Which term describes a condition of severe itching of the external female genitalia?

One of the most common causes would be a yeast infection, also well known as "jock itch" (in men). It is caused by the area trapping moisture allowing the yeast that is normally present on your skin to get a foothold. Any area that is warm and moist for long periods of time (for example, the woman's genital area in hot humid weather especially with nylon underwear that doesn't dry quickly after sweating) is susceptible. Yeast infections are treated by keeping the area clean and dry and using anti-fungal creams or oral anti-fungal tablets prescribed by your gynecologist or doctor.

But there can be other causes such as:

* candidasis (vulvovaginal thrush) a common fungal infection in women treated with anti-fungal medications from your doctor.

* pubic lice ("crabs"), You can actually see these tiny lice if you look closely enough. If you think you may have pubic lice, you should see your doctor or go to an STD clinic as soon as possible for treatment and further diagnosis (often other STDs are present in a lice-infected partner). * scabies, these are tiny mites that burrow under the skin. They can be detected by the signature red streaks that they cause. See a Dr. for immediate treatment of this highly contagiouscondition.

* eczema usually treated with cortisonecreams.

* prickly heat treated much like jock itch * allergy or contact dermatitis from new fabrics, laundry products, etc. * psoriasis, a doctor will need to prescribe treatment * STDs (usually ulcers are present and not just itching) Because itching can be a sign of more severe medical conditions such as diabetes, if itching is persistent or very intense, it is best to seek a diagnosis and treatment by a medical professional. Many of these conditions can also be transferred to a partner during sex, and a doctor will need to determine if your partner needs to take preventive measures and/or treatment. If your partner is not also treated, you will just continue to reinfect each other.

Can blue-star kill scabies?

Blue Star Ointment is often used as a topical treatment for various skin conditions, but it is not specifically formulated to kill scabies. Scabies is caused by a mite infestation, and effective treatments typically include prescription medications like permethrin cream or oral ivermectin. While some over-the-counter remedies may provide relief from itching, they do not eliminate the mites themselves. For scabies treatment, it's best to consult a healthcare professional for appropriate options.

What does it mean when your palm itches?

Can your daughter get scabies from another girl that has scabies by playing together?

First answer:

Yes, it is highly contagious.

Second answer:

Scabies is not considered to be highly contagious.

It is considered safe to both hug and shake hands with an infected person.

One have to be "unlucky" for brief exposures to actually be infective.

Scabies is a tiny mite in the spider family. It digs into the skin and live most of its life in these "burrows" in the skin. It does not come out, just in order to infect or spread to other people.

Sleeping together with or sharing clothes with somebody that has got this parasitic infection is a very bad idea.

If your daughter have been frequently playing with this girl, then this will of course increase the risk of infection.

It is however more likely that she got scabies through cloths that have been hanging next to or on top of other cloths worn by the girl or other persons with scabies.

Sharing hats is considered a problem, but scabies does not normally infect head areas.

Walking in an infected persons shoes is considered a great risk. Scabies thrive and multiply in the thin skin between toes and underneath the foot.

Extra information:

Scabies can be treated with TeaTree oil. I have found that a 30% solution of TeaTree oil mixed with GrapeSeed oil (70%) is quite effective. Studies from Australia have shown that TeaTree oil solutions as low as 5% prove lethal to scabies.

A doctor would most likely advice a cream/lotion containing 0.5% Permethrin or 0.5% Malathion. This depends on country, and some scabies are resistant to Permethrin.

While it can be treated with TeaTree oil solutions, it should be advised that some people are allergic to this, especially in high concentrations.

A doctor, preferably a skin specialist should be consulted for more information and possibly other methods of treatment.

Note:

To successfully get rid of scabies, the entire family should go through treatment.

Scabies does not live for long outside a host. 3 days at the very most. Less when it is very hot like in the summer.

To go camping for three days whilst being treated is a very good idea as your house will be "clean" when you get back.

What can you give a dog for severe itching and biting of his skin?

You should take your dog to your veterinarian - this could be caused by anything from a dietary imbalance to fleas to allergies. It is also likely that your dog has a severe secondary bacterial infection in his skin due to him biting at it; this will need medication from your vet to get cleared up.

Can females get jock itch?

According to dermatechrx.com, it is most often found among men, but women are also susceptible to the fungus that is related to the tineas or ringworm family. It happens most often in conditions where the genital area is not allowed to breathe and develops a rash due to a hot, moist environment that encourages fungal growth. It is also contagious and can be passed in gyms and sports environments where there may be direct contact with individuals who carry the tinea fungus.

How come my cat keeps itching on back of her neck and now its scabbed what is the cause of this?

Very typical of your cat to scratch the back of her neck!I've never heard such thing! But, it probably has fleas or worms which is not good. Since she is able to actually scratch her back part of the neck I don't think it's possible to buy flea treatments because they are usually placed on the back of the neck so she would scratch it off and have it on her paw and she would lick her paw which wouldn't be good so the only way is to go to the vet unless you know something else wrong with her that you can figure out.

Is scabies caused by virus?

It is caused by an itch mite that burrows under the skin.

What causes a rash on the inside of your thigh with no itch?

It could be irritated skin among other things. The products you currently use to wash you face, cream, shampoo (washes on your face), they could have chemicals in them that are irritating. It could be a reaction to your workplace, foods, products you use. Usually an itch like this indicates that you have a pinched nerve located on your spinal cord somewhere. Most of the time it will eventually go away on its own, but sometimes could take awhile. The nerves on your spinal cord are connected to different parts of your body so it is hard to tell which nerve is pinched without looking at a reference book about the nervous system.

What is a rash that you've had about 1 year on the left and right sides of your inner thighs that looks like white circles -dots in rows- and could it be syphilis or HIV or jock itch?

It wouldn't be syphillis or HIV. Syphillis causes a small sore that goes away after a couple of weeks. It will cause another rash within a couple of months or more, that is dark and round - usually on the plams of your hands or the bottoms of your feet. I can't think of anything having to do with HIV that would cause a white rash that appears in lines. Have you lost a lot of weight recently? Could it simply be stretch marks? Could it be an ingrown hair or some other irritation that is chaffing? If it looks like dry skin, try a moisturizer and see if it goes away after a week or two. If you're very concerned, go see a Doctor. Depending on how athletic you, are your inner thighs could be rubbing against each other chaffing especially when it is hot. Use gold bond power. You want to be careful of any fungal infection. They love warm body temps.
