There is no reason to change a MaC address, only possible answer is if you have commited a criminal offence in IT, such a hacking and want to change your MaC address.

To recover old files you will need to have saved them somewhere. Time Machine is software that automates the saving process so you do not have to think about it. There is software that may be able to salvage material that has been saved and then deleted but this will not always work as some of the file may have been written over and permanently lost. Apple computers can play all the popular media file formats. Mac OS plays various media formats. It can play: MP3, MP4, QT, AAC, and many more. It can play most most media formats except those that are made specifically for Windows OS although these can be handled by using plugins for QuickTime such as Flip4Mac and Perian (See links below). If you come across a media file format that is not recognized by your Mac, you can try using a cross-platform media player, such as VLC.

Software options are greater with Windows, 'everyone' makes their particular software to run on Windows systems. 'Some' make them for Apple.

Apple systems require less hardware requirements. 'you can do more with less' on the specs.

Apple systems are expensive via comparison, and in general are the most expensive computers in the categories they compete on.

Dell monitors work fine with Macs. You will just need the appropriate cable to connect them. Either a DVI or SVGA adaptor to connect to the particular model Mac you have. Each laptop (and iMac) is different.

Either the hard disc is damaged or the installation of Mac OS X is damaged. Either way boot from the Mac OS X installation DVD. Insert the disc restart the computer and hold down the C key while it starts up. Once you have the desk top loaded select Disk Utility from the menu and run repair/first aid to try and fix the hard disc. If the hard disc is not too badly damaged you will need to reinstall Mac OS X. If you do not have back ups of the contents of your hard disc you will need to try and salvage what you can. Performing an Archive and Install will save your stuff if there is enough space on the hard disc.

Only through emulation or running in a boot camp environment, I'm afraid.

Software is written to work with a particular operating system. Windows software requires the Windows operating system and Mac software requires Apple's Mac OS X. The two are not interchangeable. A Mac can run the Windows operating system and thus Windows software but Mac OS X can only be used on Apple's own computers.

When you purchased an Apple Airport Modem you would have received a setup disk which should hold the software for both Mac OS and Windows OS.

Using this disk you should be able to configure the Airport to work with Windows XP. If the disk is not with it or the software not available then please visit the Apple.com website.

As the Airport basically has it's own system it requires this software to setup after which any unit can be connected with the correct passkey (if used).
