Mac OS X 10.4 was called Tiger and Mac OS X 10.5 was called Leopard. The 10.5 (Leopard) version is better than the 10.4 (Tiger) version. They would not have sold many copies of Leopard if it was worse than Tiger.

Are Windows and Mac operating systems interchangeable?

Answer

I think so because I know that my friends can run windows and mac on his mac book.

Answer

Yes, you can run both Windows and OS X on a Mac with an Intel processor, but you have to reboot in order to switch operating systems. Only one OS is accessible at a time.

Intel Macs can run Windows in its native format, but a PC can't run Mac OS X unless you install an emulator. Emulators can allow a user to run operating systems other than those for which the computer was designed, but the programs are slower than mud flowing uphill.

HOW TO VIDEO FROM Vcr to mac?

You need a digitizer or a DV videocamera. There are two basic types of digitizers: Firewire and USB. Most camcorder that have the mini DV tapes also have the jacks to connect to a vcr and a firewire cable (also called iLink) goes from the camera to the computer. You'll need to check your camera manual for how to connect it and how to start the process) Generally speaking, the camcorder circuits handle the analog to digital conversion and iMovie and other video editing software have an Import button that starts importing footage automatically. As for the digitizer approach....Here are some manufacturers who make the little boxes that convert plain old analog audiovideo coming from your standard VCR and pipe it into your computer via a Firewire cable: In no particular order: Pinnacle, Canopus, AVerMedia, Dazzle/Hollywood, Plexor, Elgato) There are tons of additional features on these boxes. Some have a TV tuner so you can watch tv on your computer or use your computer like a VCR to record shows. Others allow you to compress video without putting more work on your computer's processor. The basic components you need are Inputs: Composite and S-Video. Outputs: Firewire (or USB) Composite and S-video

How many hours can you be on the Internet with a 2 gigabyte limit?

The limits placed on Internet usage by some ISPs relates to the amount of material you are downloading rather than a specific time limit. The time it would take to use a 2 Gigabyte limit would depend upon what you were doing. If you are just checking email and browsing the occasional web site then a 2 Gigabyte limit may be sufficient. If you are viewing video, listening to music; or buying and downloading movies, music, software etc. then you can use 2 Gigabytes in a day or two - a single movie from iTunes, for example, can be around 2 Gigabytes in size.

How to I reduce the size of items on monitor screen?

For this, you need to change the resolution on your screen. This is done (depending on your Operating System) by right clicking on the desktop -> going to personalize -> Display Settings -> and changing the resolution by sliding the bar. You generally want it to be the biggest possible.

If there are no options for sliding the bar, then your Operating System probably needs a better graphics driver, or a better graphics card.

Why did Joan of acr wore men clothing?

Joan of Acr was a warrior and leader of an army. The women's clothing of the day where very impractical, although pretty, clothes such as dresses and corsets. She needed clothing that was flexible and practical. Something that would allow her to ride horse, run quickly, crawl through mud, and be light was a must. I also imagine that the men she was leading saw her as more of an authority figure by wearing men's clothes then if she had been giving them orders while looking as pretty as a doll.

How do you select non-contiguous text on a Mac - All the places say it's command-click but that doesn't work?

Selecting non-contiguous text is not a system wide feature of Mac OS X and needs to be implemented within each application. Applications such as Apple's TextEdit and Microsoft's Word do have the ability to hold down the Command key and select additional non-contiguous text but many applications do not include this option.

Does Mac need Mac OS X?

Macs are designed to function best with Mac OS X and the associated iLife software (iPhoto, iMovie etc.) but they can happily run Windows or Linux. Rather than change a Mac to the another operating systems you can run Windows using an emulator (Xp, Vista and 7 - use "Sandbox").

But for professionals that want more out of excellent hardware, Linux has tools for most - without the need for "Appstore". So, i run MacOS one one partition, have installed "REFIt" that enables triple boot: MacOS, Windows and Ubuntu Studio. I have installed some more eyecandy Ubuntu, music and video editing software, and this can access the MacOS HFS file system - and even fix it (install all the "hfs" tools). But things that I like, such as the Docking, is installed, but the top, shared menu line that changes for the window that is active, has been replaced by a "Windows-like" menu.

The "ext4" filesystem is aparently more robust than hfs. There are some issues with the using the journalling in hfs from Linux, so be careful. Otherwise, things like email should be able to use the same files. I can "see" all my MacOS files from Linux, and all the Windows files - and when I need a MacOS tool, it is just to reboot and run MacOS - or Windows (this is usually just emulated in "Wine"/"Vm").
