What does it mean by a fighter takes a dive?

When a fighter "takes a dive" it means he intentionally loses the fight, the "dive" being a fall.

The term "dive" when referring to aircraft...and not specifically to "dive bombers", means to crash. Example(s): "...he took a dive...", "he dove in", "...he dived in...", "...he went in...", etc.

"Takes a dive" does seem to have a different meaning then simply "dive". When a planes dives, it just noses over and goes straight down or at least at a steep angle.

Did Japanese declare war after Pearl Harbor started?

no, the united states declared war on japan after pearl harbour

The official declaration of war by the Empire of Japan on both the United States and the British Empire was released on December 8, 1941 after the pre-emptive attack on Pearl Harbor was completed. The attack took place before any formal declaration of war was made by Japan, but this was not Admiral Yamamoto's intention. He originally stipulated that the attack should not commence until thirty minutes after Japan had informed the United States that peace negotiations were at an end. The Japanese tried to uphold the conventions of war while still achieving surprise, but the attack began before the notice could be delivered.

Tokyo transmitted a 5,000-word notification (commonly called the "14-Part Message") in two blocks to the Japanese Embassy in Washington, but transcribing the message took too long for the Japanese Ambassador to deliver it in time. The final part of the "14-Part Message" is sometimes described as a declaration of war, but in fact it "neither declared war nor severed diplomatic relations". All it really did was notify the US that peace negotiations were at an end. The actual declaration of war was printed on the front page of all newspapers in Japan in the evening edition on December 8 (Japan time, December 7 in the United States) but not delivered to the U.S. government until the day after the attack.

In 1999 a professor of law and international relations at the International Christian University in Tokyo, discovered documents that pointed to a vigorous debate inside the government over how, indeed whether, to notify Washington of Japan's intention to break off negotiations and start a war, including a December 7 entry in the war diary saying, "our deceptive diplomacy is steadily proceeding toward success." Professor Iguchi said, "The diary shows that the army and navy did not want to give any proper declaration of war, or indeed prior notice even of the termination of negotiations."

How did the Japanese miscalculate the U.S. response to the attack on Pearl Harbor?

The Imperial Japanese Army was on par with most of the world's armies in 1941, but not the most powerful of them. The Imperial Japanese Navy, on the other hand, was the most powerful navy in 1941; so it is an ironic twist of fate, that the weaker Imperial Army influenced Japan more than their navy did. For the most part, the Imperial Navy KNEW what they were doing, and pretty well KNEW what the outcome would be, the army was more optomistic and overly aggressive, and ultimately won out, on the issue of attacking the US. Once the order had been issued, the navy put to sea and commenced battle. To add further salt to the wound, the Japanese army, who had pushed for war with the US, fought well in the South Pacific, but lost many of their battles. The Japanese navy, on the other hand, who gave arguments against war with the US, produced some spectacular victories, such as the "Battle of the Java Sea", "Battle of Savo Island", to name a few.
The Japenese intended to cripple the American Navy with the attack on Pearl Harbor. Instead they only destroyed a few warships and brought the U.S. into the battle. Once the Americans joined in the war, the Axis powers quickly began losing.

Did someone predict Pearl Harbor like that one person predicted 911?

Yes, Pearl Harbor was no secret prior to the attack. However, attacking the base by airplanes may have been somewhat surprising; most aircraft carrying a heavy enough pay-load to do that much damage and flying that great of distance didn't exist in 1941. Using Aircraft Carriers for that great of distance, and getting away with that much stealth, and using that much firepower...was NOT thought to exist either.

How was Franklin d Roosevelt's victory?

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States, he was the longest serving president, elected for up to a four terms but only serving for 12 years, and had won a landslide victory the likes of which have never been seen in American history, he had won 44 states as a Democrat.

in other words... it was huge! Rosservelt had won 44 states, and President Hoover only 6 states!

there are many reasons as to why his victory was huge, but perhaps the biggest reason is that because, Hoover was so bad. Hoover did so little to help the Wall Street Crash, the people needed someone who was not just going to sit and do nothing.

the only solution to this problem is to get a new president, and the only one that was running at the time was Rosservelt.
