PTSD/Posttraumatic stress disorder
How many symptoms of PTSD are there?
PTSD and symptoms varies due to all different types of situations that cause the trauma in the first place. It may come from things such as a serious accident, a serious car accident, physical or sexual abuse, seeing someone die or be killed etc. In my case it was a serious car accident. But a person would need a medical diagnosis by a qualified professional to determine PTSD. Ones may experience mood swings, being irritable for what seems like no reason, even withdrawal away from family and friends. They may have flashbacks, nightmares, dreams of dying or being killed. They may lose interest in all the things they used to enjoy. I sympathize with anyone in this situation because I walked in those shoes. It may take years to recover or you may never completely. But as my doctor puts it, you will have a new normal after diagnosis and treatment. Things will look good again.
Can you have post-traumatic stress disorder after dealing with a Narcissist?
Each individual is different so yes, if he was threatening you verbally or physically abusive or made you do things that you hated doing. Our minds cope with horrific things in order to protect us from going "over the edge." For some the survival instinct comes out immediately, while it takes some other individuals time to find their survival instinct, but you can bet they will. After living in an extremely bad environment and the person has belittled you for months or years it's best to get counseling. You are stronger than you think! =Answer= I had nightmares for awhile. I kept waking up in the middle of the night swearing I heard my ex prowling around my house or screaming my name from out in the street. I would feel his prescence like some wierd ghost or something, especially when I was doing something (innocent of course) that he wouldn't like. I was real jumpy when people around me would yell or argue. Don't know if this was even a mild form of PTSD, but I totally believe it could happen. One of the best movies I saw with a very coy, high-end and intelligent abusive man was "Sleeping With The Enemy" with Julia Roberts. It's on DVD and a good movie to watch. I understand what the last poster is saying and that's exactly how she felt. If you haven't seen this movie then please do. It has a happy ending!
Actual abuse is actionable; the fact that you happened to see a cross/Christmas tree/church/Bible/whatever is not.

Are panic attacks a symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder?
Okay there can be two answers for this question. Yes and no. The reason being is because everybody is different, and everybody is put through different situations. Depending on how well you can handle a certain situation depends on how well your body can avoid having a panic attack. Basically, everybody has a panic attack maybe only once in their lifetime or more but remember that depending on the situation, it all has to do with how they deal with it. :D
Can you become a police officer with ptsd?
In this day ands age virtually ALL law enforcement agencies carefully screen their applicants both physically and psychologically. If you are currently being monitored and/or are under treatment with medication for your PTSD, it is highly doubtful that you would pass a Psych screening. However, if your PTSD episodes were in the past AND you are able to pass both the psych test and the interview, you might be considered for employment. It is entirely up to the discretion of the individual agency.
As a further FYI; provisions of the ADA generally do not apply to sworn (ie.: armed) law enforcement positions.

Is there a disorder close to narcissism that military men deal with?
Well, being a prior Army Officer I will say that *some* of my superior officers, especially those that held 'Command' related positions, thought they could do no wrong. These once good and selfless men often fell victim to what I can only call the 'Ego-maniacal rank-makes-me-God' syndrome. Tendencies which arose our of that particular command structured officer being deified by some of the lesser rank and file who felt that somehow feeding this officer's ego meant certain promotion or special favors for themselves (and for some, it actually did).
The fact that no one could challenge their decisions (save for the few higher ranking officers above them) meant these fellows let the rank get to the their head an effectively considered themselves rock stars.
Mind you, this did not make the officer any more efficient, brilliant, effective or better a leader merely, it just made him think he was. I felt that in review and retrospect, after my 20 years in, that these types of officers were of the most dangerous of individuals and often got many a good soldier needlessly killed with their stupid and self absorbed/aggrandizing decision making.
Any good psychotherapist would deem most of these types narcissistic by any standard of the DSM-IV. Mind you, NOT all senior officers fell victim to this particular disease but those that did were very very dangerous individuals and very difficult to stop once they steamrolled their ego onto the battlefield. The sad thing is the Army top brass always found a way to sweep their misdeeds and selfish actions under the carpet to save themselves the bad press in an all volunteer organization. Sad.
Yes. As soon as you can.
My mouse has a cut on it's head. What is a best possible treatment?
Depending on how severe the cut is - if not very jagged and deep - use antibiotic ointment on it daily. Apply a small amount to the cut. You could also get some cleanser from your local vet to wash it. If it starts to show signs of infection (red, pus, itchy, swelling) please take the mouse to the vet for professional care. Also, if the cut doesn't heal in a good amount of time, then it is time to see a vet.
Mice and rats heal quite nicely from skin wounds because they often have to fight for teritory in the wild. Often, they won't even seem to notice the wound because their skin doesn't have as many nerves, so it doesn't hurt like when we get a cut.
Good luck!

As a loadmaster on C-130 and C-141's I remember at least one specific flight on the C-141 where we carried bodies from Viet nam to Travis AFB -they were in body shipping containers (kinda like coffins) and by protocol I had to stay in the back with them the whole flight and the heads had to be toward the front of the plane---This was about 1970.... don't know if this helps............

Who has evidence that Harry Potter has post traumatic stress disorder?
I think he has panic disorder when he is getting ready to take on Voldemort. He probablly takes pills for when he is ready to battle but takes midol for when he is done battling and says "I gotta let loose." which means you know. but no he doesn't have traumatic stress disorder. his friend Ron does whenever he gets a chill for when he sees Hermoine. He is thinking "oh i get to see my baby tonight. but oh that's right i can't because she is busy studying the art of relaxation with Harry .
