First check your fuses. Next check your fan to see if it is working and if the wires are hooked up. The fan is located in the engine compartment on the passenger side. If the fan tests good it is your heater relay located on the heater core cover or the fan switch on the heater control. The heater control is in the passenger compartment.

The fan switch will usually work on at least one setting.

according to the owners manual for my 1987 Grand Wagoneer, it holds 20.3 gallons

I though this would be easy since my horn still works-- so I opened my 89 Wagoneer's hood and looked and looked-- and looked some more, but never found the horn either.

I DID find the horn relay (I think) behind the head light assembly on the drivers side. If you find your horn and have a minute or two please let me know at tjuul02@yahoo.com

I did however recently order a new CHILTON repair manual from Rockauto.com so maybe in a few days I'll know much more than I do now about many things on this Wagoneer.

If it has a 360 motor the mechanical fuel pump is located below the distributor. there could be an after market electrical fuel pump located near the tank. these answers are based upon my 89 grand wagoneer with a 360. The fuel pump on an 88 Wagoneer is in the fuel tank itself.

the only way I know to repair this is to remove the steering wheel and the turn signal mechanism. There is most likely a worn or broken part on or next to the switch that will need to be replaced. The switch itself is the most likely problem. you will need special tools to remove and replace the steering wheel with out damage. There is a strong coil spring that is virtually impossible to work with with out the correct tool.The good news these can be purchased or rented cheaply. good luck

As a general rule 87,88,89,90,91 have many interchangeable parts but there are some from older vehicles that will also interchange.

The answer depends a lot on where the gas leak was and how it was fixed. it is possible that dirt got into your fuel line. Is there a filter between the repair and the carb? If there is change it. If not check the carb its probably ditrty or posibly damaged due to dirt. It could also be you diconected a vacuum line with out knowing it. if non of this helps give more details of the engine size where the gas leak was and what was done. good luck damnjeepdriver

The American Motor company (AMC) made all of the 360 cubic inch V8 engines for the Wagoneers, even after Jeep was turned over to Chrysler in 1987.

Ahhh.... The bain of any Jeeper.... will one Jeep engine fit another Jeep application???? With the AMC 360 you're pretty safe as far as the engine goes. But you better make certain that the Mopar 727 will work without all the computer junk. It's going to be the '73s lack of electronics that's going to be the problem. You're going to have to swap the intake and exhaust manifolds for sure, front bracketry for the smog pump, and qute possibly the pulleys too. Jeep4x.com and Grandwagoneer.com is a great source for intormation. I've been down this road in the mixing and matching of Jeep running gear into a non Jeep vehicle. Lots of fun. Kept the axles, but ran with a non Jeep engine and tranny.

if you have the room you need to use a punch and put it squarely on the head of the bolt and use a hammer and hit it repeatedly with moderate to light pressure this will take a lot of time and Patience but what you are doing is creating vibration on the bolt that will loosen the rust holding it. The vibration is essentially what an impact wrench will do to break it loose. this is just the old fashion slow way if you cant get to it with any thing else.

I would recommend that if you have never changed an engine before and are sure you want to try that you get an auto repair manual. Try to find some one close that has changed engines that can answer questions as they come up.

The basic thing is to take pictures before you start and mark where EVERYTHING goes.

Drain your fluids and start removing parts. put everything back together in reverse.

I have changed engines by myself and there are few things more rewarding than the first time it runs. Be prepared for a lot of work and some agrivation.

The first is the hardest. I was 15when I helped some high school buddies change an engine for the first time. i have done several since and i still take pictures and mark everything.

It is also helpfull if you put as many bolts back in their holes as possible. if it is not possible then get several small containers and mark them. Alternator, power steering, bellhousing,etc. this way you will save a lot of time trying to remember which bolt went where.

My owner's manual for my 1988 Grand Wagoneer has a diagram that shows the cigareete lighter fuse to be a 10 amp fuse located 1 tier up from the bottom of the fuse box on the left hand corner. It is apparently the same fuse as for the radio.

No it does not. It uses a Chrysler 727 automatic that uses a shift modulator rod that comes down from the carburator. The 70's vintage fullsize Jeeps use a GM Turbo 400 that had a vacuum module...
