you need to open your trunk, turn ignition only to 2nd notch (do not start) toggle your valet switch 4-5 times till you hear a chirp (this indicates the vehicle is now in learn mode)

Hold your remote button till lights flash and car will chirp once more to let you know remote has been set.

in the 1998 xj8 the standard speaker size is 5.25 4 ohm load no exteral amp. and if you have the alpine unit it is 6.5 there is an exteral amp that must be removed before replacing the speakers.

In the rear deck for the alpine system there is a 6x9 sub connected to an amp under the 6 disk changer located either under the rear deck in the trunk or in the left side wheel well.

Don't change the lights, they are probably ok. It took me ages to find the cause on my 98 XJ8. The trunk lid latch has a microswitch hidden in it. This is operated by a plunger which pops out of the mechanism when the trunk lid is released. The lights stay on until you close the lid and the plunger retracts, shutting off the lights.

I got access by removing the plugs retaining the lid interior trim and removing the screws and cable retainers, the latch can then be winkled out without removing the rod from the right hand key unit. My microswitch was ok, I just had to bend its bracket slightly so that the plunger operated it properly! Works OK now. Good Luck!

It's located on the lower right (passenger) front side of the car. If you look behind the radiator and look at the serpentine belt, it is the lowest pulley on the right side connected to the serpentine belt. Removal is a lot of fun. Once the alternator is disconnected from the car, I found that only way to take it out was by removing the right front tire and taking off a plastic liner to get access to the alternator. It was also helpful to remove the oil filter (and drain the oil of course). Have fun! It's located on the lower right (passenger) front side of the car. How do i replace subwootfer 2002 xj8

It means that the computer has detected a fault code that needs attention. Unfortunately, it isn't possible to guess what the computer is trying to tell you until you connect a code reader.

Pull the carpet back in the right hand footwell, reach behind the footwell side plate on the right and you will find a black, cylindrical device with a rubber top. Press down on the rubber top with your finger and the device is then reset

set phone in airplane mode, place in glove box, hold power button on radio unit while in bluetooth mode and pump the breaks three times then release the power button should be all set after that

The Module is in the wiper motor assembly. Unless the switch is bad, most problems can be resolved by changing the two control relays located left front of the engine compartment or the wiper motor assembly. A lot of times cleaning the connector plug to the motor assembly will do the job. Use contact cleaner, WD 40, PB Blaster, etc. Avoid getting cleaner on surrounding area and do when engine is cold. Incidentally, you can purchase the relays from parts outlets for about 8/9 bucks a piece. I got mine from Rock Auto on line. Cleaning the connector base on the relays sometimes help. For some reason, switches and connectors on these cars don't do well around damp, or salty climates, re: beach, rivers, snow/salt areas,etc. That's probably true for most vehicles.

This happened to me once. It is because the car thinks one of the doors (include bonnet and boot) is still open. Go around and open and shut all doors, the bootlid, petrol cap and bonnet. It'll probably still beep at you! Now open the bonnet again and look at the front on the slam panel above the radiator. You should see a small black rubber plunger. That is the switch that tells the car that the bonnet is shut. Give it a few plunges and reclose the boot. Hopefully that will solve your problem. In my case it was because the garage had taken my bonnet off for some complex servicing and the plunger needed a bit of a wiggle.

Listed new at some places for a little over $38US. Used is less. I have one to go with my real one. Model is nice, figure worth about $15-$20.

Very easy to replace, but you have to match numbers under hood by engine bay, then when you replace it, you have to get it programmed at dealership or it still wont work! but replacing it is the easy part. Good luck!

the fuel pump is in the petrol tank which is behind the rear seats. access to it is via the boot behind the carpet on back of rear seats.

on the passenger side front wheel well in the engine compartment there is a stud with a black cover snap off lid and two big wires, that look almost like tubing, running to it. Hook pos+ there and neg- to the metal somewhere.

I have a 98 XJ8L & I used the coolant that you get from the dealer. However, I was told another mechanic that I trust that Dex-cool can be used too. It's the type that needs no water added and it's Orange in color. The thing about the coolant from Jaguar is that it's concentrated. You have to use mix with water in equal parts. So if you use 50% coolant, U have to add 50% water. So if you go to the deal and get it, be ready to spend $50 or more to get it. The Dex-cool is around $15 - $20.
