Menstruation is the routine discharge, or release, of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus. This process occurs about once a month from the time a female reaches puberty until menopause. During pregnancy, the monthly menstrual cycle is absent while the womb nourishes the growing fetus.

Can you use tampons after IUD removal?

Yes, you can use tampons with your IUD.

It's recommended that you avoid using internal menstrual products like tampons or menstrual cups for the first cycle after IUD insertion - this is because your IUD is more likely to be expelled in that first month, so best to avoid internal options that may increase likelihood of this happening. Although long-term tampon use is fine, research has confirmed that there is no increased risk of expulsion while using tampons or menstrual cups after that first month.

Do you count your cycle from the first day you bleed?

Every woman's cycle starts on the first day of their menstruation. First day of menstruation is usually cycle day one. So start counting on that day and they end it the day before your next period will arrive. So if you have a 29 day cycle that would mean that you have 29 days before your next cycle will come.

How is menstruation and fertilization related?

I can give you a rough idea of the correlation. The lining of a woman's uterus starts building up after menstruation so that if a fertilized egg implants itself on the womb and starts to grow, it will have nourishment. I believe I read that ovulation usually occurs about 7 days after the end of the menstrual cycle. So yes, ovulation is the forming of the egg, which is released and goes down the fallopian tube to the womb at the proper time. "Tubal pregnancy" is when the fertilized egg implants itself in the fallopian tube and starts to grow there instead of the usual implantation on the uterine wall. Exactly where the egg and sperm combine to form a fertilized egg, I'm not exactly sure. I tried to tell you what I knew about the miraculous process.

Is your menstrual cycle messed up if you stopped using the birth control pill and have missed a period but the pregnancy test came out negative?

Yes, there is a possibility you could still be pregnant. Some pregnancy tests will not read your hCG levels if they are too low. The best way to find out if you are pregnant after receiving a negative test result is to go to your doctor. Have your doctor perform a blood test to give you a definite answer as to if you are pregnant or not.

How do you count the menstrual cycle?

Day one is the day you get your period. The day before this becomes the last day of your previous cycle. For example, if your period starts on October 6th, that is day one. If your next period stars on the 3 November, the 2nd of November was the 28th day of your last cycle, and the 3rd is the first day of the next one. You count upwards from there until the next period begins - when you start all over again.

Do all girls have periods?

Normally, yes. 'It' happens (should happen) every month. Except if a girl is pregnant.

When a girl gets her period for the first times it can be irregular, but that's normal. Her body still has to get used to the change and produce the right amount of hormones.

The period can be a little irregular, actually it's a cycle of 28 days, so it's never exactly a month until the next one. It normally takes 5 days for a period to be 'over'. Sometimes it can skip a month, but only if the girl is really stressed.

If it suddenly stops, for no apparent reason (no pregnancy or menopause [when a full grown woman, mostly around 45-50, stops getting her period]) there is definitely something wrong. She should go to the doctor then.

I hope I could help.

Why are you getting your period every two weeks in the last two months?

It is very difficult to give a diagnosis over the internet. I suggest that you go and see a doctor or gynaecologist about this, because they can give a better idea of what could be causing this. It might be that you are releasing more than one egg a month. In other words, it could be that your menstrual cycle is exceptionally short.

Why would you be having two periods in one month at age 42?

I have been researching the answer for myself. Here are a few reasons I have found... 1.Could be normal (I recommend making an appointment with gynecologist anyway) 2.Fluctuating hormone levels 3.Thyroid dysfunction 4.Abnormal thickening of the uterus (could need biopsy) 5.Could have scar tissue (possible Endometriosis) 6.Could have tubal or ectopic pregnancy 7.Could have possible infection 8.Worst case scenario...could have cancer I want to say that I am NOT an expert. Just someone that is experiencing the same symptoms of two periods a month. After researching this issue, this is what I have found. I have scheduled an appointment with my gynecologist to be safe. Is it normal to be late on your period?

This is hard to answer without more information. Firstly, your period should start a few days after you start the placebos--it won't be the second you stop taking the active pills. It may be that it just hasn't happened yet.

If that's not the case, it could be caused by a number of things. The estrogen level in the pill may be too low for you, or it may simply be that your body hasn't yet adjusted to the new hormone levels, if you just started taking BC. There is the possibility of pregnancy, so you should take a pregnancy test before starting the next active pills to be certain, but the probability for this is quite low if you've been taking them correctly. It could also be related to stress, illness, activity level, or diet, and have nothing directly to do with the pill at all.

To be safe and to ease your mind, take a pregnancy test, and see your doctor if you're worried. Skipping one month is not usually a big deal, but if you skip more than once, be sure to see your doctor and talk to him or her about changing your prescription to something that works better for you.

What if you don't start your Period on time if your on birth control?

Starting birth control can sometimes in itself cause irregularities in your period. If you just started within the past two or three months, check for pregnancy if you have been sexually active. If not, the the missed or delayed period is just a side effect of oral contraceptives.... HOWEVER.........
.....If you are more than a week late, you need to take a home pregnancy test. It IS still very possible to get pregnant while taking the pill correctly!!

Why would you spot between periods?

It is related to hormonal fluctuations- progesterone and estrogen changes. It could be many different causes however. It could possibly be early stages of menopause, but it could also be related to pregnancy, new birth control, medications, increase in stress/sleep disturbance, and more. It would be best to ask your doctor if you are experiencing sudden spotting between periods to look into the cause. Also, just to explore all possibilities if you are sexually active, take a pregnancy test to rule that out first (or the doctor's office will likely check for you when you go in).

Can you go to a GYN while on your menstrual cycle?

Call and talk with the nurse at your doc's office - but probably not. Most annual OB/GYN appointments involve doing a pap smear, which they don't do if you've started your period.

However, if you were going in to discuss birth control, you might want to keep that appointment. MANY kinds of birth control recommend you start taking the pill (getting the shot, inserting the ring - whatever) as close as possible to the first day of your period. That's because for those lucky few with a perfect 28 day cycle - day 1 of your period is the longest number of days from ovulation as anytime during your cycle. Starting birth control then makes it highly effective in preventing pregnancy.
