Why steam turbine speed is kept constant in power plants?
Well, the steam turbbine is most likely connected to an A/C generator which gives off the same frequency as the grid, so by running the turbine on a fixed frequency you don't have to condition the electricity before it can be released onto the grid.
What are the functions of slip ring carbon brush external resistor in an alternalting EMF generator?
good question the use of slipring carbon brush is to give excitement to the generator , as the carbon brosh contact the rotor slip the rotaion and the speed of the generator increases we can say as an external force by anonrafee blueroz_27@yahoo.com
The simplest way I can explain why the temperature won't be the same is to use an example we are all familiar with. I you have ever used a gas grill, a bb
gun with a CO2 cartridge, or any sort of device that has contents under pressure, you may have noticed that after you have allowed what ever is trapped inside to escape, for a significant enough time, the container may feel cool or even cold to the touch. Contents, namely gases, under pressure can have enormous amounts of stored energy because the atoms inside the canister have been forced very close to each other and are looking for a way to create some space between themselves. When the contents are allowed to exit at an uninhibited rate, this stored energy is released and draws heat out of its surroundings, thus inducing the drop in temperature. For an evacuated tank, it's just the opposite. Air is looking for a way in to a vacuum, and when it finds one, the air flows in to fill that void, increasing the mass inside the container and inducing heat from the friction of the air molecules bumping into each other as they try to get in. From a thermodynamics standpoint it can be quite confusing, but if you remember Newton's III law, equal and opposite reactions, you know that something must happen to counteract this filling of the tank. Whether it be a force, an exchange of heat, an increase in temperature or all of the above, a reaction of some type is required by the laws of nature.

How do you calculate 5mm diameter in to electric cable sq mm?
If the wire is soild and circular with a 5 mm diameter, the cross-section area is given by the formula for a circle, which is A = pi/4 x (diameter)2. For 5mm that is pi/4 times 25 or 19.73 square mm.
A gear type pump has two gears in it that pull fluid through between the teeth creating pressure as it is forced out the other side.
Which company led the ball and roller bearings industry?
Already a leader in the industry, Timken became the undisputed heavyweight of U.S. ball bearings with the 2002 acquisition of industry leading Ingersoll-Rand's The Torrington Co.
What is the function of a machine vice?
To hold the work piece or job when the opreation is carry on job.
Why mechanical engineer coverall is navy blue?
Certain blue fabric dyes (such as indigo) are very light-fast (they do not fade when subjected to strong light. This is a desirable quality and has become standard for work clothes.
Maybe that's because clothes in this color are subject to dirt.
What is torsional rigidity of a shaft?
It is defined as ratio of the product of modulus of rigidity and polar moment of inertia to the length of the shaft.
Torsional Rigidity is caluclated as: Torsional Rigidity= C J/l
Yes. It is a metal. In periodic table all the elements in s block (except hydrogen), d block and f block elements are classified as metals.
And if you precisely ask if it is a base metal, you have to mention the alloy name. i
What material and design characteristics contribute to their strength and stability?
It's coming right up after the break!!
The lathe is one of the engineers' most valuable tools. Coupled with a milling machine or milling head (Tri-axis lathe) there is nothing that cannot be produced from virtually any kind of material.A lathe can be used to:# Turn an ornate wooden spindle# Skim a cylinder head or other gasket-face# Put a screw-thread on a piece of metal bar# Drill a hole of almost any size in almost any material# Machine an intricate valve, collet or gudgeon# Put a screw-thread INSIDE a hole (Tap the hole)# Produce a complex component such as a cog-wheel, crown wheel or pinion# Re-bore the cylinder of an engine# Create irregular / offset flanged components of infinite complexity.# Turn-down a piece of tooling to fit a specific tool. The list is almost endless. There isn't much you cant do with a lathe, especially if it has a milling head! (Engineers wet dream!)
Why might compound gear train be better than two gears alone?
Because the speed is decreased less from an equal gear ratio.

What is brain of the computer?
== == Well, the computer does not have a brain like humans but it can do certain operations like math and logic in the CPU (Central Processing Unit) and it stores data in the hard disk.
If you were asking about the physical location of it:
* The CPU is under the heat sink which is the big metal piece covered by the fan. * The hard disk looks like a meta and plastic box in the front end of the case connected by a flat wire (IDE) and 4 wire with different colors.
I would Ike to be more explanatory on this.
when force is applied on object(e.g. a piece )certain area or ideally speaking whole area (c/s) tries to elongate or compress.but due to elastic property of material, piece on which force is acted, tries to regain its past shape or stage so one resistant force is developed. This force is called stress.and stress intensity is given by:
mechanical stress is force divided by area
σ=F/A
if unit of F is Newton and area in Sq. m
then mech. stress is in Pascal
Can anyone give me some mini project ideas relating to mechanical engineering?
Research and make models of some of the building machinery from ancient civilizations.
You can also try to make any working model of a simple mechanism, I'm making oldham's coupling
What material is used to make a spanner?
Usually steel, alloyed with vanadium(to increase springiness) and chromium(to increase hardness and resistance to wear)
