on the front its straightforward , just remove caliper remove old pads, push back pistons then fit new pads and refit caliper, rears are harder as you need a piston rewind tool,, without one its quite difficult to do,, basically the tool pushes back the piston and turns it clockwise at the same time , this is because the handbrake uses a ratchet which has to be wound back,, hope this helps,,

How do you change spark plugs on a Jaguar X type?
I have not done the job yet but this is what I am going to do. Remove plastic cover over the engine ( three screws) You then have access to the front three spark plugs ( cylinders 1,3,5) remove the nut which holds down the independent coils and remove the spark plugs, fit new spark plugs and fit coils on the three front cylinders.
Now it gets a little tricky, you will only be able to access number 2 back cylinder so you have to remove the induction manifold (12 bolts I think) to access the back three cylinders (2,3,6,) properly. Then proceed as with the front three spark plugs, refit manifold and plastic cover, job done.
Removing the inlet manifold on Jaguar X-Type
After disconnecting all the plugs and hoses to the inlet manifold (I left the throttle body on the manifold, disconnected the two small heater hoses) remove the two bolts holding the cable harness at the rear, then the single bolt just below the cable harness. This bolt is located lower and to the right hand side (looking at the engine) difficult, DON'T DROP IT)) remove the bolt securing the inlet manifold to the support bracket. (R/H side.) undo the SIX BOLTS (WARNING. These bolts are of various lengths NUMBER THEM SO THEY GO BACK CORRECTLY) remove manifold. (Make sure just tighten the first time round, once all are fitted and tightened then torque them down)
It is advised to change the upper inlet manifold gaskets, there are SIX of them.
To change the Plugs at the front it is necessary to remove the air cleaner box, after removing the two bolts and bracket at top remove the air filter, you will see two screws inside the bottom of the box, remove these, then pull the box in an upward direction.
Refitting is a reversal

Would x type jaguar wheels fit on an xj jaguar?
They would fit on the newer xj's, after 2003. But wouldn't fit on the older ones, XJ8 (x308) or XJ6 (300). The older xj's stud pattern is 5X120.65, while the newer, including the x type and s type, jags are 5X108. The older jags are hard cars to find mags for, as standard euro 5 studs are 5X120, not 5X120.65, and will not fit on a jag.

How do you check transmission fluid in 2002 jaguar x- type?
Checking the transmission fluid is an important part of owning a car. A person pulls out the dipstick while the car is warm, wipes it off, dips it into the car and looks at the level of the fluid on the stick.
Gear oil check usually means on the differential or standard transmission. It pretty much has the same method. there should be a plug about half way up the unit. Remove the plug, add the right oil (usually 80w/90) until it runs out. while your there, remove the plug on the bottom first and replace all the fluid with fresh oil. good luck.

How much is it to replace wheel bearings?
Between $250 and $350, it also depends on whether they have to align the wheels.
Yes and No.
If we are talking about the front wheel bearing you can do it yourself with a minimum of tools and time. Pick up a copy of haynes or chilton repair for the year of your vehicle the step by step instructions are very good. The rear wheel bearings are even easier to replace, but this depends on your vehicle make and model. In the case of the rear wheels if you can change a tire you can change the bearings, however this isn't the case for all cars.
Bearings cost from $40 to $400 and higher. Some cars require the entire hub assembly to be changed which could be even more expensive.
Labor will be about an hour for each bearing (about $70-$150) each.
Ans 2 - With so many of today's cars being front wheel drive, many amateurs can NOT replace front wheel bearings easily ! In these cases it's necessary to separate the main ball joint and remove the CV joint - NOT easy for an amateur
The cost to repair wheel bearings varies based on the exact part(s) being replaced, and the person doing the repair. It can run from $30 to $300+ just based on those variables alone.
