Menstruation

Menstruation is the routine discharge, or release, of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus. This process occurs about once a month from the time a female reaches puberty until menopause. During pregnancy, the monthly menstrual cycle is absent while the womb nourishes the growing fetus.

Do you get more drunk whilst having your period?

No, drink (alcoholic) doesn't effect you more when you're on your period. Obviously as always it's a good idea to watch not to drink too much, during menstruation there's a risk of accidental leaks or accidentally leaving tampons in for too long if you get too drunk.

Will canning during your period cause spoilage?

Pickling, while a scientific process, or at least one that can be explained scientifically, is an activity that is largely steeped in tradition. As with many traditions, there are things that are done, and things that are not done. The theory that canning pickles at the same time as menstruation causes spoilage is a wives tale. One told by old wives. Unfortunately, I doubt there has ever been a scientific examination of it. And, there may be some truth to it.

If this helps, my grandmother had seven daughters. She canned and set pickles every year from her early teens until the year before she died at 84. She was one of the best I've ever known (I truly miss her lime pickles--no one can duplicate them). In all the time she canned and pickled, she would not allow any female who was menstruating (daughters, nieces, granddaughters, neighbors, anyone) into her kitchen while she was pickling. She was adamant about this. The one time my mother allowed one of my sisters to help set pickles during my sister's period, half the batch of 50 jars clouded heavily and had to be disposed of.

What happens if you drink while on your period?

I'm not sure why anyone would want to eat menstrual flow.

You would become seriously ill as menstrual flow contains a lot of bacteria, also blood is toxic to humans - we can't process the iron in the blood, it can make you very ill or even be fatal if you can consume enough without throwing-up. Obviously if a person has an STD then you'd be at risk too, particularly blood borne STD's such as HIV. There have been cases of disgruntled workers using their used tampons in employers food to try to pass on HIV via their menstrual blood.

Us women crave on chocolate when they are on a certain time of their period because they are probably pregnant. Why did I say that ? Because women and some times little girls or teenagers like to crave on something in the sweetish family (like oreos , glazed donuts ,chocolate cake ,etc;) so when they have their baby the baby wont be pail or skinny it would weigh maybe 5 pounds or more. Even if a tampon says it is flush able it is bad for the environment. Tampons take years to decompose and cause lots of plumbing problems. Plumbers of America want you to flush them as it is good for their business. just wrap them up in paper and throw them in the trash.

Don't even get me started about condoms. These will never decompose and are bad for the environment. The best way it to empty the contents into the sink and throw away the rubber in the trash can. kylekeith knows all

How can you tell if you have endometriosis?

Unfortunately some endometrioses patients may be completely asymptomatic while others experience emotional and physical pain that is almost unbearable. For those who are not asymptomatic, the patients may experience anywhere from one to all of the following symptoms: pain before and during periods, pain with intercourse, general, chronic pelvic pain through the month, low back pain, heave and/or irregular periods, painful bowel movements, painful urination during menstruation, fatigue, infertility, diarrhea or constipation, nausea and vomiting, headaches, pain during intercourse, low-grade fevers, depression, hypoglycemia, anxiety and increased susceptibility to infections or allergies . According to Harvard Women's Health Watch, the most common symptom that most women experience with endometriosis is severe menstrual cramps, gastrointestinal problems, and pain during intercourse. Women who experience postpartum endometriosis, generally have different symptoms than those who develop endometriosis naturally. Their symptoms are generally fever, increased pulse, chills, anorexia, nausea, fatigue and lethargy, pelvic pain, uterine tenderness and/or foul smelling. Some women may also become anemic. Within 36 to 48 hours, blood cultures should reveal any evidence of endometriosis.

Can you flush tampons?

No, you cannot flush tampons - always wrap-up and throw in the bin.

Some tampon companies claim their products are flushable, but although they may clear the U-bend they shouldn't be flushed because rather than breaking down in water they expand so can cause blockages in the pipes and in turn serious damage to pipes. Tampons can also bypass sewage treatment works so end-up in waterways where they are an environmental risk.

They have sanitary waste bins in public bathrooms for a reason, please use them.

How do you treat endometriosis?

Endometriosis is the abnormal growth of cells (endometrial cells) similar to those that form the inside of the uterus, but in a location outside of the uterus. Endometrial cells are cells that are shed each month during menstruation. The cells of endometriosis attach themselves to tissue outside the uterus and are called endometriosis implants. These implants are most commonly found on the ovaries, the Fallopian tubes, outer surfaces of the uterus or intestines, and on the surface lining of the pelvic cavity. They can also be found in the vagina, cervix, and bladder, although less commonly than other locations in the pelvis. Rarely, endometriosis implants can occur outside the pelvis, on the liver, in old surgery scars, and even in or around the lung or brain. Endometrial implants, while they can cause problems, are benign (not cancerous).
