Which way should you turn your wheels when parking facing uphill without a curb?

The simple rule is: always turn your wheels so that, if your vehicle rolls down the hill, it does not roll into traffic. The easiest way to do that facing uphill without a curb is to turn the wheels so that if the car does roll backward, it will roll off the road... i.e. turn them as if you were trying to drive off the road.

What will a vehicle do when the right front tire has a blow out?

The car will pull to the right, and you will have to fight it. The severity of the pull depends on how fast you are going, and to a lesser extent on whether the car is front-wheel drive or not. Modern tires that use steel belts and "airless tubes" are not as violent when they rupture, and your chances of safely pulling over in the event of a blowout are very good.

Who is at fault when a driver hits a biker who is on the wrong side of the road and wearing headphones?

How do you drive stick shift smoother?

ease off the accelerator when you change gear, ease back on when you let out the clutch. keep the engine between 15k 25k rpm.

practice

Match the rpm that the engine wants to turn - based on speed and the next gear that you are putting it into - before you slowly release the clutch

With experience you wont even need to use the clutch to shift while you are moving.

^^^^ you Americans just cant drive manuals tbh lolsorry bit rude but true, in UK u cant take a gear out unless the clutch is engaged, many modern cars have a built in chip that keeps the revs high when the clutch is engaged in order to reduce wear on the clutch, but for older cars all you do is release the accelerator but at the same time the pedal is rising, push the clutch in, this has disengaged the engine from the drive wheels, then select your gear, slowly lift the clutch at the same time as pressing on the accelerator pedal, this will be nice and smooth. This is correct for gears 2-3-4-5 but if its into first from neutral, you will have to find the biting point, which is the point where the cluthc bites enough to move the car. to do this slowly release the pedal, when the car starts the ease forward, give it a bit of gas, too much and you will rev and sound like a fool, but too little and you will stall. Hope this helps, Cheers.:D

For more advanced drivers you can use double-declutching for moving down the gears. With this technique, when you want to change gear you:

depress the clutch

put the car into neutral

release the clutch.

blip the throttle

depress the clutch

push gear lever into lower gear

release the clutch

essensially it's the same as changing down normally, you just pause mid-way in order to spin the gear box up so it's spinning at the right speed for the lower gear before you engage it. If your off, you will still be smoother and with practice you can get the speed pretty much exact and have much quicker gear changes as a result. A more advaned technique still is heal-toe braking. For this you go through the above procedure whiel braking. I use the ball of my right foot for the brake and the side of my right foot for the acclerator. This will take practice and you should not try this on the open road with cars behind you until you have mastered the technique.

Should you change your oil if you put transmission fluid in your engine oil?

While some people might panic and start screaming OH MY GOD!!! I would say run the engine for a few minutes and let the transmission fluid help clean and lubricate everything, then change the oil. Transmission fluid is obviously not a good replacement for engine oil, but some of the additives in it can help to clean out an engine without destroying components, or seals. So dont panic, dont put it in there often, but you should still change it before taking it on any trips. :)

PS. I have used transmission fluid to salvage engines that were once thought dead

When is hydroplaning likely?

Hydroplaining is likely at any time in the rain. However it is more likely to occur if certain conditions are met, such as if the tread on your tires are poor, if this is the case you are driving a time bomb on the roads. The tread on a tire is imperative to your and others safety not just in the rain but also in situations requiring your instant reaction, anyway back to the subject. Another contributing factor is the amount of water or liquid in road (doesn't have to be water), the best way to survive the hydroplain is kind of like driving in the snow and loosing traction you have no control, #1 don't panic, remain calm and pay attention to your surrounding.#2 hold the steering wheel steady, dont try to turn and fight the vehicles motion you will lose, if your hydroplaining on a turn, again pay attention to your surroundings generally the vehicle will regain traction pretty fast. always do the speed limit when in the rain or even a little slower its ok. #3 lay off the brake as it will only complicate your situation even more. think of skipping rocks across a big body of water its about the same principle only alot bigger. After the incident calm down regain composure and BREATH. your OK. hope this is helpful. Happy Driving!?!?!?!?!

How does high altitudes effect tire pressure?

The amount of air in the tire stays the same. The outside pressure drops about 3psi or 0,2 bar, when you are at about 2000 meters or 6000 feet. So you would expect that the pressure you measure is higher. But on 2000 meters height there is mostly a lower temperature, this lowers the pressure in the tire a bit. So it would not be strange if you measure the same pressure.

How quickly does a person perceive and then react to a driving hazard?

It all depends on the persons reaction time. Some people can react in under a second while others take up to 3 seconds to realize what has happened.
