The Theory of Evolution has survived attempts of refuting, but with the over whelming evidence and layers of facts after facts piled on top of each oter; that what makes the theory of evolution valid.

How did Pocahontas make peace between Powhatan and India?

Why did people from Great Britain land in the New World?

They were looking for gold, land, or religious freedom. They didn't find the gold until 1825, when gold was discovered in Dalonegah County, Georgia. People who had no land in Britain wanted land of their own. The Puritans were persecuted in England & came here to establish 'religious freedom,' which meant you were free to practice any religion as long as it was theirs. Maryland was established as a refuge for English Catholics, who were being persecuted in England. Georgia, for a time, was a penal colony. Before Australia was discovered by the English, a lot of English criminals were 'transported' to America. As the country began to settle, a lot of very poor people who couldn't pay their way across the Atlantic came as indentured servants--essentially slaves for a specific period of time to pay the person who financed their voyage the cost of passage by working without pay. And then, of course, there were people who came for the pure adventure of it. TexasCharley

What if John smith and Pocahontas never become friend how do you think that would that have affected the success of Jamestown?

She didn't save Smith. The story we know is not true. Actually the colonist landed in an area of 14,000 Native Americans and in the worse land in the area. Powhatan pretty much left them alone. I think he figured that they would die from the bad water and disease . He was fairly right. Within 6 months there were only 34 men left alive of the 104 who came. It wasn't until after his death that the brother of Powhatan attacked the colony. The story about Smith is also not true. He did NOT save Jamestown. He was only there a very few months and he lied about his contribution to the settlement in a book he wrote several years later. He also made up the story about Pocahontas and she died young so couldn't refute his story. The man who did save Jamestown was the husband of Pocahontas and gave tobacco seeds to the colony. That was John Rolfe.

What bad happened in England in 1629?

In 1629, Charles copied his father. He refused to let Parliament meet. Members of Parliament arrived at Westminster to find that the doors had been locked with large chains and padlocks. They were locked out for eleven years - a period they called the Eleven Years Tyranny.

Charles ruled by using the Court of Star Chamber. To raise money for the king, the Court heavily fined those brought before it. Rich men were persuaded to buy titles. If they refused to do so, they were fined the same sum of money it would have cost for a title anyway!

i am reaserching on Pocahontas so im serching for information
Pocahontas was a nickname for the native girl named Mokota who was intrigued by John Smith. After she saved him from getting his brains busted, they became close friends. Later, he was injured and returned to England, and she was told he was dead. She married John Rolfe at 16, and several years after he brought her to England to meet with King James and Queen Anne. She never had a royal hearing, but she did wait on the queen as one of her ladies. She met up with John Smith again in England when he learned that she was about to move back to Virginia. During that time, she called him "father" because that was the way she felt about him, and she said that he should call her "child." It was only several weeks later that she died in England.
No. She married John Rolfe in April 1614, when she was 18 or 19 years old.

She was only about 12 when she allegedly interceded for John Smith in December, 1607

Why did the powhatan want to kill john smith?

Pocahontas risked her life for Smith

But that is just a story that john Smith told:

On his way to one village, Smith said that he was captured by Powhatan Indian scouts. Their chief, also called Powhatan, thought that Smith must die. Smith described that Powhatan's men held his head against a rock. Smith saw them raise their weapons. Suddenly, the cheif's daughter, Pocahontas, rushed forward. She "got [my] head in her arms," Smith declared, "and laid her own upon [mine] to save [me] from death."

What role did Captain John Smith play in the early success of the Jamestown settlement?

He basically saved the ailing colony. By 1608 half of the colonists in Jamestown had died, leaving only fifty three emaciated survivors. John Smith came to Jamestown and was elected president in September of 1608. He enforced military discipline and negotiated with the Indians for food for the colony. He later returned back to England and the colony came close to collapse again.

If you want to read more about Jamestown, I'd suggest reading Paul Johnson's History of the American People pages 23-28. That's where I got my information.

How old was Pocahontas when she saved John Smith?

She would have bee around 12-13; since she was born in 1595 and he was captured in 1607 and released sometime after but correspondence shows he was around in 1608.

Also in Smith's accounts he describes her as looking ten in one yet 12-13 in another.

It is somewhat historically in doubt that she actually interceded for him with her father, the chief.
