it should be in the air intake box, i beleave on the right side of the engine compartment, or it may be before the box (the bit with the air filter) normally after or on the inside of the the filter.
Answerit is in the airbox. its the only thing on the airbox with wires connected to it. its removed by simply pulling on it. if your air box has a little hole in it, the sensor has been removed. look around the area for a couple of wires with what looks like a black plastic bullet plugged into the end of it. just stick the bullet into the hole and youll be fine. How do you install the headlights on a 2002 mercury mountaineer?

Why does your Montana heater blow cold when idling but hot when accelerating?
why does the fans not work when car is running (on the 1999 Montana car)
most likely a blown fuse or worst case the fan is no good. to the original question on why the air is cold at idle than warm during acceleration most likely low coolant is causing this
************************************************************
Low Coolant Probably caused by a blown head gasket.
I had the same problem with my Montana until I had the head gasket replaced. It started the way you described for about a year and kept getting worse and worse over time. The worst part of it was that it began becoming noticeable at about 40,000 miles and I didn't have the head gasket replaced until about 67,000.
Good luck and have it checked for a head gasket leak.

It sounds like you need a new serpentine fan belt.
Look at the diagram on the fuse box cover. It will answer both questions.
How do you check the transmission fluid in a 2006 mercury moutaineer?
The fluid level is checked by loosening an Allen head bolt in the transmission pan. If the fluid starts to leak out, it is full. If not, it needs transmission fluid.
Only way is to run your hands along to find bolts, and work in small area. be sure to have plenty of lock free, as it's best to let it soak for about 15 minutes, and will help when prying off the bell housing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Answer; Actually there is another way. I personally remove my share of motor and transmissions in my time... I used a 3-foot extension from the bottom of the vehicle with the correct socket and ratchet you should be able to remove all the bell-housing bolts. With the proper floor clearance of course...
