How does military terminology explain the difference between a surprise attack and a calculated risk?

In military operations, a surprise attack by an enemy is not synonymous with a "calculated risk".In fact they are total opposites. A calculated risk is when a commander is unable to effectively meet the enemy's offensive capabilities. Surprise attacks are thus avoided and all means are taken in defense and delay to slow down an enemy's advance. In such a situation the commander on defensive takes a calculated risk by defending as he retreats.

I have a Remington Sportsman 48 20 gague semi 3 shot with a 2712 barrel I wish to increase the number of shots?

Here is a web site that gives detailed instructions on how to increase the capacity. I believe that the magazine tube has three indentions that restrict the number of shells. You can file the indentions smooth on the inside of the tube to allow additional space for more shells. DON'T try and bend the indentions out, because you could bend the exterior of the tube and not allow the proper function of the gun when ejecting shells. http://www.wisnersinc.com/additionalinfo/remington_1148.htm

What is the value of a 7.65MM German Luger?

The value of historical artifacts depends on market demand and the condition of the specific item being considered for sale or purchase--as well as its provenance. One good place to start putting a value on such an item is to research items in similar condition that have sold on eBay or at other auctions.

What is the value of a whitehead and hoag company item?

Whitehead and Hoag (1892-1921) made many different types of advertising, political, and fraternal items. The company developed and patented celluloid so they could produce advertising more durable than just paper. The most common item they made was the celluloid pin back button. These were mostly advertising, political or commemorative and have a wide range in price depending on their rarity and subject matter. The Whitehead and Hoag Company also made fraternal items including uniforms and accessories. The company was one of the largest of it's kind in the world. And any item marked with their logo should be researched as it is a sign of a quality piece with a potential for value.

How accurate is the rws Diana 34 with just sights?

Diana Makes Extremely fine rifles. Whether you use a scope or just the rifles open sights, they are very accurate. The scope just gives you a larger image. However remember scopes are set for a particular distance anything beyond the set distance will strike too high and anything too close will be to low. Think of it this way. If you take two lasers and mount them 2 inches one above the other and aim them at a point on a window you will see that top laser and bottom laser meet at the same point on the window but the top laser will continue downward beyond the window. Any point in front of the window the top laser will be higher than the bottom laser. Now if these two lasers were the barrel and scope sight on a rifle you can understand the correlation of the visual aim and bullet travel. Now open sights (Because they rest right on top of the barrel) have less of a parallax or space between them and are a little more true to the aiming point. It all comes down to how steady are you when aiming. How well do you know the drop-off or firing point of your trigger? Some triggers have a little creep before the actually fire some don't (Known as Hair Triggers.) Do you know how to breathe when shooting? Remember new Air Rifles usually take 100 to 200 shots before they settle down and shoot consistent. The type of pellets makes a BIG difference. I don't recommend the GAMO Raptor, they are very fast but are too light and have a tendency to wander off target in a slight breeze.

What is 30 bore cal?

I suppose you mean: What is a 30 caliber bore? The bore of a Rifle is referred to as the caliber, which equates to the diameter of the bullet it fired. A gun that shoots a 9mm bullet would be a 9mm caliber or the bore size. Most guns originally made in US were measured in INCHES. Thus a 22 caliber rifle was a gun that shot a 0.22 inch diameter bore. Since the US Army began to change over to the metric system, it began making guns to the 9mm and 7.62mm sizes. Some bores can have alternate names. A new pistol bullet is the 0.40 INCH caliber designed by Smith&Wesson is also referred to as the 10mm caliber. The bore size of Shotguns are measured using Gauge. For example, shotguns are referred to as 12-Gauge or 20-Gauge. Gauge is an unusual measurement. The gauge equates to the number of lead balls that are made to the diameter of shotgun's bore and totals a weight of 1 pound. Thus, a 12-gauge shotgun has a diameter that of a ball that would weight 1/12 of a pound. That means the Larger the bore of the shotgun, the smaller the gage number. A 12-gauge shotgun is bigger bore than a 20-gauge shotgun.

What is the worlds fastest single barrel machine gun?

Either the FA-MAS or the UZI but the uzi has terrible Accuracy so the FA-MAS is the way to go

Ummm... Sorry but you're wrong

Although I don't know the answer, I do know that firstly the UZI only has a rate of fire of about 600 rpm and the FA-MAS at about 1100 rpm. The MG-42 maxes out at about 1500 rpm.

However it is worth saying that smaller variants of the UZI have a higher rate of fire to the point that the micro-UZI fires at 1200 rpm

What is the difference between 9mm and 9mm lugar?

There are several different types of 9mm cartridge. When Snoop Dogg or some other rapper talks about his "nine", they're referring to a weapon firing the 9x19 cartridge, also known as the 9mm Parabellum or 9mm Luger.

Other 9mm cartridges in common use include the 9x17, which is also known as the .380 ACP, and the 9x17 Makarov cartridge, which is popular with military surplus collectors.

There have been several other 9mm cartridges made, both past and present, to include the 9x23, 9x25, 9x39, etc.

Why is the sail of the Borei class submarine shaped oddly?

It's not - the Russians have always had lower profile sails on their boats compared to Western boats. The Borei is a successor to the Delta-class submarine; the sail seems a bit longer, but the height is about the same as a Delta-IV.

Pin that is a 12 point star bout like an iron cross It has 2 swords going diagonal and a kings crown in the center Possibly made of gold because the metal is soft What is it?

Unknown--- Most medals in the shape of a Cross have 8 points; 2 per leg. If it was 12-poined then it would have 3 points per leg.

"King's Crown" If you mean British, then many British cap badges have a 'star burst' that has ray radiating out from center and these usually have 8 points. Some have 4 major points at top, bottom, left & right with 4 minor points spaced between these. Most of these have a Kings Crown on the top ray.

Polish unit badges commonly used Maltese crosses as a pattern. Again 4 arms with 2 points per arm.

The Germans had a Spanish Cross that had crossed swords. But it didn't have a crown on it.

Need more description. Is it a badge? If it is soft, then I suspect it is not an official military medal or badge. Most military badges are constructed to be durable. British and US soldiers had sweet-heart pins made for their loved ones that had a military theme but was obviously made with the look and wear of jewelry.
