it would be smart to pull both and bring them into a machine shop to be checked for minute cracks and warping. It would be naive and expensive to do the job twice. also find out what caused the overheating in the first place or it will happen again.

Loss of coolant because of a leak is probably the most common cause of overheating. Possible leak points include hoses, the radiator, heater core, water pump, thermostat housing, head gasket, freeze plugs, automatic transmission oil cooler, cylinder head(s) and block. Make a careful visual inspection of the entire cooling system, and then pressure test the cooling system and radiator cap. A pressure test will reveal internal leaks such as seepage past the head gasket as well as cracks in the head or block. A leak-free system should hold pressure for at least a minute or more. It's important to pressure test the radiator cap, too, because a weak cap (or one with too low a pressure rating for the application) will lower the coolant's boiling point and can allow coolant to escape from the radiator. You jack up the rear of the car so both wheels are off the ground. Turn either wheel forward, if the other wheel turn backword then it's an open differential, if it turns forward then it has a LSD.

Lift the back of the vehicle.Use jack stands.First you will need to remove 4 bolts (14mm) off of the rear end.Second you will need to remove 2 bolts from the center bearing (also 14mm from top)Pull forward to release from differential then pull back to remove from transmission (be sure to use small pan to catch any fluid that may come out.(Awesome you got it out now the fun begins)You will need to remove inner clips (flat head screw driver will do)I used two sockets one bigger and one smaller than the universal cups and of course a hammer (try not to hit bar lobes can easily be damaged. after they are out you'll want to clean the inner lobes of both sides (i used sand paper) then used a little grease to make the installation of caps easier (very important not to lose any needle bearings i filled caps with grease so needles wont fall out of place don't worry excess grease grease can always be wiped off) Place the universal joint in the lobes and then gently place caps on both sides. Use a 6 inch C clamp to push caps on both sides back in you may need to tap a little with hammer then install clips using pliers. finally install shaft back into trans tighten center bearing and then install the last 4 bolts to rear end. carefully bring back down and drive. total time 3hrs here some extra info.

1) install grease fitting first before installing u-joint be sure to place fitting in angle

this will make it easier to use grease gun

2) lube all u-joints before installation of shaft. this will be easier than doing it under vehicle

The light came on for a fuel temp sensor that they thought was bad. $1300 later they had swapped the sensor (which they said the new one was bad too so they needed to change it again). They changed the alternator and battery because both died to whatever problem this is. Long story short, get it into the dealer or a garage quickly before it up and dies on you for good. I had the same problem and it was the differential and the axell that was bad, the dealer repalaced it for free it was under warranty

There is a drain plug for the transmission fluid under the Sorento. It is about halfway back and is attached to a silver transmission fluid reservoir. All you do is drain the fluid and replace the drain plug. Then add new fluid (about 4 quarts) from the engine bay. There is a dipstick labeled AT Fluid. Remove it and add new fluid there.

Could you rephrase the question? Not sure if you are asking a question or making a statement about your car. Normally the OD will turn off if under a certain speed/load condition (slow speeds, high load).

Easily seats 5 safely and legally--- One more would crowd the back seat and not have a seatbelt.

With proper maintenance you should easily be able to go 175,000 miles without a major repair. But know that the older the car and the more miles it is driven the chances of a major repair go up. You could get 200,000 mies but it is impossible to predict.

There is a black plastic cap to the right of the manifold (or to the left of the battery). It has a plastic bolt on the top of the cap. Very difficult to get off.
