Why people have problems in maintaining close relationships?

Answer They may have trust issues from past relationships where they trusted someone and that person let them down or hurt them. I think some people don't even know how to have a close relationship. If a person grew up without having closeness in their family or seeing those kind of relationships they don't know how to have a close relationship even if they may want to. Some people are just loners.

Does a girl have to give a guy a physical?

There are many guys who are "afraid" of girls. They get nervous around them and are afraid to touch them. When their hands brushed accidentally, it made them nervous like hell. A little skin contact is normal in Friendship. Here are some steps that can help or train that kind of people to overcome their fear in order to have a better relationship and avoid awkward moments.

Tips

Smile.

Be brave about it.

If you act casually, the girl will also think that it's casual.

Warnings

Some girls don't like touching, so don't touch them if they don't!

If she tells you to back off, she isn't interested in you.

Never try the yawn-and-stretch trick! Most girls think it's lame.

How do you resist peer pressure to smoke?

Peer pressure leads to smoking when a non-smoker hangs out with smokers. The smokers sometimes make the non-smoker feel left out or uncool, so the non-smoker starts smoking. Of course, you can avoid that by selecting friends who are non-smokers. It could be also if you hear that somking relaxes you, so you try it once when your mad and you get addicted.

What does it mean if you feel like everyone hates you and nobody cares about you?

Oh my goodness, I've been in this situation hundreds of times before, and let me tell you, I know how you feel. I was in a deep rut with my classmates, they weren't talking to me, they didn't include me in anything, and they didn't invite me to their parties. I got bullied by a large group of people, and though people saw, no one stuck up for me. If I tried to stand up for myself, people who heard would tell everyone that I was the bad person in that scenario.

Don't listen to those jerks. People care about you. If they don't treat you nice, why should you treat them any different? Just ignore them. Don't talk back as you'll just give them another excuse to dislike you. If I were you, I would go to your teacher or parent and tell them what is happening, as you know you're family will always be there for you and love you no matter what you say to them. Don't get any ideas though!

If they don't do anything about it, stick up for yourself. Tell them that you're not having any of it, and if they want to bully you or leave you out of things, then they can just start being nice or else leave you alone. I'm sure they'll listen, and if not, just carry on and act like they're not there. Perhaps treat them the same way they treat you, and that will make them stop and think when they get a taste of their own medicine.

If all else fails and they still hurt you, then retaliate by saying "Treat others the way you yourself would like to be treated" or "There is no I in team, but there is one in telling". I'm sure they wont be able to think of a comeback!

Why do teenagers get a bad reputation?

It depends on the social environment and the person themselves. If he/she is dating a boy/girl, in some cases, somebody will most likely get peer pressured into doing something. Sometimes, if he/she doesn't get what they want, they'll go and spread a rumor about them. (Ex. They'll say something like, "She had sex with me and three other boys. She did everything I told her too. We even video taped it. I even got her to take naked pictures of herself and send them to my email address. Wanna see? I can prove it". Or they'll say, "It's over. I don't want you anymore. You didn't meet my requirements. It's okay. I got another one on the side."

People gossip. That's life.

It's starts with one story and ends up with a completely different story.

One says something came up missing after you left. She's steals...don't trust her.

Another: "She said she can kick her butt any day. She love to fight people. She was making fun of her the other day. One day she was by the garbage can and tried to throw a paper ball at her. Then, she claimed she tried to throw some paper away. Yeah, Right."

In some cases, it's peer pressure.

Like I said before, it varies. I know from personal experience.

Hope this helps.

I feel that teenagers get a bad reputaion because a very small minority are bad. Hey, we all have an odd drink, cigarette. but does that mean we're evil? i know my mother was smoking when she was 14 and drinking then too, she never really lectures me about these kind of things, she can't it would be hypocritical. but have other people got the right to demise us because of our age? i think people should respect us and let us make mistakes and have fun once in a while, we're only young once. we are the generation that killed Britain apparenly? pfft. in a few years we're going to be the generation that saves Britain. older people need to trust us, we're not all the same.

Explain the difference between direct indirect and peer pressure know example?

an example of direct peer pressure is like you're friends offer you a cigarette and wont let you just say no. Indirect peer pressure would be like, you took up smoking because 'every body else was doing it'.

if it was 24 karats that gives close to 4 grams of gold. my ring is only 10 karats

Definition of peer pressure?

What is peer pressure?

There are times when your friends have a lot of influence on what you say, do, or feel. They also affect the choices you make. This kind of influence is called peer pressure. It can either be good or bad.

Good or positive peer pressure helps you be your best. Bad or negative peer pressure lets you do something even when you think it is wrong. It may sometimes lead you to do something harmful and destructive. Bad peer pressure causes you to take harmful risks.

How many teens die a year from peer pressure?

