Just find sam1174 on youtube (xk8 instrument cluster bulb replacement) - he has videos of removal of centre panel and instrument cluster area. The passenger side comes off much the same way revealing two bolts that hold the bag (and stop it hitting you in the face ;).

Briefly : (driver side) raise the steering wheel and undo the bolts on the lower bolster (x2). Remover the bolster, disconnecting the valet and temp sensor switches as you go (x2). Lower the wheel and disconnect battery (neg. terminal), remove 2 lower screws, then pull out and down to remove the wood trim.

Centre section: use a trim remover to lever out the bottom edge, the raise the whole section slightly and pull out at the top - should be held at an angle as the tabs at the top are angled upwards into the dash top.

Air ducts at the sides are just pulled off.

The battery is located in the trunk.

under vechile near rear of engine going in from engine side toward transmission there is a 2 wire sensor with 1 bolt holding it in.

Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.

It could possibly be your mass air flow sensor is dirty. Go to autozone and buy mass airflow sensor cleaner, take the sensor off the car right next to the air filter on the passenger side under the hood on the intake with a screw driver. Read the directions on the cleaner carefully, apply the cleaner to the sensor. The car may run rough for a few days then clear up and the restricted performance light should go off. If the restricted performance light doesn't go off and the car still runs rough take it to auto zone and have them put it on their computer free of charge and it will more than likely still say it is the mass air flow sensor, which means the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. The cleaner is around ten dollars and the new sensor is about $160.00, but let the cleaner work it may feel like the car is falling apart after the sensor is cleaned but dont take any action unless the car still runs rough after a week to a week and a half.

If you have lost compression on several cylinders, and the car will not start, then its a cleaning problem and not a mechanical problem. The intake valves have got dirty and cannot seal very well, take off intake manifold and clean valves at the seat area.

This should bring compression back. Usual cause is a commute of a mile or two, not allowing for complete engine warm up, lots of gook condensed in intake manifold.

Pressing valet mode locks the glovebox and trunk so that only your own 'proper' key can open them. The valet key cannot open those; it can only operate the engine and the doorlocks.

Actually, you have to manually lock the glove box, but other than that the answer is correct. Just make sure you give the valet the green key, not the black key.

It is located to the passenger side of the rear speaker deck. You must 1st remove the rear lower seat, (there are 4 release levers under the front of the back seat). Then you must remove the back section of the back seat by pulling the release straps that you will see after you get off the lower seat. BECAREFUL of the wiring going to the heated seats and other wires running in the area. You will see 3 hand screwsat the top that holds on the cover over the speakers and entire rear deck. Remove these. Now the hard part, You must becareful of the airbags in the side sections. Some try to access the speaker without taking these off. You can lift the deck cover up carefully and see the little speaker all the way to the right(passenger)side. IF YOUR NOT COMFORTABLE WORKING AROUND OR WITH AIRBAGS YOU SHOULD TAKE IT TO A QUALIFIED TECH TO DO THIS.

the motor should have two leads, usually a black and a white. connect the white to the fusebox and the black to a ground.

The oxygen sensors are located in the exhaust downpipes and measure the O2 content of exhaust gasses.

European models have two sensors, one in each down pipe.

US models have four sensors, the second pair is fitted after the catalytic converters to allow the ECU to monitor effectiveness.

The wiring for the sensors is routed to the rear of the tranny bell housing secured in place by metal clips.

Your trans is either low on fluid,(difficult to check when not a tech) or trans failure. if you check the fluid and it is dark and smells bad and/or metal flakes are in the fluid..... stick a fork in it.

Depending on the year it is either £75 or £150 from a main dealer (as of 2009), plus a further hour of labour to pair it to the car (otherwise it's no good).

with the power seat switch on the side of the seat (drivers or passengers side). The same switch that reclines the seat back is used 'up' or 'down' for the headrest.

You've got the same fingers the mechanic has don't you!? First unclip the two metal brackets holding the rubber boot that covers the back of the headlamp fixture and remove it.

Locate the bulb you wish to change and turn to release it.

Change the bulb and reassemble.

x308 (1997 - 2002): two knock sensors, one on each bank, under inlet manifold.

Later aj27 model uses ring type sensors.

The connectors are either side of the thermostat housing at the front of the engine.
