The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards),[1] that is usually run as a road race. The event was instituted in commemoration of the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon to Athens.
The 1896 Olympic marathon distance was 24.8 miles. This was the first modern Olympics, which took place in Athens Greece. According to a famous Greek legend, a Greek foot-soldier (thought by many to be Pheidippides) was sent from the plains of Marathon to Athens with the news that an army of Athenian hoplites had fought and driven off the vastly larger invading Persian army. As he approached the leaders of the city-state of Athens, he staggered and exclaimed, "Rejoice! We Conquer!" and then collapsed and died. The distance from the plains of Marathon to Athens is 24.8 miles.
The marathon distance was later changed as a result of the 1908 Olympic Games in London, England. That year, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandria requested that the marathon begin at Windsor Castle (20 miles west of central London), so that the Royal family could view the start. The course distance between the castle and the Olympic Stadium in London was 26 miles. Event organizers added an extra 385 yards around the stadium track, so the competitors would finish directly in front of the King and Queen's royal viewing box.The final distance for the 1908 Olympic marathon was 26 miles, 395 yards (26.21875 miles). The Olympic marathon distance varied until 1921 when it was set at exactly 42.195 kilometres. 26 miles, 385 yards is used as the Imperial approximation (the difference is about a centimetre).
6 minutes is considered a fair time.

Running shoes should generally be replaced every 300 to 500 miles, or approximately every 6 to 8 months for regular runners. The exact lifespan of a pair of running shoes will depend on various factors, including the runner's weight, running style, the type of terrain they run on, and the quality of the shoes.
It is important to note that running shoes can lose their cushioning and support over time, even if they are not being used regularly. Worn-out running shoes can increase the risk of injury and lead to discomfort while running. Therefore, it is recommended to replace running shoes regularly to ensure that they provide adequate support and cushioning.
It is also a good idea to pay attention to any signs of wear and tear on the shoes, such as worn-out soles, holes in the upper, or a loss of support. If you notice any of these signs, it may be time to replace your running shoes, even if you haven't reached the 300 to 500 mile range yet.

Movements like for instance a golf swing that's takes movement trough a number of planes, cannot be catagorised as a single movement in a single plane,eg.sagital, horizontal or vertical plane movements. Thus catagorised as movements in the oblique plane.

For most people, about 10:00 per mile. Anything faster than that is running, rather than jogging. That having been said, Olympic marathonners "jog" at 5:30/mile (vs. their running speed of faster than 5:00/mile). That's the ultimate limit, I'd say.
Answer is quite simple run fast !! Check out the schools track team on their web page, look at the best times if you are close to that... it's also about communication with the coaches. Show interest in the school and how you can contribute to the track team. Some schools even post the standards you need to walk-on compared to scholarship. obviously running 10.9 will not get you a full-ride scholarship usually the 10.3 range. I'm a sprinter so i know the ranges.. 200m atleast a 21.2 anmd the 400m 47.00 to 46.8 or lower. It also depends on how much money the team has on scholarships. hope this helps... good luck
it is best to stretch your legs after you go on a 5 to 10 minute warmup but before your actual run. that way you legs will be more limber and warm when you stretch them, reducing the risk of injury.

Often considered one of the greatest world records in the sport.
First of all oatmeal because it keeps you full so you won't eat other items before the run! Lots of water(but not to much) fruits, nutrition bars, no sugary food like some cereals, and pop tarts. Also you could have a bagel with low fat cream cheese or none at all. No butter. Or bread with a small amount of jelly, peanut butter, or honey. Here's what I do
Bread with peanut butter and honey
Some Cheerios
Water
And I can run for a mile!
You're not fit! It will go away once you increase your fitness level. It's because your arteries are having a hard time with the oxygen levels in your body. It sends a signa to the brain for "itch"
The Self-Transcendence 3100 mile race is the world's longest certified footrace according to its organizers.
8k is 5 miles and is not considered a marathon. The traditional distance used for a marathon 26 miles 385 yds or 42.2 km. Typically the only other race with a defined standard distance, that uses the word marathon, is a half-marathon run over 13.1 miles, although there are extreme or ultra marathons can be run over hundreds or thousands of kilometres.
The fastest marathon by a woman (2:15:25) was run by Paula Radcliffe in the 2003 London Marathon.
Common injuries from overdoing running might be shin splints, runners knee, an injured achilles tendon, a sprained ankle or stress fracture. The most common swimming injuries have to do with the shoulder and irritation of the eyes.
The way to determine this is as follows: Average=shoppers at Wal-Mart on any given weekend. Take the first 100 shoppers to exit the door. Divide them up by age/sex groups. Give them a pair of running shoes. Let them have at it. I would be surprised if the first 20% did not drop dead before completion. The other 70% would be wheezing, looking for the Wal-Mart fat cart, and struggling to complete the test. Maybe the remaining 10% would be able to finish it in 10-15 minutes. Americans are obese and out of shape. If you can do a mile in 10 minutes, you are doing great!
Considering I can`t find an answer. Here is one. I am sure this isn`t the fastest but my 6 year old daughter ran an 8:16 mile yesterday. I don`t know what the fastest is but I have found that is over 3 minutes faster then the presidential 85th percentile standards.
Donovan Bailey he was the first Canadian to legally break the 10-second barrier in the 100 m. Particularly noted for his top speed, Bailey ran 27.07 mph (12.10 m/s) in his 1996 Olympic title run, the fastest ever recorded at the time.
