Persephone (Proserpina)

Zeus promised Hades that he could be Persephone's husband. However, Demeter (her mom) and Peresphone were unaware of this. Thus, Hades captured Peresphone and made her his bride. They made an agreement that only half a year, Demeter would be able to see Peresphone.

Hades is Persephone's uncle. Because Zeus is Persephone's father, and Hades is Zeus' brother.

Persephone does not have a dog either on Earth, Olympus or in the Underworld.

Her husband however had a very famous dog: Cerberus.

Persephone is a goddess who got trapped in the dark deepest underworld

Persephone is married. Her husband is Hades.

At first it was because Hades was preventing her from returning. It is a rule that if you eat the food of the underworld you must stay there and she ate six pomegranate seeds so she then had to stay, but her mother was so upset that Zeus said she only had to spend six months a year there, one for every seed.

Nobody really knows. Hades was never married. But taking Persephone as his wife and queen of the underworld was by force. It was never Persephone's choice.

According to Ovid and the geographer Strabo, Hades took the nymph Menthe or Minthe as his mistress. Persephone jealously trampled the unfortunate girl, transforming her into a plant, known as mint.

The most concrete example of a weakness of Persephone would be in the myth of Orpheus, where he comes to the Underworld and plays a really sad song on his lyre, begging for his wife to be let go. Persephone finally relents, which shows that she's a sucker for a sad song. ; )

Demeter was the goddess of Agriculture and was typically linked with cereal grains such as wheat. Persephone was the goddess of spring-time and wasn't linked with food as much as she was with flowers.

She had to be away from her mother, Demeter, for half the year.
