It is located on the back side of the underdash fuse box (junction block). You remove the lower steering column cover and knee blocker reinforcement. Then remove two plugs from the bottom of the BCM.
Remove the bolts holding the junction block to dash panel mounting bracket. Remove the junction block from the bracket. Remove screws holding the BCM to the junction block. Slide the BCM downward to disengage guide studs on jb from channels on BCM mounting bracket

It might be the alternator noise. If you step on the gas is it getting louder and more high pitch? If it is, then yes you have weak ground, or so called ground loop. I am having a same problem even after I installed amplifier. I guess this car is not really good.
How to remove the intake manifold on a 2001 Mazda Tribute?
Remove appearance cover, remove cruise control cable & accelerator cable brackets, remove intake tube and throttle body (2-bolts) and with the cables connected, lay off to the left. Disconnect EGR valve & all vacuum lines,,, the intake has 8 bolts (8 mm socket), loosen all of them, they stay with the manifold, cover the ports to prevent dropping anything in them, no gaskets needed,,, it's a good idea to clean your manifold, EGR valve (or replace), lines, etc. while it's off (use carburetor cleaner, at least 4 cans), also good time to replace vacuum lines, split them carefully where they connect with a razor blade for easy removal, this prevents breaking the connectors,,, cut to fit the new vacuum lines, match them to the old ones. Also replace the the PVC valve, it's right there under/at the fuel rail,,, have fun, good luck.

Whats the average cost at a garage to replace an alternator on a 2003 Mazda tribute v6?
Just had one replaced. It cost $600.00. Most of that was for labor because it is located on the bottom side of the engine and you have to remove all kinds of parts just to get to it. I think the alternator itself was under $200.00

According to my brother (who is a mechanic), The stock stereo in the protege requires radio removal tools (2 sets) to remove -- you can get them at just about any parts store. Just carefully remove the molding around the radio, insert the tools all the way and then pull them outward to release the clips. The radio should just slide out.
