What is the ratio of soap to water to spray lupines for aphids?

One tablespoon (14.79 milliliters) of soap to one gallon (3.79 liters) of water is the ratio of soap to water to spray lupines for aphids. A little bit will be effective since home-made and store-bought insecticidal soaps kill insect pests by the equivalent of drowning and suffocation. A large amount of soap will not have the environmental impact of huge amounts of high-concentrated vinegar even though it may be irritating to edible, ornamental or wildflowering plants.

What is an earth friendly way to get rid of bees?

A beekeeper will try to remove a wild hive (from a tree, or a hole in the ground) by moving the brood (the bee eggs and larvae) and the queen bee into a portable box hive. Foraging bees will return to the box if it is left beside the old hive, and so long as the queen was moved into the new hive. After nightfall, when all the bees have returned, the hive can be sealed up and taken away.

Of course, the position of the wild hive will determine the difficulty of the whole operation.

I had a swarm set up their home inside the double brick wall of my house. A beekeeper set up a new hive outside with a new queen, and an inverted funnel on my wall. The funnel allowed the bees to come out of the wall, but they were unable to find their way back in, so they went into the new hive and adopted the new queen. Eventually (some weeks), all the bees emerged from my wall and into the new hive. The old queen probably did not survive, as there were no bees returning with nectar to make new honey.

You have bees that look like yellow jackets that are making nests inside of your wood window frames WHAT are they They made their own hole to get in to make a nest?

I'm not sure what you call them... (Wood bees?) As long as there is wood for them to get into, they will keep coming back. You can use some type of wasp spray to get rid of the ones you can see, then when you notice one going inside one of his holes, slowly go to the hole (they don't usually attack when you are calm and not afraid) with a roofing nail and nail that sucker in his own hole. He will buzz madly for about 3 days before he dies in there! It's almost funny, but he will die since he can't turn around to get himself back out! I finally replaced my wood awning over my back porch with a metal one, so I'm sorry if I can't help any more than this. We had several good laughs until the kids came over to play and then had to do something different. An exterminator could probably answer your question without charging you!

If you find one maggot in your house does that mean there's a bunch more you haven't found yet?

Maybe, maybe not. It is fairly likely that what you saw was not a maggot (fly larva) but rather the larva of a 'pantry moth', or Indian Meal Moth, which infests dried foods in the pantry, everything from chili powder to flour.

The larva can get into closed jars, ziploc bags, and tupperware-type storage containers; and generally has slight webbing around it.

Eradication requires removal of all infested foods, perhaps baited glue/pheromone traps available at some grocery and hardware stores, and thorough cleaning of all nooks and crannies in the infested area (perhaps including underneath cabinets, behind refrigerator, etc.) .

Prevention of re-infestation is aided by freezing dry goods for 48 hours before putting in cupboards (to kill any possible larvae in the new food), rearranging of cupboards (the moths like a settled locale).

See related links below for more info and brands of moth traps.
