What tools do you need to change brake rotors?
Basic tools are required, a jack to lift the car off the ground and a jack stand to insure safety, once off the ground and supported you will need to get a socket or commonly called(lug Wrench) with 19mm or 21mm socket head depending on your lug size. It is usually easier to lift and support both sides at the same time with the car in park emergency brake set key on so the steering wheel isn't locked. Then once wheels are off you will need a 17 mm wrench/ socket to remove the brake caliper bracket. Once done you should loosen the bleeder valve with either a 8,9 or 10 mm wrench depending on the model, carefully not to get air into the system, and depress the caliper using a tool sold at any kragen or auto parts retailer for about 5 bucks. Imediatly when it bottoms out you should tighten the bleed screw to prevent any air from getting in the system. It is useful to have the master cylinder cap off so any fluid that is not needed in the system can be drained out. It also helps to leave the inner brake pad installed (clipped on) when depressing the caliper so you know when you are getting close to bottoming out the caliper. Next you will need a 13,or 14mm wrench to take the caliper apart to install your new pads. Make sure you use anti-squeak brake adheasive to prevent the loud embaressing noise when brakes are applied. It should be a free floating brake rotor that can come off using minimal force.( should slide right off). You then have your rotors measured for proper spec.s to see if they can be turned or just buy new rotors and replace as needed. (note: turning rotors at a local machine shop can save you money but can take up most of the day trying to find someone to turn them and then having them turned, also new rotors are thicker and disapates heat better allowing your brakes to last longer and are only about 10-15 bucks a side more exspensive then having them turned). Repeat the steps backwards making sure you clean all parts with brake clean to prevent squeaks. Good luck.

How do you replace rear rotors on RX300?
On my 2000 Sonata, it was pretty straightforward. Loosen lug bolts on wheel. Jack up the car and finish removing the wheel lug nuts, remove tire. Remove brake calipers. Two bolts. Suspend caliper to remove weight from the caliper hose. The rotor should be able to be straight pulled off. It might need some banging with a rubber mallet. Use eye protection. Make sure your parking brake is off, as the parking shoes are inside the rotor and will hold the rotor tight if on. If this is unsuccessful, there is one or two screws on the rotor that can be removed and a longer screw inserted and tightened, this will lift the rotor off of the inner hub. Don't break the screw. Slide the rotor off, then replace it with the new rotor, replace caliper and probably a new set of brake pads. Replace wheel and lug nuts, lower car to ground and finish tightening the lug nuts to torque found in owners manual.

Yes. My 91 Stanza was running poorly, poor gas milage, the speedometer works sometimes, when i hit a bump it will do the opposite - if it was working and i hit a bump it will stop working until i hit another bump. I resolder each solder at the back of it and problem solved. Better gas milage.

Location of engine oil filter for Lexus RX300?
On my wife's 2003 model, the filter is located underneath the front exhaust header. It's toward the left side of the engine as you face the engine with the hood up (the passenger side of the car). I just changed it and it was the first time in forty years that I could not budge the filter! The dealer did the previous change and ran the filter down to the rim. No amount of expletives will satisfy my rage! There are instructions on the side of every filter I've ever seen - grrr!
Okay, back on task. You can see the filter from the top through the little space between the header pipes. Stock filters are black. You can also gain access to the filter from underneath the car by removing the nine or ten 10mm bolts from the panel aft of the front bumper. The two outboard bolts are different than the others so take note. My oldest son was eventually able get it loose from above but the final removal was from below. This was after an hour or so of beating on it with a hammer and 3/4 inch pipe attempting to apply force to the tangent of the circle - if you know, you know - if you don't, I'm not going to explain it here. Amazon sells at least two different type of "tripod" type filter wrenches that I will likely buy before the next change. I'll also be looking for a longer filter or a spacer in order to make access easier. Japanese designs are usually pretty good but not this time. Oh, and my ex-dealer will get the old filter and a piece of my mind too.
