Hi, I had the same problem with my 2004 sedona. It sometimes took 2 or 3 tries to get it to turn over. Steadily getting worse. the fault is the starter motor and it will need replacing unfortunately.

How often should the transmission be drained on a 2005 kia sendoa lx?

The local Kia dealership located a leak at the top plug (transmission fluid visible on top of the transmission directly below the place where you add brake fluid) on my 2003 Kia Spectra. They charged me $92 for the full diagnostic test to determine where the leak is. This model is somewhat similar but not identical to Sedona. They cannot repair the leak (not serviceable without replacing the transmission with a rebuilt unit) so I am proposing to use alternate methods to stop the leak (leak sealer added to fluid to recondition the hardened seals and other attempts to seal up an area around the seal to "reduce" but not completely stop the leak because vehicle is no longer worth $1600 repair. Your Sedona may be leaking from the pan gasket (relatively inexpensive to replace gasket and you should first slightly tighten pan bolts) OR from the drain plug (rarely) or from the front or rear seal (both replacements for these are expensive). My car, when purchased brande new, had a defective transmission and had to be replaced along with torque converter with rebuilt transmission (no new ones available) and I was unable to persuade the dealer to locate a new transmission instead. My hunch that I would experience more problems was correct. I have 155,000 miles on the vehicle.

--Update 7/26/2012. I was able to keep treating the transmission with leak sealer and had 197,000 miles on the vehicle before it was wrecked by my daughter when she attempted to avoid hitting a deer (nobody hurt). The transmission continued to function normally despite the leak.

I recently did this for my 2004. I found it was cheaper to replace the entire wheel hub then to buy the bearings. The bonus is the new wheel hub comes with the bearings already to go.

open hatch on van , and remove 2 screws on the tail light , then slide tail light to the out side of van , for example , if u are working on passenger side tail light , slide it to your right , it DOES NOT come straight out it slides out , and the driver side light slides to your left.

then twist connectors which holds the bulbs , and remove light. and push in and twist bulb its self to remove old bulb , and replace with new bulb the same way push new bulb in and twist opposite way

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank and the fuel tank will have to be removed to access it. If you do not have the skill or equipment to do this properly, I suggest taking it to a shop.

I would use the overdrive during normal driving. How ever if you need that little extra power then i would just turn it off. haveing the overdrive on all the time during normal driving " not pulling a boat or another car" should save you a little gas. just think of your overdrive as a half gear need more power go to the full gear
