How do you remove pedastel brackets from Acer x193w?
To remove the mounting pedestal/stand:
On the rear of the monitor you will find two covers around and inch or so square covering the top sides of the monitor bracket where it meets the back of the panel - these can be prized of with a small flat-bladed screwdriver (I think there are little "notches" for inserting the screwdriver to remove them).
Once the covers are off simply unscrew the bolts fastening the stand to the panel. Replace the bolts in the holes they came from then replace the cover - that way you won't lose the screws in case you want to remount the stand, and the covers look better than the bare mounting areas.
Why are laptop screens thinner than tv screens?
There are three reasons why a laptop screen is thinner than most television screens.
First, laptops are engineered to be as small as possible for portability. The thinner a laptop, the more attractive it is to a purchaser. Designers go to great lengths to reduce the depth. The desire for slim screens for televisions has been far less so there has been less effort to reduce the depth.
Next, laptops have all the processing electronics under the keyboard so the screen assembly is only housing the screen. A television uses the depth behind the screen for processing components such as receivers, scalers, control hardware and more. The additional circuit board all add to the depth
Finally, television displays tend to be much larger than laptops. The additional size demands different solutions to light the screen evenly. There is also a significant amount of heat generated which needs to be dissipated. Additional depth behind the screen allows heat to be removed more easily.
When television buyers begin to demand slimmer screens, manufacturers will respond with new products. The trend has already started with the use of LEDs for illumination rather than fluorescent lighting. An LED based LCD television can be half the depth of fluorescent models.

Go there, download Sandra, from there you can find out what your motherboard is, what your RAM is and how much you have and most other things you'd like to know about your computer.
You may use the benchmark
if you know who made your PC and itsmodel number OR if you know what motherboardyou have you can search it on the netalso if you have the manual it will say.otherwise check the bios as it almostalways will say what the CPU speed, bus, ram isif all else fails remember that ifyou have a CPU with a 133mhz+ bus then it is prob DDR AMD advertizesthere bus as twice the real speedbecause it works in a way to doublethe effective speed. so 100mhz is 200mhzand 133mhz is 266mhz and so on.if your system is 100mhz (200mhz)then it 100% takes pc100/pc133unless someone put a older cpuin your newer board.
Being lazy, this is the way I'd do it. Go to www.belarc.com, and grab a free copy of Belarc Advisor. This little gem is free for personal use. Run it, and it makes up a COMPLETE inventory of your machine, and all the hardware and software on it. Then, if you go to crucial.com, you can search for ram for your exact model of motherboard. Crucial will show you a list of all types of ram that will work on your particular board, or at least all types that they have available. Simple, easy, takes just a few minutes, and there you go. Slick as a politician at a town meeting.

you can also get the hash key, by entering the password 3 times incorrectly then pressing F12 on the 3rd password attempt, you will get the 5 digit hash.
you can then go to this site http://dogber1.blogspot.com/2009/05/table-of-reverse-engineered-bios.html
and download the software for your machine (hewlett packard)
and run the program pwgen-5dec.exe this will open in a DOS window if you are running windows.
the program will ask you to enter your 5 digit hash
it will then generate the master password for your machine. the password you will need is listed under the Hp/Phoenix password.

This Sony VAIO Gate software is a feature of new Windows 7 VAIOs. This is supplied with the laptop and is currently not officially available as a separate download. It can be downloaded from the link in related links section.
You can hook up an external monitor to it. Most notebooks have a VGA port. If the laptop is on, you will need to use a key sequence, usually FN+F5 or FN+F4 or FN+F7. There should be a symbol that looks kind of like a monitor on one of the F keys. That is the one you should press along with the FN key.
Most of the time if you connect the monitor to it while it is off and then turn it on the monitor will automatically come on.
You could consider replacing the screen. The price is usually under $100.
