Where in Ireland is the prophet Jeremiah buried?

Some claim that the coronation stone upon which many kings of Ireland, Scotland and England had been crowned was brought to Ireland by Jeremiah and is the stone Jacob used as a pillar. (Gen. 28:18)However Professor A. C. Ramsay of the Department of Geology of London University made a thorough examination of this stone. He found it to be of Scottish origin, having characteristics entirely lacking in the sandstone found in Palestine.

There is no biblical evidence or otherwise, to say Jeremiah went to Ireland.

all the best

ACTUALLY... there are legends that Jeremiah brought one or two of the daughters of Jeremiah out of Egypt. His scribe Baruch came with them. They may have stopped in Gibralter where part of their party remained behind while the rest continued on to Ireland. Tea Tephi or Tamar married the high king of Ireland, Eochaid. All this happened in such ancient times that it's not possible to prove or disprove it. The Bible doesn't say, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

As for the actual burial place, that's not known. There are many ancient burial mounds in Ireland but it's not clear who they were for. Other legends say Jeremiah died and was buried in Egypt.

Legends also say that Jeremiah brought the Ark of the Covenant to Ireland. Other legends say the Ark is on Mount Nebo, or it's under the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, or it's in Babylon, or it's in Ethiopia, or it's in Scotland under the protection of the Knights Templar... One of the legends might be correct. Or not.

The current Stone of Destiny is in dispute. Some people think that when the Stone was stolen in 1950, a substitute was returned. The stone that was tested for authenticity may not be the original Stone of Destiny.

If you want solid answers to such mysteries; get used to disappointment. :) The history of Ireland was oral until Christian monks began to record and assemble oral history into books in the early centuries AD.

Another View:

First of all, someone "Edited" this original article but all they did was leave scattered comments arguing about everything - it was a big garbled mess. I'll start over here.

There are lots of legends about Jeremiah and after doing a whole lot of research, the fact is: nobody knows for sure what happened to him after he went down to Egypt. There are three legends about it, however.

CATHOLIC LEGEND - says Jeremiah was martyred (stoned to death) but that story didn't appear until nearly 1000 years after Jeremiah's time -- so, many people wonder about the truth of it.

BRITISH ISRAELISM - Some people think Jeremiah ended up in Ireland, along with David's harp and the Stone of Scone and at least one Jewish princess with him. This is the legend of a famous Irish Queen by the name of Tea Tephi. But I did a lot of research on THAT legend and it's frankly impossible because the real Queen Tea Tephi lived approximately 900 years before Jeremiah's time. There's no way to reconcile the time gap: they lived in entirely different centuries. Their lives did not overlap.

And it's interesting that the legends about Tea Tephi are extremely detailed (including a book supposedly written by her) even though the Irish peoples didn't have anything in writing until the monks began making written records around 500 AD... more than 2000 years after Tea Tephi lived. Yet the British Israelism story says that Tea Tephi and her Kingly husband started a college!!

It gets more and more improbable. The more I look into the legends of Tea Tephi: I realize that it's simply impossible. Tea Tephi could not have been a Jewish princess who came to Ireland with Jeremiah. And without Tea Tephi, the whole story falls apart completely.

The legend of Tea Tephi was an integral part of the British Israel beliefs of the late 1800's and early 1900s. British Israelism was shamed for its cult tendencies. British Israelism utilized Jewish and Christian symbolism to create their theories but there are severe inaccuracies and I do not believe their promoters knew the Bible very well at all.

British Israelism also seems to be one of the first white supremacy concepts - which may have had some influence on the Nazi belief system a short time later. Ideas about a "superior race" of people were popping up here and there: and none of them were pretty.

MASONIC TRADITION - provides a somewhat different story from that of British Israelism. And, it's a story that is at least more believable and may have happened: the problem is that the legend is only in Masonic tradition. According to the story, the royal daughter of Zedikiah was not Tea Tephi, but a girl named Tamar Tephi who went down to Egypt with Jeremiah. She was married after the fall of Jerusalem to Prince Eochaid of Ireland. They met in Egypt. They were married around 585 B.C., which is an appropriate date for Jeremiah's lifetime.

The prophet Jeremiah, Princess Tamar Tephi, Prince Eochaid and Baruch (Jeremiah's scribe) traveled to Spain and then to Ireland. Baruch may have died in Spain. This link provides a good overview of the Masonic legend and gives a description of the site where the Masons believe Jeremiah is buried: http://www.themorrisclan.com/GENEALOGY/TAMA%20TEPHI.html

SUMMARY - There is a lot of confusion surrounding Jeremiah's last days, which is complicated by legends that were invented later on. Only God knows what really happened to him. I hope Jeremiah finished out his life with a little happiness: he certainly deserved it after all he went through during the time that Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians.

How does Simon serve as a prophet for Ralph?

Simon serves as a prophet for Ralph by embodying the moral compass and innate goodness that contrasts with the descent into savagery among the other boys. His insights often foreshadow the darkness within humanity, emphasizing the need for civilization and order. When he discovers the truth about the "beast," it symbolizes the inner evil present in the boys themselves, which Ralph struggles to confront. Ultimately, Simon's tragic fate highlights the fragility of morality in the face of chaos, reinforcing Ralph's role as a leader striving to maintain order.

Why the abbasid could claim to be the true heirs of prophet Muhammed?

The Abbasids claimed to be the true heirs of Prophet Muhammad through their descent from his uncle, Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib, which they used to legitimize their rule. This familial connection allowed them to position themselves as the rightful leaders of the Islamic community, especially in contrast to the Umayyads, who were seen as having usurped power. The Abbasids also emphasized their commitment to the values of justice and equality, appealing to discontented groups within the empire. Their successful revolution against the Umayyads in 750 CE further solidified their claim to legitimacy.

Is everyone who prophesies a prophet?

Answer 1Apparently the answer is yes by definition. However, there are true prophets and false prophets. And these two categories can also be subdivided. Answer 2The true prophet is one assigned by God (the creator and same God worshiped in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) and supported by God revelations and miracles. Anyone else who claims being a prophet is a false prophet. Examples of true God prophets are Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Josef, Moses, David, Solomon, John, Jesus, and Muhammad. (peace be upon them all).

Is there a person called Jared in crossgates church of latter day saints?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) has over 14 million members worldwide. They do not make their membership lists public and it would be impossible to keep such a large list updated and current.

If you would like to know if someone is a member of a local Mormon congregation, the only way to find out would be to contact the Bishop of that congregation, who has access to the current records.

A search of the over 20,000 Mormon congregations for "Crossgates" came up only with the Dunfermline Congregation in Scotland, which is near the town of Crossgates.

The contact information for the Dunfermline congregation is:

St Leonards Place DUNFERMLINE, KY11 3BG UNITED KINGDOM
