turn on num lock. you need to have a full keyboard for this. hold the alt key and press 0179. release the alt key. the numbers at the top of the keyboard do not work for these special numbers. you need the numbers at the right of the regular keyboard for this to work. :D

@...the AT symbol is located...on my 'own' keyboard, at least, next to the [COLON(:)/SEMI-COLON(;)] key. It's above the [single quote(')/(@)]...that means it's an UPPER CASE symbol.

To obtain UPPER CASE 'letters/symbols/numbers' that are shown on your keyboard...you need to...

1. press, and, hold down the [SHIFT] button key...

-(which is, usually, shown as being an 'upwards arrow'...there are two [SHIFT] button keys, each located on either side of the keyboard, next to/and, on top of both the [CTRL] keys)-

2. ...whilst at the same time, pressing down the [@] symbol key.

SOME FURTHER NOTES

ASCII/American Standard Code for Information Interchange, uses the numbers:

-> 65-90, to represent UPPER CASE alphabet letters: A-Z

-> 97-122, to represent 'lower case' alphabet letters: a-z

-etc.

You can have a go at experimenting, try typing in all of the ASCII code numbers: 0-255;

NOTE: Some ASCII number codes are, in fact, 'invisible' characters that will NOT display...;

such as ASCII number 32 represents a [SPACEBAR] key invisible 'space' character/

Alt and Ctrl key are special keys. Then can be used as quick menu button or can be used to execute a program. You can also use them to do a shortcut key command.

The very top ones are function keys. The number ones are: Exclamation Mark, At sign, Pound, Dollar sign, Percent, Circumflex accent, And sign, Asterisk, and Left and Right Parenthesis.

There are two kinds of indents. The first is called a hanging indent and it looks like this:

Hanging indent means that the first line of the text is left hanging out in front of the remainder of the text which is indented beneath it.

The second kind of indent is the margin indent. It changes the margins for subparagraphs or is used for a visual cue that brings attention to something specific. In this case, nothing is left hanging like above. Instead, all the lines are flush to the new margins of the involved text. Once finished with a margin indent, you return to the regular margins of the document. Think of it as sort of a temporary margin within your document. It look like this:

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy red dog. The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy red dog. The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy red dog. The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy red dog.

Now, we're back at the regular margin of the document as you can see on the left. This is where a keyboardist continues with the main body of the text.

If your on Microsoft Word, you have to go to "Insert", go to the very right of it and it will allow you to put in symbols. The e should be there. If you're on a Mac, it's probably a similar process.

It's your tire pressure monitor display. If you've recently had a puncture repaired this light will be on. You can generally reset it (make it go out) by turning your key in the ignition until the dash lights come on. Then press the buttons in your fuse panel one by one until the light starts to flash. Then hold that button down for 10-15 seconds and the light should go out. I believe this information is also found in your Owner's Manual.

If you're talking about a program where you want to increase the size, like Open Office, Word, etc., there is a tab that says Font, with numbers, starting with the regular size of 12.

If you're talking about websites to use optional font size, hold down your Control Key and press the plus (+) sign. To reduce, hold down the Control Key and press the minus (-) sign.

Text color is the color of your letters. When you use text color, only the letter itself is colored. No white space is anywhere within your text or letters.

When you color highlight text, you enclose your selected text in a solid strip of color that colors even that white spaces between words, letters, and inside letters.

DEL key (delete key) gets rid of the things on front of the cursor. Backspace gets rid of things behind the cursor.DEL key is used to delete files

Press the three keys Command, Option/Alt and T together to open the Character palette. In the View menu (At the top) choose All Characters. Click the triangle next to Symbols (in the middle section) and then select Technical Symbols to find the Cloverleaf Command symbol (⌘). Click on the symbol in the Character info box (or click and drag the symbol) to insert in your text. All available characters can be found via the Character palette.

Total words (5 characters = 1 word), divided by number of minutes of the timing, minus 2 for each error = nwpm

So, if you typed 75 words in 3 minutes with 2 errors on the timing, you would calculate net words per minute as follows:

75 words, divided by 3 (number of minutes) = 25 gwpm (gross words per minute) minus 4 (2 errors) = 21 nwpm - (net words per minute)