Statistics on teen deaths are not compiled under a category of "peer pressure", rather the individual categories of deaths from alcohol, drugs, suicide, driving habits, and other risky behaviors related to peer pressure.

According to National Institute of Health: As children approach adolescence, "fitting in" becomes extremely important. They begin to feel more self-conscious about their bodies than they did when they were younger and begin to wonder whether they are "good enough"---tall enough, slender enough, attractive enough---compared with others. They look to friends and the media for clues on how they measure up, and they begin to question adults' values and rules.

The most recent statistics published by the National Institute of Health (NIH), from 1999 to 2006 less than 1 percent (0.68 percent) of deaths in the US occurred to teenagers 12-19 years. This represents an average of 16,375 deaths per year for this group. The leading causes of death for the teenage population remained constant for these reasons:

  • Accidents, unintentional injuries (48 percent of deaths)
  • homicide (13 percent)
  • suicide (11 percent)
  • cancer (6 percent)
  • heart disease (3 percent)
Motor vehicle accident accounted for almost three quarters (73 percent) of all deaths from unintentional injury.

From these numbers, peer pressure could be responsible for some teen suicides (a percentage of the 11 percent) and some accidents (a percentage of the 48 percent), but there are no reliable statistics to support this.

How are adults peer pressured?

Adults can go through certain peer pressures at work among friends. Teachers may have rich friends that are able to buy things that they want and go on trips and that may make the teacher feel guilty for not being able to do many things with his family.

A husband or wife may want their spouse to engage sexually when they may not want to or they have some business meeting the next day.

However, it's true that teenagers are the age group that experience the most peer pressure because they are at the age when they are trying to find out who they want to be and others influence them the most.

We cannot speak for all abusive men, but we assume that most of them know that they are abusers. Abusive men tend to come from abusive homes, and the behavior may seem normal to them. Others may feel that such behavior is their right. Most of them know the law, but when rage strikes, the law often doesn't mean much.

How can you protect yourself from peer pressure?

Peer pressure is a hard thing to resist. Teenagers especially worry a lot about what other people think of them. The important thing is to keep asking yourself "Is this the right thing to do?" when you have a decision - it doesn't matter what other people think if you're doing the right thing. Then you have to have the guts to stand behind your decision.

Is peer pressure beneficial?

No there are many benefits to peer pressure, positive peer pressure builds individual confidence and fosters teamwork. A child who might not otherwise try a new activity such as sports may do so if he sees his friends doing it and having fun.

Only if the activity in question is harmful is peer pressure a bad thing.

What is the effect of peer pressure in the student?

Peer pressure tends to have more of an effect on children with low self-esteem. If a child feels compelled to fit in, the teen may do things that go against his or her beliefs simply to be part of the group.

Peer pressure can lead to experimentation with drugs and alcohol, sex, skipping school, and various high-risk behaviors. If you notice a sudden change in your child's appearance, clothing, and attitude, especially if accompanied by secretive behavior, he or she may be succumbing to the influences of peers. You should be especially alert to sudden changes in the friends who make up their core peer group. An unexplained change in the type of friends you child associates with would indicate that your child is vulnerable to new influences that may not be positive.

How is peer pressure can be both positive and negative?

Well, in every case that I've seen peer pressure it had bad effects. So let's say someone is really good, listens in school does their homework, Then someone who is the opposite of that comes along and teases them they are pressured to do wrong. So that is really bad. But, in really rare cases ( I mean really rare) Someone who is good makes someone who is bad to be pressured to do good. Now that is a positive effect. In conclusion, it can be either way. It depends on what you are talking about. I hope I helped. Well, in every case that I've seen peer pressure it had bad effects. What are the common causes of peer pressure?

In the case of peer pressure, a person is convinced to do something (such as going to an opera and doing illegal drugs) they might not like but which they perceive as "necessary" to upkeep the positive relationship with the other party, such as the family of their partner. The person could agree to the offering even if he hated it for many reasons; maybe he or she is the possible inheritor of the family/person that asks him or her to come to the opera, the family could want to evaluate the person before letting their son/daughter get married with him/her, etc. from wikipedia

How does peer pressure occur?

Peer pressure is a state of mind. Although for whatever reason, there are mental illness's that can be classified under the cause of peer pressure. I think peer pressure is all about the similarities all of us have in common. We each see ourselves as part of the herd. Social living has influence on us all. This is exemplified in the statement by John Donne ' No man is an Island'. Compare Paul Simon's song 'I am a rock.....'

What does the Bible say about Peer Pressure?

Peer pressure is not directly mentioned in the bible.

However the bible does talk about a reed swaying with the wind, not being steadfast, and does show the example of Peter, who denied Jesus 3times due to what we know to be peer pressure.

Don't succumb to it. Be yourself, allow you to be yourself, and stand your ground with what you think is correct.
