Lake Superior's basin was formed over one billion years ago by tectonic forces. Lava escaped around the edges of a large caldera or plateau, causing it to collapse and form a basin that solidified over time. This "Superior Basin" was then later filled with water during the glacial periods which filled the basin when the glaciers retreated northwards.

The price will depend a lot upon size, shape, quality, color, and banding, cut or uncut. For the most part, the answer is no, as most would not handle the rough water. However, some more high pontoon boats could probably handle occasional shallow water ocean usage.

I would think some of the larger tri hulled models such as the ones at the link provided below could handle it.
