Is there any real cure for someone with MS and Crohns other than Pentasia and Pentasa?
A View From An Actual Crohn's Patient
NO
Crohn's is not curable, doctors do not hold out nor hide the magic cure that some tout as available but "not yet approved" but will sell you the secret for a price. At present doctors can only help alleviate the symptoms, encourage remission and continue to research a cure. Pentasa is an Aminosalicylate (5-asa) including Sulfasalazine, dipentum and colazal. They are one way to help but there are other drug treatments.
Immune Modifiers such as Azathioprine (Imuran) and 6-MP (Purinethol) that help heal fistula's and maintain disease remission.
Corticosteroids like Prednisone and methylprednisolone non specifically suppress the immune system. Temporary but effective.
Since 1998 new biologic therapies have been approved. Infliximab (Remicade) is used for severe active Crohn's and is given by infusion. Very promising and only one of the newly researched biologic treatments.
As for the MS, many of the treatment for Crohn's are similar to the treatments for MS exacerbations (flare-ups) but with a few extra's.
Avonex (interferon beta-1a) Betaseron (interferon beta-1b)
glatiramer acetate (Copaxone) and Novantrone are all good reliable drugs used to treat inflamation in the central nervous system slowing or blocking nerve impulses.
These are many of the other drugs used. If Pentasa has not or is no longer offering relief, discuss your options with your doctors.

What does it mean when you have burning sensation?
I recently had a burning feeling on the back of my right hand too, but directly after I noticed a golf ball sized purple lump appear which scared me. It appeared I had burst a vein in my hand. ( there are many diff. kinds and sizes of blood vessels that can break) It happened again 2 weeks later but this time on my arm. This time I went to the ER. My blood pressure was 170 over 120....way to high. I am seeing a couple specialists about it this week.
For me, the burning sensation was my veins bursting I guess. I would advise you to be aware of anything like I mentioned, and get it checked out. Good luck!

Can people be infected with multiple sclerosis?
No, it is a genetic disorder. Actually, it's an autoimmune disorder, although people may have a genetic predisposition for getting MS. You can't catch it, but sometimes an infection (or any other type of stress to the body) can be the trigger which allows it to start.
Is there a risk of spinal stenosis surgery with Multiple Sclerosis?
These are two different problems. Multiple Sclerosis is where areas in the brain and spinal cord lose their protein insulation, and Spinal stenosis is where there is an encroachment on the cord, usually occurring in the lower back area. This is to say that (most likely) arthritis occurs at the end plate (extreme bottom, or top of vertebrae, and the adding on of new bone to those areas causes the spinal canal to become smaller, eventually resulting in pressure on the spinal cord.

Do you have an abnormal EEG with multiple sclerosis?
Your EEG (electroencephalogram, or measure of brain activity) is not normally affected by MS. But your EEG can tell you about MS if used in conjunction with another diagnostic tool called a VEP (visual evoked potential) test. In a VEP test, you are seated in front of a computer screen while connected to an EEG. The screen displays different patterns (flashing dots or checkerboards), and the EEG measures the brain's response to the stimulus. More importantly, the brain records the delay between the stimulus and the brain's response. When someone with MS has Optic Neuritis, the signals from the eyes to the brain are delayed, and the VEP test will show this.
Can multiple sclerosis be predicted?
While we can't predict with single-person accuracy who will and will not develop MS, we can tell you the odds. This is done using epidemiology, or the study of disease patterns.
For example, we know that you have a higher risk of developing MS if you have a first-degree relative (parent, sibling, etc) who also has MS. In general, people have about a 1 in 750 risk of developing MS. If you have a first-degree relative with MS, that risk increases to anywhere between 1 in 100 and 1 in 40.
It's not all genetics, though. You can see this through the "identical twin" example. If you have an identical twin (someone with your exact gene structure, etc) who has MS, your risk of developing MS is 1 in 4. If it were all genetic, your risk would be 100%, but the fact that your risk is only 25% means that there are other factors involved, such as ethnicity, geography, and some infectious trigger which all lead to the development of MS.

How much more dangerous would Swine Flu be for someone that has multiple sclerosis?
The answer is "it depends." MS, by itself, does not affect the immune system, discounting the autoimmune response which triggers it. Other immune function still occurs normally. This means that if a person with MS catches the H1N1 virus (the swine flu), he is affected the same as someone without MS.
The medications, however, that the person with MS is taking can potentially cause an increased risk of infection. If the person is taking immunosuppressant medications, such as Novantrone, the person is more susceptible to any viral or bacterial infection because of the induced decrease in immune system activity. Users of the immunomodulating drugs such as Rebif, Betaseron, Copaxone, Avonex, or Tysabri are not any more susceptible to viral or bacterial infections than someone without MS.
Differences between multiple sclerosis and HIV associated demintia?
HIV destroys the body's immune system while multiple sclerosis causes the immune system to become less efficient
