How do you change the oil filter on a Renault Clio sport 172?

Hi there,

The oil filter on the clio sport is located at the front of the engine behind the radiator and is very hard to change even with a proper wrench due to the engine size in such a small space.

The easiest way to change the filter (a little messy), first remove the plastic cover on the top of the engine,(4 bolts), next get a small container(ideally metal or heat proof) and put it under the filter to collect as much oil as you can, now get a long flat bladed screwdriver (ideally the handle should be above the front crossmember), place the blade of the screwdriver on the top of the filter and get a hammer, tap the screwdriver gently on the handle and it will puncture the filter, push the screwdriver in as far as you can, now push/pull the screwdriver in an anti-clockwise motion and the filter should start to undo, when you cant go any further round due to space, simply remove the screwdriver by wiggling it a bit, then bring it back to the top of the filter and repeat the above.

keep doing this and the filter will eventually be loose enough to undo by hand.

Hope this helps, after much trial and error with mine, although its the messiest by far, it is the easiest and quickest method of getting the filter off.

cheers Jeb.

How do you access the windscreen washer bottle on a peugeot 307 HDi 2003 model?

The wash bottle is mounted above the driver's side wheel arch cover. You'll need to chock the back wheels and jack up the front right hand side. Axle stands are a must. Remove the front wheel and then there are 8 plastic trim rivets holding the wheel arch cover in place. The inner rectangular lug of the rivet needs prising out with a screw driver then the whole rivet pops out. Two rivets are beneath the front valence, one beneath the body under the driver door. The cover comes out quite easily then. The wash bottle is held in place by two nuts/washers over captive bolts beneath the engine compartment. Remove the power plug from the pump and the two tubes running off the pump itself. Once you've removed the bolts, the bottle drops out of the bay (with a little assistance)
