What is the respiration system of a prawn?
Praws have gills (special gas exchange surfaces) at the base of each walking leg. In order to pass a constant supply of oxygenated water over the gas exchange surface the gills are ventilated by movement of the walking and swimming legs. A prawn has 5 pairs of walking legs (located on thorax) and 5 pairs of swimming legs (located on the abdomen)
Shrimp do not sleep in the same way that humans do, but they do have periods of rest where they are less active. They may become inactive or hide during these resting periods, especially during the day when they are more vulnerable to predators.
How do animals respond to light?
I depends on the species but most spiders prefer not to be exposed to direct bright lights. This is why all pet spiders are typically given pre-started burrows or log hides in which to shelter themselves from light. It won't kill them, but being in bright light with nowhere to go is stressful to many species.
How does levels of salinity affect brine shrimp?
Higher levels of salinity produce brine shrimp that are smaller, but reach sexual maturity faster than those in lower levels. Also lower levels of salinity tend to allow more predators into the ecosystem.
The fresh-water prawn will eat just about anything. In nature it will eat pieces of worms, snails, clams, fish, pieces of rice, wheat, beans, nuts, etc
Sand crabs breathe through gills located on their abdomen, which are used to extract oxygen from the water. They absorb dissolved oxygen from seawater by pumping water over their gills and then releasing it through openings called pleopods.
Prawns are omnivores and they typically eat algae, plankton, small fish, and decaying matter. They are scavengers and will also feed on various detritus and organic debris found in their environment. In captivity, they can be fed commercial shrimp pellets or flakes as well.
Shrimps grow in both saltwater and freshwater environments. They can be found in coastal waters, estuaries, and even some freshwater lakes and rivers. Shrimps usually live on the ocean floor, hiding in crevices or burrowing in the sand.
What is the biodiversity of a prawn?
Prawns support biodiversity by serving as a food source for many predators and contributing to ecosystem balance and nutrient cycling. They can also increase biodiversity by creating habitat structure within their environment. Additionally, prawns themselves exhibit diversity within their own species in terms of physical characteristics, behavior, and habitat preferences.
Where does a Hawaiian Blue Prawn get its blue color from?
The Hawaiian Blue prawn is a common prawn that originated in Malaysia. Macrobrachium rosenbergi has three different life stages in the male. The male prawn progresses in size from orange clawed to strong orange claw to blue claw. Adults gain their coloration as they age, which is typically regardless of diet and across regions. Buggas are good to eat though! Blake McNaughton Trained Marine Biologist Hilo Hawaii
Do Brine Shrimp have intercourse?

What is the scientific name for a crayfish?
There are several hundred different species of crayfish around the world. The most common one in US seafood markets and restaurants is the red swamp crayfish, Procambarus clarkii, most of which come from Louisiana.
Shrimp belong to the family Crustacea, which is a large group of arthropods that also includes crabs, lobsters, and crayfish. Within the Crustacea family, shrimp are further classified into different genera and species.
What is the Life cycle of a prawn?
Although freshwater prawns require brackish water in the initial stages, most of their lifecycle is spent in turbid, riverine systems. Freshwater prawns have a hard outer shell that must be shed regularly in order to grow. This process is called “molting”. Because of these periodic molts, growth occurs in increments, rather than continuously. This results in four distinct phases in the life cycle; 1.Egg 2.Larvae 3.Post-larvae 4.Adult.
Shrimp are living creatures, and therefore they reproduce themselves so in that sense they are renewable.
However if you are referring to populations of shrimp that are being harvested by man for food then if man takes too many of them or harvests them in a bad year then man can destroy the population and the lives of other animals that feed on shrimp.
So while shrimp are renewable, mankind must learn to manage the resource properly or the resource could be lost (it has happened to the herring fishery in the north sea and there are many other examples of over exploitation).
In the wild they eat plant material, small bugs and pond creatures, and even each other if food is scarce.
If you are raising triops at home you can basically feed them anything organic. Chopped up vegetables and other kitchen scraps are good choices, or you can simply feed them a commercial fish food, like Betta fish food or shrimp pellets. You can also throw in dead bugs, spiders, etc and see if they will eat it. Or as the previous poster mentioned, you can even feed them grass.
If you need suggestions or specifics here is a link to a very good triops feeding guide, including how much to feed triops, when to feed triops, etc.

Can a water hermit crab live on land?
No. They need constant humidity and warm moist soil. It might be possible for some to survive down towards the border, but I doubt it. Their is no stable conditions for them to survive. That's why you will find them in places like Florida, or the caribean.
The c rayfish starts its life as an egg. The female and male crayfish mate and the female lays hundreds of eggs. The eggs attach to the swimmerets/tail of the female and when the eggs hatch, they are fully formed, albeit tiny. They stay with the mother for 1-2 weeks. In 2 weeks, the crayfish is about 1 centimeter long. This is when the crayfish will venture out on their own. They reach full adult size at 3-4 months. The average lifespan out in the wild is 3-8 years. --third grade teacher
