What can you do for massive muscle spasms and charlie horse's in my left leg and hip?

Not much that I know of, actually. A friend of mine had a constant charlie horse for three days, sometimes dying down to a dull throb and other times so painful she couldn't walk. Eventually they go away, but until then stretch slowly and steadily, and try to avoid whatever position you were in when it cramped. (I know when I bring my knee up at an angle and hold it there, like to tie my shoe, it starts cramping--I don't know if it was something like that or something else or not that caused yours.)

How do you heal a hurt muscle behind the knee I have tryouts for soccer in 2 days and i was running and after 3 blocks i had to walk home it hurt so bad What do i do?

There's not a ton you can do. Just follow the rice method: rest ice compression elevation. And stay off it also, and maybe wrap it to decrease the amount of movement. And if it hasn't got better in a few days or so, see a doctor and if it still hurts don't go to try outs and ask if you can do it one on one another day..good luck! :)

Why do i have lower back pain with pain in the right leg and numbness in several of my toes on right foot?

That, my friend, is a herniated disk (and a bad one if your toes are numb) at one of the lower lumbar vertebrae, likely at L4/L5 or L5/S1.

I'm sure you're already staying off your feet, if you can even walk. You need to get to a doctor ASAP. You cannot let numbness go untreated or you risk permanent nerve damage.

Key things to do:

1. Stay off your feet and don't lift anything over 2 lbs.

2. When lying down, lie on your side in a fetal position, with a pillow or cushion between your knees to ease pressure on the spine and hips. DO NOT lie on your back (you probably can't anyway) as it puts pressure on the lower spine. If you must, put cushions or pillows underneath your legs (between the butt and knees) to raise your legs and reduce lower spine pressure.

3. If you have any anti-inflammatories available, take them. If not, 2 of my favorite fast-acting OTC drugs are Bayer Back and Body Aspirin, and Tylenol Rapid Release gel tabs. Aleve is good also, but isn't in prescription doses. 500mg is the standard prescription dose every 4-6 hours.

4. You need to get to a doctor (preferably a Neurosurgeon) ASAP. Neurosurgeons don't always cut - they also perform routine procedures, but the point is they're the most qualified to diagnose your problem. If you can't get an appointment immediately, tell them and make them understand the seriousness of your problem.

5. If you can't get an appointment within 48 hours, your best option is to head to a hospital emergency room. Your immediate problem is getting pictures taken to determine how bad the damage is. After that they can determine what's needed to fix it.

6. Start tracking your pain in a Pain Diary. Note the day, date, time of day, kind of pain (sharp, burning, throbbing, aching, etc.), and use a simple diagram of the body to note the location. Use a 1-10 scale to describe the severity of the pain, 1 being not bad, 10 being "please put me out now". Bring it with you to whoever you see for treatment. Pain diaries are used normally by those of us in Pain Management programs, but they're useful for everyone in showing your doctor actual evidence of your pain. Unfortunately, until pictures are taken, few doctors will take your word for it on how bad it is.

What can cause severe upper arm pain (periodic aching between elbow and shoulder, sometimes pain going down arm and into shoulder)?

Why am getting sharp pains in groin area when stand up and in pubic bone area so severe can hardly walk?

Well, I'll do everything humanly possible to answer this. Unfortunately, we interneters aren't gods. You know, medicine is not an exact science, but we are learning all the time. Why, just fifty years ago, they thought a pain like yours was caused by demonic possession or witchcraft. But nowadays we know that you're suffering from an imbalance of bodily humors, perhaps caused by a toad or a small dwarf living in your groin.

But seriously, go see a doc. I have had pain like that too, but i had two weeks of my daughter sitting low before birth and hurting my pelvic area.

Will a hot-water bottle help sore muscles?

It's not so much a hot water bottle that helps a sore muscle, it's actually just the heat. A hot water bottle will probably work only a little, but for best results a heated pad or hot cloth might work better.

It also depends what kind of muscle ache you are experiencing because you can use either ice or heat to treat the muscle ache. You use heat to relax stiff muscles during rest after workouts and ice to reduce inflammatory responses directly after a workout.

I totally agree it is just the heat element and not so much the specific item. If it is in a spot like your back heating pads are great. Hot water bottles are more for those hard to reach places! Ice works great when it is swollen or bruised, not as much for soreness. Ice is just to freeze the ache, and kinda numb it.

These are steps you will want to use.

How many aspirin pill do you take to feel numb?

There is no straightforward answer to this question. It depends on the condition you intend to take aspirin for, on the degree of the pain, your pain threshold, your physical size, your ability to metabolize aspirin (the condition of your liver, as your liver is breaking down aspirin), just to mention a few.

However, aspirin is not a medication that you can take too much of. It is not only for treating pain, inflammation, and help in feverish conditions, but, it is also a very powerful blood thinner. That means it prevents blood from clotting. While that is helpful in some medical conditions, it could be life threatening if you have a bleeding problem, and even if you don't, aspirin's side effects could be associated with stomach ulcer, bleeding of stomach, brain, even kidney failure.

Another problem of overdoses is that aspirin is an acid (salicylic acid), and it is capable to change your blood's pH level (making your blood more acidic than it should be). The condition is called metabolic acidosis, and it can be very serious.

Therefore, it is wise to ask for a medical advise and not to overstep the appropriate dosage.

What does it mean when you get a stabbing pain down there during your period i always get really bad cramps sore legs and back and my periods are always heavy i get so tired during the first day?

It's pretty normal, technically every woman is different and get different amounts of pain. Call it luck then. I've been having terrible period pains since 10, including water retention, back pain, sore legs, swollen ankles, nausea and bloatedness.

Call it bad luck, but there's always a choice to get through it. Try painkillers like Panadol Menstrual, or those strange natural remedies you can get off the net (make sure they are credible!) sometimes caffeine helps, SOMETIMES. The warm pack thing does help a little and you can use the heat from your laptop and watch videos or surf websites to take your mind off it.

If it gets so bad you cannot function, good to see a doctor for a check, it could be something more serious.

What is the use of rubifacient?

Rubifacients are substances which irritate the skin, usually causing a stinging feeling, hotness, pain, and redness. The redness is due to increasing blood supply, which also explains the warm feeling. Increased blood supply carries more nutrients and, also, necessary chemicals to deal with the irritation. As rubifacients, unless the contact is accidental, are usually applied to painful areas, they are also called "counter irritants".

Besides, assuming that they are offering some benefit by increasing the body's immune responses to the affected area, and thus, to the original inflammation, they might also effect the nerve endings and pain receptors. After an initial increase of pain, the original pain level is often decreases.

Two examples of rubifacients:

Capsaicin, an active chemical of hot peppers (like chilli), is actually used in several kinds of pain relieving creams, lotions, and even stick on plasters, designed for muscle pains, arthritic pains.

Also, an old arthritis remedy used fresh, stinging nettle to thrash the painful areas. Since, there are more less painful remedies today, that treatment probably lost a lot of its popularity.
