What is the story of the painting of peace?

To the best of my recolection the story went somthing like this:

In the medieval times there was a king that wanted a painting in his room portrait representation of peace. He wanted to glance at it in bad times to become peacefully inside his soul so he declared a contest by decree to all paint artists in his kingdom to make a painting that resembled peace and the winner would have a good reward. All artists turned their work for the king to examine. The king saw a painting of a lake and children calmly wetting their feet in the lake. The next was that of a sea with no waves and a fisherman calmly sleeping in his boat. The next painting enraged the king. It was that of a storm. The king had thought someone was making fun at his authority and he was made to be brought forward before the king. It was an old man and the king asked him if he was making fun of him. He wanted paintings of peace and you bring a painting of a storm. The old man looked at the king in the eye and told him to look carefully in the painting. The king did so and he understood for there was a nest in the rocks of a cliff where the storm was passing through with a bird hugging the newly born. Indeed that was peace and the king declared this painting the winner by decree.

How did peace come to World War 1?

the way that peace came to WW1 was tha 4 people came to Versailles to discuss the plans for peace. they discussed the 14 points. the first 5 points included an end to sectret treaties, freedom of the seas, free trade, and reduced national armies and navies. the fifth goal was the adjustment of colonial claimswith fairness toward colonial peoples.the sixth through thirteenth points were spacific suggestions for changing borders and creating new nations. the guiding idea behind these points was self determination. this meant allowing people to decide for themselvs under what government they wish to live. finally, the 14th point proposed a "general associationof nations" that would protect "great and small states alike." this reflected Wilson's hope for an organization that could peacefully nagotiate solutions to world conflicts.

Why does Capulet think it will be easy for Montague and him to keep the peace?

His reasoning is for men as old as we. When you get older it is harder to feel the passion of hatred and even love as strongly as the young. This is why we recruit young men for the military. They are more easily trained and they are more aggressive as well as embodying the feeling that they are invincible. Tybalt is perfect to represent this. Romeo comes to the party just to pick up chicks, but Tybalt becomes enraged and assumes that he is there to make fun of them, to fleer and scorn. He tries to get his uncle excited, but cannot. After all, the prince has admonished the fathers not to cause any more trouble on pain of death, but that doesn't bother Tybalt.

How much is a 1889 Morgan silver dollar?

Assuming the coin is circulated and has no mintmark, the 1889 Morgan dollar is a common date of the series. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. Circulated coins are valued at $32.00-$44.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelery or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.

What does the peace sign mean?

As much as conspiracy theorists and uninformed paranoids will surely disagree, the peace symbol has absolutely no sinister or anti-Christian meaning. Quite the contrary. It was actually designed in 1958 by artist Gerald Holtom for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament march from Trafalgar Square to the nuclear weapons facility at Aldermaston. Holtom has shared his regret that it symbolizes the despair he felt at the time, but that it literally reads "N" and "D" in semaphor to represent nuclear disarmament. "N" is transmitted by the semaphorist as both flags down as an inverted "V" and "D" as one flag straight up with the other straight down. The two superimposed surrounded by the circle represents the unity of the movement.

The other common peace sign, palm outward, index and second finger raised in a "V" sign was originally adopted by the Allies during WW2 to represent victory. It was later adopted by Vietnam peace activists ("V" for peace in Vietnam). Again no sinister or secondary (delusional) meaning.
