She said it was because he was the primary bread winner for his family and he needed the higher salary. This was in a unit with four or five women who were the sole bread winners for their kids. They did not get paid what he was paid. So this is still a problem that needs to be resolved in this nation. This is supposed to be a nation of meritocracy. Where merit determines who gets paid better not by gender.
