covers of the owners manual; another writer said look on the underside of the hood possibly

4950 lbs. If we're talking about a Series III XJ6 in US trim, about 4100 pounds curb weight. The 4950 pounds mentioned sounds like the *gross vehcile weight*...the weight fully loaded....taken of the door sticker

Buy a Haynes Repair manual for the car. That $14.00 Book will save you hundreds to thousands. I'm not giving you a fish; I'm teaching you how to fish. As a fellow Jag (V12) owner, this is the best way I can answer your question to help you now, and in the long term.

If it has a "V" belt, loosen the alternator or air pump. If it has a "Serpentine" Belt, use a breaker bar with a deep well socket and retract the tensioner/idler pulley that keeps the belt tight.

you don't have to check, top off, or change transmission fluid on a Jaguar. Their transmissions are manufactured "oiled for life".

Your oxygen sensor is bad, or the connection may be corroded.

Luckily this is a part you can replace yourself. It unscrews from the exhaust manifold and is a relatively easy fix. I would buy it online, not at a dealer.

Seems to contradict page 243 of 1990 Jaguar Factory Drivers Handbook , under Engine Diagnostics Checks: FAULT CODE 26 is described as "air leak" and FUNCTION descriptor states "Look for poor feedback control in lean direction". ??????

Jaguar use low current wiring in their looms. The lights are switched via relays at the back of the car. Behind the boot (trunk) trim on the passenger side is a relay box. The brake light relay will be faulty or the relay base will have a short circuit across it.

Trouble code P0332 means:Knock sensor 2 low input

I have a 1999 Jaguar Vanden Plas, and unless you have a separate "car phone" installed as an option (by the way, this is an analog phone which no US company that I know of will let you activate anymore) then you do not have a "phone" even though the button is there, there are some companys like Parrot who make a bluetooth adapator that can be made to work with your audio system and a bluetooth enabled phone ( I am unsure if this will work with the upgraded Harmon Kardon audio system though, due to the amplifier) I hope this answer helps a little.

I have found that a fuse was out on the right side kick panel. Once the fuse was replaced the failure warning went out.On the dash there was a "circuit 2 failure message on my 1988 XJ40 or XJ6. After some poking around I noticed that the fuse for the Auxiliary Electric Fan on the radiator up front was blown. I replaced it, but after another drive was blown again. Some more poking around turned out that the Fan was in a rather sorry state of rust and barely turning thus creating a short and melting the fuse as soon as the relay will try to turn the circuit on. The fuse is not really labeled properly (and I don't really remember right now what position it was) However it is controlling the AC relay and all that grouping, Fan relay also. Checked the wires and fuse socket for signs of melting from somebody that might have put a higher amp fuse but found no problems. So I got a nice new looking Fan from the junkyard and the problem dissapeared and never I have seen it again...The car had many electrical problems to the point that the Electronic display was starting to look like a Christmas tree dispaly, flashing through various varnings and driving me nuts. With patience and using the info I have found on the web I have eliminated them all, except for a bulb failure warning that is really for real and legitimate (I am missing the light on the rear left bumper corner) Strangely enough the warning goes away sometimes for hours at a time...I don't own the original manual that came with the car, howver I think I have just about all documentation that is available for the XJ40 cars plus all the info on the web but nowhere there is any reference to any of the misterious "circuit n failure" warnings... All the other were somewhat clearer: (ABS) and so forth but these were a puzzle. Hope this helps somebody Cheers!!!Hi! Circuit 1 is a 15 A fuse on the right under dash area. It burn because of a short circuit in the central consol it is one of the two cigar (under it the mass touch the +) Disconect it removing the center panel consol (it is under the "allume cigar")

The High side switch has shorted in the Security/Locking Module. Purchase a BTS428L2/TO252-5 switch from Digikey.com, about $4. Get a TV repair guy to solder a new one on for about $50.

iI removed and replaced the disc holder to change the order of the disc play. Now the radio plays but the disc will not and I can't get holder out. I was careful to put it back in the same way it was previouly inserted. can any body help?

The DLC connector is located under the dash on the drivers side, above the acellerator pedal and attached to the console.

I am an ASE Certified Mechanic who just recently acquired a xj6 and needs a lower radiator hose and it was very easy, I came here looking fir a little extra tips, but found a smart allic who probably doesn't know how to hold a wrench...Get a lifeguy.

The gas release should be left side of driver's seat on the floorboard. I don't remember where the trunk release is or if there was one. I always used my key.

Actually, MSRP for the XJ6 vaden plas is 64,420....not many options available, came loaded..

Once the vehicle is unlocked. Push the jag symbol in the center of the trunk. This is a neat little hidden feature that took me about 2 years to figure out.

Jaguar recommends 10w-30 for 1997 XJ6 Vanden Plas

Rotate the mirror base 90 degrees clockwise and it will release from the base. Then remove the electrical harness. This came from a repair manual. I have not tried it.
