Why would my 2003 jaguar x-type oil pan leak?

Assuming you get regular oil changes you could have a cracked or split washer on the drainplug which will cause a leak. Else, you 've disturbed the oilpan itself and its leaking from the gasket that seals the pan to the bottom of the engine block. Causes of this can be using a trolley jack on the pan to lift the car, hitting the oilpan with kerb or raised manhole cover etc.. You don't need much force to knock the pan and outta alignment and disturb the seal. Repair.. replace the drain plug.. or replace the gasket and the bolts that hold the pan in place. Difficulty.. easier in a garage with a car lift.. 15 mins.. 25 mins on jackstands

What fuel injector cleaner is bet for a 2002 jaguar 3.0 x type?

The effectiveness of standalone fuel system cleaners is questionable and it can be hard to get the dilutions correct.

That said, most major brands may have a positive effect and are unlikely to cause any harm.

A better option may be to try a premium fuel from the mojor brands such as Shell V-power, BP Ultimate etc. This have very similar claims for cleaning properties and have the advantage of already being correctly dosed. They are typically only a small percentage dearer than standard fuel. The extra cost per tank will typically be less than a bottle of standalone cleaner.

  1. Connect the Jaguar Approved Diagnostic System.
  2. Make sure the transmission selector lever is in the "P" position.
  3. NOTE: Make sure the transmission fluid temperature is below 30°C (86°F) on the Jaguar Approved Diagnostic System.

With the engine running and the foot brake applied, circulate the transmission fluid by:

  • Moving the transmission selector lever to the -R- position
  • Waiting for three seconds.
  • Moving the transmission selector lever to the -D- position
  • Waiting for three seconds.
  • Moving the transmission selector lever to the -P- position
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  1. Remove the transmission undertray.
  2. Place a suitable container under the transmission fluid filler plug.
  1. WARNING: Make sure that care is exercised near rotating parts. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.

  1. NOTE: Make sure the transmission fluid temperature does not exceed 50°C (122°F) . If the transmission fluid temperature does exceed 50°C (122°F) stop the transmission fluid level check and allow the transmission fluid to cool until the temperature is below 30°C (86°F) .

Allow the transmission fluid to drain from the transmission fluid filler plug hole until the flow almost stops.

Step 2. Add the effective length of the special tool (2) to the effective length of the torque wrench (1).

Step 3. Divide the total of step 1 by the total of step 2.

Step 4. Set the torque wrench to the figure arrived at in step 3.

  • Tighten the transmission fluid fill plug to the torque given by the calculation.

Why won't car start in cold but starts in warmer weather?

I am not an expert, but maybe the oil is of the wrong weight- too thick to turn engine, or maybe the starter is not working as it should (not turning freely)- maybe there is no juice going to starter, maybe the cables to the starter are corroded- need cleaning and tightening, maybe the solenoid is not working properly and if it is an older Dodge they had a ballist resistor that would go bad and stop it from running and you cold get it to run intermittently till it died, maybe you need a higher cranking starter, a higher cranking alternator-generator, the battery may have enough juice in warm weather, but the cold draws from it and is not strong enough to start it in the cold or any other number of things. What you've given is not much to go on as you did not state what the car does before during or after it runs-when it runs, etc. Some cars especially Dodge when it rains if there is a crack in the distributor cap it won't start and it can cause skipping that goes away when dry. Good Luck!

Headlight won't adjust by screw under hood on my 2005 jaguar x-type?

Remove ribbed round cover on back of light assembly by turning CCW. You may need to remove a small water hose to get to 1 of the covers. Gently try to move bulb socket up and down. If it moves easily and is loose, that is the problem.

Use a small mirror to inspect the plastic adjustment parts that are inside and HIGH up. If they are not broken into pieces, maybe you can re-align the parts that push the assembly (causing the light beam to move up or down more) that fell out of place when someone turned the adjustment too much.

Those plastic parts are NOT sold unless you buy the entire headlight assembly. Some people glue them back together (GOOD LUCK) But I prefer the 5 minute FIX which is: Drill or burn with a heated flat blade screwdriver tip, 2 holes below and on the sides of the bulb connector. Insert a plastic tie strap tip end (size of about 3/16" X 12") down thru a hole from inside the assembly, then up thru the other hole and back inside. Start tightening it up with it looped over the bulb connector so that when tightened it lowers the rear end of the bulb. Be carefull not to let anything touch where it could overheat or cause a problem.

When it just begins to move the connector & the bulb base downward, (which will cause the light beam to shine higher) turn on the lights and continue gently and very slowly tightening the loop (make sure you get the slack out of the tie wrap on the bottom of the assembly) until the light beam is where you want it (about 26" to 28" high more or less) from the car. If you over tighten, cut the strap and start over.

When certain the adjustment is done, you might want to cut off some of the excess tie strap, but leave an inch or 2 just in case you need to pull on it again. Put some duct seal, silicon or other sealer on and around inside and outside the 2 holes so moisture does not get into the assembly. NOW TEST DRIVE IT. Follow these ideas at your OWN RISK.
