For column shifters, find the small rectangular cover on the top of the steering column, use a small flat blade screwdriver and gently remove the cover, then using your finger, depress the "shift lock mechanism override tab", holding this tab down, move the gear selector to drive... this will let you select between reverse "R", neutral "N", and drive "D", once you put it in park, you will have to depress the release tab again.

That means an error code has been set in the ECU memory. You need to have the codes read with a OBDII scanner, then look up the reference codes in a manual in the engine controls section. A good scanner will tell you what the codes are.

Mine was a loose O2 connector.

The answer is on page 11 in the owner's manual ( "Light is blinking" ). Engine is misfiring, bring it to a garage as soon as possible.

a lot! its a long process and after doing it once, i will sell the car before i put another one on. there is a lot of stuff that has to be taken off to replace it, and the only way to get to it is from under the car.... like i said, i will not do one again.

How are the cylinders numbered on a 2001 Mazda tribute v6

I'm pretty sure it's a chain. The 2007-on Tribute has a 2.3L MRZ engine which it shares with the mazda3 mazda5 and mazda6. And I know for a fact that the mazda5 has a chain.

In a 2008 Mazda Tribute, the radio battery constant 12v+ wire is orange/light green, the accessory switched 12v+ wire is yellow/black, the ground wire is black, the illumination wire is light blue/red, and the amp trigger wire is light blue. For the front speakers, the left front speaker wire (+) is orange/light green, the left front speaker wire (-) is light blue/white, the right front speaker wire (+) is white/light green, and the right front speaker wire (-) is green/orange. For the rear speakers, the left rear speaker wire (+) is gray/blue, the left rear speaker wire (-) is brown/yellow, the right rear speaker wire (+) is black/violet, and the right rear speaker wire (-) is orange/violet.

Pop your hood, and looking into the engine from the front of the vehicle, you will see, on the driver side, a rather large black "box" with large piping coming out of or going into it, however you look at it. There are two little metal "flip locks" on top of the box that are easy to locate. Simply unlock them by popping them up , then (with a little effort) pull the left section of the air filter box (the side that has the piping going into it) up and away from the right side to give you enough room to insert the new filter. You do not need ANY tools for this job whatsoever!! That piping is movable and with some effort you should create enough space to remove, and then install the new air filter. To obtain the air filter, simply go into any auto parts store and ask the person at the desk to look it up for you. The filter is kind of large and rectangular.
