"Project Better Place" (www.ProjectBetterPlace.com) is providing technology to Renault to produce a large-scale electric car pilot project in Israel. The company hopes to have thousands of electric-only Renault Meganes on Israeli roads by 2010.

The technology provided by Project Better Place not only involves the car's function but roadside infrastructure that mimics a gas station. When an electric Megane runs low on power, the driver can pull into a charging station where a charged battery is swapped in. Instead of paying for gas, the driver is charged a usage fee for distance traveled, much in the same way mobile phone users are charged per minute of use.

to do this, you need to enter the code, then whilst the engine is running, you need to remove the fuse marked BIC/Ilum, turn the engine off and on and then replace it, the drawback with this, is that the engine management warning light will flash when the engine is running at below 1500rpm, also the immobilizer light will flash, this can be turned off by holding in the central locking button for a few seconds.

I had this, I read it is caused by an empty windscreen washer bottle so filled it but no luck. I then read somewhere that a window may be slightly open and its actually the alarm warning making the beeps so open/closed all windows and still it was happening. i then read that the child lock button may have got 'stuck' or more to the point failed in some way, so clicked it once or twice and realised the red light on the switch showing lock as 'on' hadnt come on, so pushed it a bit harder when doing it again and Voila! Problem solved!

As it happens, the problem WAS something to do with the child locks! It 'sort of' righted itself, when I did similar stuff to your suggestions, but it was so long ago now, and even at the time I didn't know what I did - just that it was something to do with the child locks etc. I shall make sure I try the lock switch first if there is a next time.

Sounds like the coil plugs are faulty

Disconnect the frontand rear o2 sensor electrical connectors. Separate the catalytic converter from the flex-pipe. Remove the fasteners between the catalytic converter and the exhaust manifold. Disconnect the EGR tube from the catalytic converter. Remove band from the front of the catalytic that holds it to the bracket on the front of the engine block. Remove fasteners holding exhaust manifold to head.

Timing belts last 60 to 100 thousand miles, and should be changed accordingly. The easiest way to make sure your timing belt is in working order is to bring it to a local mechanic.

There should be one on the front pipe of your exhaust. That's it

As with all Renault cars, you need to read the handbook carefully. The weights section is usually towards the end of the book. You will probably find two figures for the towing weight. One "with driver only", the other for "all other situations". You will find it difficult to get a straight answer from Renault as to the meaning of "all other situations" but effectively it means that if there is anything or anyone else in the car other than the driver, the the towing weight limit can drop perhaps 300kg or so. Sounds absurd, but that's the way it is. Just leave your wife at home. Don't carry a toolbox, leave the picnic hamper behind.

It has to be reset by a Renault dealer (or anyone with a Renault Clip diagnostic).

The Paint reference is on the vehicle identification number(VIN) labellocated on the right hand front suspension turret in the engine compartement ,or in the spare wheel ,an additionallabel is also located on the right hand center pillar

Pouring oil in the filter is not needed during an oil change. Coat the rubber gasket of the filter with a thin coat of oil using your finger to ensure a tight seal and screw on the filter. Oil will naturally enter and circulate through the filter after new oil has been added at the conclusion of the oil change.

Depends what model Megane, Te 16v ones mostly had automaits adjusters that cannot be locked back and will probably require an extra set of handsd to line the belt up while the other person twists the belt tensioner to relase the pressure on the belt.

Remember to have the belt fully lined up on all the right pulleys!
