How do you flush the coolant in a 1998 Pontiac Transport and where is the inlet hose?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There is a drain plug underneath the radiator It will be on the bottom right if you are facing your vehicle. Then fill from your Radiator.

first you will want to locate the petcock (radiator drain) it should be near the bottom of the radiator on the side opposite the lower hose. simply turn the petcock (do not fully remove) the petcock is designed to let the fluid out without having to be completely removed. in order to expedite draining of fluid remove the radiator cap and there should also be small brass "vent" screw, its located near where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine and also within 2 inches of the thermostat. something else that i do to get some of the fluid from the heater core out is to squeeze the lower radiator hose near the engine block (reachable from the serpentine belt area of the engine.

~squeezing the hose produces a small pressure wave that forces fluid out and lets a little air in. making the draining process go a little faster.

the inlet hose should be the lower hose...

the radiator should have 4 other smaller hoses these are for engine oil and transmission fluid.

i always take mine to the dealer and let him/her to take care of it i trust the dealer to do a good job on my van

1994 Pontiac transport has a quad driver module failure how can this be corrected?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Look at your error codes again. It should read something like "quad driver module FAULT" not failure. It is VERY unlikely that your quad driver actually died. It is the high power control system that is in your computer. So replacing it, means replace the computer. To prevent this the Quad Driver has all sorts of internal protection hardware in its design. The likely thing that is wrong is something the Quad Driver is connected to. And that The quad driver isn't seeing every thing correctly so thus the Fault. It also can fault if there is a wiring problem from the device to the quad driver. There are Test for each component. You should to to find out which is the problem. Consult your Shop Manual.

When it rains the wiper motor on your 95 pont transport stops operation except in the fastest position how can you solve this problem?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I would suspect the switch is bad. I experienced such problem. The switch is certainly not bad. The reason lies in an excessive lubrication of wiper motor pinion so that movable electrical points become disconnected from base upon the surface of pinion. You should take off the whole wiper system (I did that myself with no others help so you CAN do), take off the motor cover and electronic board. Underneath it you'll see the pinion. Remove the excessive lubrication and clean two electrical contacts and two tracks with cleaning rag.

How do you Do Maitanence on the Front Wheel Bearing on a 1993 Pontiac Transport?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

These vehicles have no servicable possible bearings. This is because GM, with their self preservation tactics have used sealed bearings in the hub, and you need to replace the entire hub, bearings, and speed sensor all in one, when anything goes wrong at some hundreds of dollars. Mine has ABS, and would have been just under six hundred dollars if I'd let them get away with their game. I bought used for one hundred and fifteen dollars, and I have put many thousands of miles with no detering consequences. The ABS portion is just a simple voltage generator, that stops producing electricity when the wheel stops turning (ie. locked), and this signal ( or lack there of) is interpreted by the computer, and it in turn causes some of the hydraulic pressure to be released at that wheel so it turns again. This is all happening at the speed a computer is capable of, and it is really not rocket science. I drove through some water that leaked past the back bearing seal, and caused rust to develop. When I took it apart it was full of rusty watery grease. It's symptem was that, that wheel caused a rumbling sound as I was driving. I also can add that I broke the bolts on two different cheap three jaw pullers, before I got a puller designed for the job. The bearing was actually rusted onto the axle. One might be able to match the bearings at a supplier such as, Bearing and farm supply, but the rust had done too much damage on mine, before I'd realized it had occured.

How can I re-program my 1994 Pontiac Transport mini van for a replacement key fob The lock control does not have a reset button?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

First make sure your new remote has the following numbers on the back:

P/N: PRINCE 10215012

MODEL/FCC ID: ABO0603T

The 95-96 Models for which the remotes are way more plentiful have a different system even though the remotes look the same.

Remove the glove box (3) 7mm screws top inside glove box opening and another (3) 7mm screws underneath. Pull out the box. The keyless entry module is clipped to the rounded cross-car padded assembly just above the glovebox opening. There's a little plastic push point on the right side of the module, if you don't feel it right away pull the module out so you can see what you're doing.

1st you need to reset the system. With the ignition in "run" hold down the push point for 10 seconds. The system will cycle the locks which indicates "all cleared". Turn the ignition off and then back to run. Press the push point once and then the unlock button on each remote you want to work the car within 5 seconds of each other. You need to have all the remotes you want to work it on hand for the programming. System can accept up to 4 remotes.

Everything goes back together in reverse of disassembly.

You'll lose the automatic door lock feature programming (doors locking and unlocking with transmission selector) reprogramming that is covered in your owners manual.

What is the firing order for a 1998 Pontiac Transport Van?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The 1999, 3.4 is 1-2-3-4-5-6, so it's farely possible the 1998 is the same. This is strange to me because the older engines were in a weard order compared to this, Something like 1-5-3-6-2-4 for the inline six. The cylinder placement is: The odd numbered cylinders are at the back side of the engine next to the fire wall, and the even numbered cylinders are along the radiator side. Numbers 1 and 2 are at the front end of the engine where the pulleys are located.

You know where the place is for the front windshield wiper fluid goeswhere does the fluid for the rear go?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depending on the year and model of transport, the rear wiper fluid will either go in a compartment in the rear hatch door opening on the drivers side, or same place as the front. Later models (95 and up) have two pumps on the wiper fluid container under the hood which handle front an back fluids. Earlier models have a pump in the rear and the fluid is poured into a dispenser opening located on the drivers side of the rear hatch.

Located in the fuel tank - may have to remove for access

I saw a detailed procedure for this, don't remember where, but it is a real bear dropping the fuel tank, not to mention the safety factors. Better off leaving it to a pro.

Why is your abs light on constantly in your Pontiac Montana?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Bad front wheel bearings trust me. They trip that light i have an 01 and 03 Montana and it happened with both @ around 80-100k miles. Will also kick your traction control light on if bearings are bad the lights usually appear @ the same time. Buy the bearings @ auto zone or similar discount store and try to find a a good mechanic buddy to install them if u r not comfortable because the dealer and most places will try to hose u for this job along with telling u everthing else is also wrong with your brakes. i think they cost around 100 each.

AnswerThe reason may be as simple as low brake fluid level Along with this you may want to check your braking system for leaks and the pads and shoes along with the general condition of the components listed above .

Can a starter off a 3.8 Pontiac transport fit on a 3.1 Pontiac transport?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No. The 3.1 is a 60 degree engine and the 3.8 is a 90 degree engine. Everything is shaped very differently. The best you can hope for is that it won't fit. More likely youl damage the flywheel and could crack the transmission.

Where is the sensing unit for the thermometer in a 1997 Trans Sport?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

on the drivers side under the air intake, more specifically there are two one is under and the other is behind the carberator assy. the best way to get to the sensor is to remove the air intake and carborator, i have a 92' 3800se and that's where i found mine...if you do remove the carborator be prepared to deal with radiator fluid. but belive me its much easier to replace the bugger when you can fully see and get to it.
